I was wondering if there is a way for me to see a preview of the item I have selected or model? So I can see what it looks like etc.

Also, can I select a model and then see what textures are attached to it and where they are?

Usually, opening something in the toolset will allow you to preview it, though it isn't always the case; items will need to be equipped on a character before you can view them.
