I've always wanted one of these. A darkspawn companion; yes, you heard me right. I thought it would be neat to have one of the Disciples from Dragon Age: Awakening try to do some good in the world. The idea of it was named something... I think it was Lightspawn... and I thought it would be neat to see his point of view on the world being a "good" darkspawn and how he and Grey Wardens would clash. We've had Qunari and Geth Companions (alien but compelling), why not a Darkspawn?

And how do you suppose this character would avoid being killed as soon as you encounter armed people?

Darkspawn character could be the messenger from the end of Awakening

How do we and our other companions avoid getting tainted and becoming ghouls just by proximity?

A disciple as an companion in a future installment that's Warden centric is possible. Knowing BSN someone will ask if it's romanceable.

No, I don't think I want to get my mind around a flesh eating nihilistic demon spawn deciding he wants to play for the good guys.

Just take some Turian brandy, triple filtered, then drink it through an emergency induction port.

Shepard: That's a straw.

An Emergency Induction Port!

He didn`t...

The fact he approached the Warden without being shot at is impressive.

Having one of those walking into the capital of Orlais, and maybe into a chantry, would be abit different.

I always though the whole darkspawn speaking" thing stopped them from killing it. Until you got there of course.

Uh....I suppose I wouldn't mind this. But it seems like it'd be very complicated to do well.

I suppose if they had him constantly wearing full armor and a helmet/bandages to cover him up for casual passerby, but then, it would kind of defeat the purpose, and he would effectively become a gravelly sounding human covered up in armor for all intents and purposes.

the talking darkspawn from DA:A would make a perfect companion if you didn't kill him that is

This is exactly what I was thinking. This is the only way I can see this happening, and in the long run it would most likely be a pointless character who would also play as a day one dlc character to top it off.

As cool an idea as it is in theory I think that a certain distance needs to be maintained from the Darkspawn in order for them to maintain their mystery and threat. I don't think Legion added much to ME2 and I think that'd be the same result here.

Maybe a temporary alliance with some like Father from DA:A could work for a few battles, but overall I think it's best if we think of the Darkspawn as the bad guys and nothing more.

Darkspawn Invasion is the weakest DLC IMO too.

A bit like Legion in ME 2... interesting, provided he can talk.

Maybe not a companion but quests that involve a darkspawn as a temporary ally and that delve into the darkspawn more would be cool. I think that trying to work him in as a companion just seems as too much work.

The problem isn't only the fact that most of the people will try to kill him on sight. There's also the problem that even if the PC will convince his allies to work with him, the darkspawn companion could taint them (As it happened in the Awakening ending for the Disciple who aided the people in Amaranthine). The taint's transmission isn't something that the darkpawn can fully control.
