Just as in quality of life or enhancment type stuff. What is the go-to resolution mod to get for example?
Any mods I need for first time playthrough?

I wouldn't do any mods other than G3 fixpack and Widescreen Mod the first time or two. There's plenty to do content-wise and you'll want to experience the vanilla through at least once before you start tinkering.

I agree with Dante. I've always urged people to play with the fixes at least for the first time and go with bigger mods if a second (or more) plays come along. Some mods can make substantial changes to the way the game plays and you may end up judging the game itself by the changes a mod made rather than what the developers did. Better to play it and then enhance the areas you feel need a boost with mods of your choosing.

This is what I'm doing as well - more or less. Did use a few select things from the Tweakpack too, like extra stacking and max hp. But wanted to keep it as vanilla as possible for the first playthrough, so not even UB installed.

Things I'd install even on a vanilla playthrough would be anything related to banters.
The big one is the mod that changes the conversation checks from in_range to in_party. I can't even begin to tell you the number of times where a party member SHOULD have said something but didn't because they weren't standing in the exact right spot when a conversation took place. The mod fixes that and greatly improves things.
