I agree with you to some extent.... I preffer the different species to look..... different! But not to much. Elves were almost identical to humans in DA:O, while with the kossith in DA2 they went to far, they almost looked demons..... I think they should take the elves from DA2 and OOOOOOK, they could make them prettier but keeping the big eyes and some other details..... and also take kossith from DA:O and accentuate the differences with humans.KiddDaBeauty wrote...
Photoshop their ears and I'd believe they're both human at first, second and fifth glance. Stick a helmet or hat on either of them and they could travel Orlais without anybody guessing their heritage. The idea that elves look different is one of the things I like in DA2, even though the function by which BioWare randomises new faces for NPCs probably need a look over.

I think something between DAO and DA2 elves would be perfect. In DAO they looked to much like Humans (see my Avatar), in 2 they looked too alien.
That's the problem with allowing customization with our characters. They'll probably stick to the human race again so that you don't end up making an elf that looks human again.

But... I think Merrill is very attractive. Or perhaps that's her personality shining through, I can never tell with myself. *shakes head*AlbinaTekla wrote...
We get it in DA universe no one really likes them but that doesn't mean they have to be ug.

Its not just the main character - pretty much all elves in DAO look like human.Jerrybnsn wrote...

They could introduce different editor options for elven characters. Not saying they should not stick with one race, though.

Nah, DA2 elves were fine. They don't look human, but apart from a few poor souls (Orana), they're still attractive. Darkspawn, however, need to go back to that sinewy Origins look.
Agreed. The scene with the Ogre in the tower, the first Darkspawn coming through the forest at Ostagar, scary. The Ogre that killed Carver? Not intimidating at all. He looked like he was wearing makeup, even, and not in the ironic, scary way like the Joker, more like some confused, lost soul.

And, well, de-emphasizing the huge ears and eyes, and the na'vi-like nose would also go a long way toward helping them. It's just that the large eyes and ears make them "cute", and harder to take seriously as a race of gritty survivalists striking it out in the wilds or living against all odds in the Alienages.
Narrow and shrink their eyes, and possibly give them a honed or hungry look and the reflective property seen in wolves and felines. Sharpen the tips their noses, and indent the bridge a bit (but not to the extent of a human). Reduce the size of their ears, sharpen the points a bit, more like a dagger than a leaf (hence "knife-ears"), and put them back upright; no drooping. This would keep with the overall design you had in mind, but refine it and give them a more primal, dangerous look that would give humans a (misguided) reason to be wary of them.
Don't get me wrong, I was very happy to see the different races getting distinctive looks; I *love* the redesigned kossith, they are my favorite race in Dragon Age. But the elves... with all due respect, they just need some tweaks.

I think they could easily make some tweaks so that they look like this badass more.
