Sorry, but even if this looks great, there's no way I'm buying DA3 day 1.

This is usually what I do for most games. 'That' game that was just released 20 minutes ago won't be purchased by me right away. I only have 1 or 2 must-buy games on day 1. The rest, I wait a week or 2 to see how the fanbase likes it.

I do not feel that anymore. I can't even imagine a thread like this existing back then, let alone multiples of them. Dragon Age was a series that was supposed to be a spiritual successor to Baldur's Gate. I've been a longtime BioWare fan, and recently a vehement critic. But it genuinely saddens me to see the direction they've taken and to know that they are no longer a must-buy Day 1 developer. Nevermind how widespread that feeling appears to be. Et tu BioWare?
Dragon Age 3 will hopefully go a long way to undo some of that. Really, despite my vocal criticism, I genuinely hope Dragon Age 3 is a great game that rebuilds BioWare's reputation.

K, wait for the reviews then.
We'll keep on plugging away here trying to give feedback and ideas to make this the best game for as many of us as possible.
Well they are using the dialogue wheel despite most players stating they hate it, and not allowing races/backgrounds despite most players stating they want it. I would say they are listening...and then ignoring.
The fact that they announced this game yet gave absolutely no details does not bode well. I believe they are playing those cards close to the chest for a reason and most DA:O fans will be disappointed.
Bioware is free to surprise me though.

TOR is the second most subscribed MMO in the world and ME3 sold far better than ME2 in its launch month, even though ME3 launched at a time where sales for rpgs were doing poorly.
When's TOR scheduled to go F2P again?
They're also doing their second round of server merges in four months tommorrow to keep the populations up. Successful release is successful.
So the second most subscribed game in the world is not enough profit for upper management. GW2 launched f2p, and in my humble opinion is part of a very successfull game series.
Also, please try to avoid misleading people.
If I play by the same terminology that you used, this will actually be the first round of server mergs. Yep, the first. the rest were optional server transfers.
If we use realistic terminology, these aren't really server merges. The server transfers were closer to server merges, the case where a bunch of people on one server join the people on another server. These "server merges" occuring now are from the now empty servers where everyone transferred away to the current servers. So its almost entirely a bunch of unused characters being copied over to servers right now, mixed in with a handful of people who liked having a server to themselves(*note that these servers currently being merged are locked, and have been locked for some time, its been impossible to create a character on them but still possible to play one on them if the character was never moved off). There is only one current server being merged, known as the Fatman. It had a bit of a pop issue since a lot of people moved there pre server transfers and moved off after server transfers.

They haven't said anything of the sort.

Speaking of faith in BioWare having been shaken...I don't know how many people were here for when Dragon Age: Origins was announced (not Dragon Age, but literally Origins)...the mood on the boards then was really palpable. I remember being excited by that trailer that was released showing the Ostagar battle.

Yeah. Before I made this account specifically to heavily criticize DA2 I lurked on these forums a bit after DA:O was released. I don't recall seeing a single negative topic.

Atm, I am going to wait and see whatever or not there will be another outrage. But if they completely annihilate the RPG elements and the freedom like they did with ME3 then no....I don't care that it's Dragon age and I don't care that it's another game in one of my favorite series of all time.... Not supporting dumped down RPG experiences ruined in order to appeal to action gamers ala CoD kids.....
QFT!
Exactly what I'm thinking too!
DA went from RPG (DA:O) to hack'n slash (DA2).
If they mess with that, I'm out!
