All the elves in DA2 look like they have some horrible brain tumor! It looks... bad. Spare the poor elves! Please!

Seriously people that think short humans with pointy ears are better elves than the more distinct elves in DA2 are fools. While some of the elves looked ugly they could do a good job and I think they'll do a good job in 3. Orsino and Merril were fantastic looking and they were distinctly elven.

I liked both origins AND DA2 elves. While some might prefer one over the other, I thought they were both done well. Yes, both sides could use some tweaking here and there, but that does not necessarily mean that they were horrible. *shrugs* some people just have stronger opinions I guess.

First of all, humanoid does not necessarily mean human. Elves are humanoid, which means they share many features with humans yet they still hold some discernable qualities.![]()

Now within the context of the game and the general theme that each race has; it's extremely easy to tell which one is supposed to be a human and which one is supposed to be elven. I wouldn't necessarily say this is exactly how elves should look in DA3, but I much prefer it to looking like weird, gangly, rabbit people. The problem is that in both DAO and DA2, the elves don't really match their concept art. If DA2 elves actually looked like their concept art, I wouldn't mind at all, but they don't.
Also, I wouldn't go around calling people fools who don't share your viewpoint.

If one were to go by DA:O lore and appearance, one could make a very strong argument that elves aren't actually a different species than humans.
They look like humans, they can reproduce with humans and produce human offspring who are also fertile, they have the lifespan of humans, and they think and act like humans. Basically elves in DA:O appear to be humans with a genetic recessive trait of pointy ears(which is why human/elf pairings results in rounded ears).

Nope.
I didn't buy the dlc because of tallis. Too pointy? Angular? Something...The face was just unpleasant looking to me and from the sound of it I would be stuck with that face a long while.
I am sure the elves will be different somehow even if they want to stick with DA2 elves, new tech and all will change things up.

The first one is clearly human. Can you seriously not tell the difference?

I know what humanoid is. I'm just wondering where it says ELVES are humanoid. Because if they are...then DA2 are fine the way they are. You couldn't you "they're humanoid" to explain why DA2 elves shouldn't look the way they do.

I never made an elf in DA:O so I'm not aware how moddable the ears are. Assuming its possible to adjust the angle so they're less perpendicular to the head, the hair in the first picture covers the ears such that pointy ears of the same length are possibly hidden by the hair(and with the hair pulled up would still have a very natural appearance).
If you're referring to same other facial feature, no I don't see it all. They both look like human women to me, the latter clearly having pointy ears with the former having ears of largely undiscernible shape.

Question. Why do they look weird to you?
I don't think how things look in concept art are supposed to how they look in game. So I tend to ignore it.
I mean...have you SEEN concept Zevran?

Do you?
Dwarves are humanoid. Qunari are humanoid. Hurlock Darkspawn are humanoid.

They are humanoid; I never said they weren't. People like yourself are complaining that people like me only want humans with pointy ears which is false. My point is that elves are supposed to look slightly human yet different. I simply find their in game DA2 design to be horrid.
How are things in game not supposed to look like their concept art? They obviously cannot make everything look exactly the same because of graphical limitations but they try their best given the look the in game artists come up with.
