If I had it my way, I'd like to see restrictions removed on mage armor...

If you properly train your mage, why not allow him/her to use heavy? What in the lore prevents a mge being more of a hybrid in his training? Similar to Arcane Warriors.

This is one thing that frustrates me in DA2. My mage only looks badass when I get Champion. So I skin that on him/her at the beginning of the game...it almost makes me want to play a Warrior only because they have plenty of cool looking armor.

Mage robes for everyone!

If they're going to keep stat restrictions atleast give each class the armors with the same models. The Stonehammer armor was too cool to keep for warriors, Bioware. You should have shared (and made it shinier).

I'm ok by them doing class restrictions on armor for companions. I guess that kinda make sense. But would it really stretch resources to allow our PC to wear armor based on stat restrictions? With the current companion customization system they're using, all the iconic looks are there for my PC. Why restrict it to class? It's not like they have to replace the look of my plate armor on my mage compared to my warrior. My mage is training in the stats to use that armor. So, it fits my personality already, right?

Now, companions, it kinda makes sense. They have their own personality. They're already defined. So it makes sense to restrict armor to them based on class, IMO.

The important thing is Bioware gives us full control(or as much as they can) over our PC. Limiting our control over our companions is only logical to me. It gives them more personality. This could be one way at allowing more armor variety for mages(and other classes).

I seem to be agreeing with Welsh Inferno quite a bit lately.

I am personally in favor of removing most limitations for equipment, so that way mages could wear any armor if they wish. However, the armor should have fatigue(like in DAO) so wearing heavy armor hurts the mage's ability to cast spells.

Great minds think alike ;)

As it happens I agree with what you wrote there.

@BrotherWarth  I thought those were companion concepts?

There were no desciptions matching those concepts, and a male and female wearing such similar armor seems to point to PC IMO.
