Although I love what happened in ME3 with Cortez being gay and only an option for the BroSheps, I personally have no problem with some of the LIs being PlayerSexual. But if they're going to make a companion a PlayerSexual LI, then go for it all the way. By that I mean, if the PC is playing a Female, and expresses interest in HotGuyCompanion, have him express his heterosexuality and fondness of bewbs (the PC's bewbs, even). But if the PC is Male and flirts with the exact same HotGuyCompanion on a different play-through, I'd be totally okay with him stating how gay he is and "Thank the Maker you came into my life because and bewbs are gross."

This whole bisexuality thing seems to have been poorly implemented with some of the NPCs. It's like they're trying to make a character straight, gay, or bi across everyone's board, when I was under the impression that each Warden/Hawke/DA3Hero's story is supposed to be unique to the player playing it. If HotGuyCompanion is gay in one play through and straight in another, I'm totally okay with that and will roll with those punches. I think it would make my experience even more special because I know it's (at least halfway) unique to me.

Do not misunderstand me: I am not attacking the characters that openly are bisexual. Isabella and Zevran were wonderfully well-done, and I had no issue romancing either simply because they "slept with someon of the other sex."  They owned their bisexuality all the way. It's just that the earlier debate over Anders's sexuality, to me, is annoying. Why can't he straight in your play-through, but gay in mine? Does it really matter?

And, just to play Devil's Advocate to my own idea: How big of a Dick Move would it be if BioWare did my idea, but to the opposite effect? Like, what if Cullen tells a female PC he's as gay as the day is long, but then when you start a new playthrough as a male, he tells you he's straight as an arrow?

Personally, I'd RageSmile while laughing through my own tears at the beauty of the boldness of it all.

I'm hoping that they don't go back to the old format with one bi and one straight. Straight gamers can romance everyone while the gaymers stuck with just one, so it's the either take-it-or-leave-it option. Alistair is an adorable woobie, I was so sad that he wasn't romanceable. I would agree with you that having bi choices are fine, but if they want to make a herosexual then the herosexual LI should comment on the sex related to your gender if you want to make it believeable. It's a bit annoying that Kaidan commented on females while getting together with Male Shep. I would love for something subtle like commenting on how handsome someone is, the same way Kaidan did to Jacob if Femshep cheated on him. It's just these little sutbles things that bring the story to life, you know?

you my good sir just gave me a new word from now on i'll be calling myself a gaymer thank you kindly +100:wizard:

I would die laughing. Make it happen, Mr. Gaider!

Yes, but not Cullen. Make it some uber-hot, lusty Antivan voiced by Antonio Baderas who hasn't got the time of day for the PC.

I want a masculine man with a sense of humor and chest hair. And a beard. Preferably human warrior or something, I'm tired of shiny, smooth elves. Think of something in the direction of a lumber jack. Then I'd be happy! :)

True that, but he was (as has been said a lot of times before) a little too whiny for my taste. I mean, I want to be able to have a, ehrm, digital conversation with my digital boyfriend without him bringing up politics all of the time.

+1. 100% Agreement. Even the Cullen bit

Never got why people are angry about "player sexual." Never even understood how gay Anders "broke canon" or whatever (besides some flirty lady responses in Awakening, which, have they ever met a bisexual person?!).

Either way, I think they will still have "playersexual" characters (essentially, no gender limitation, however they implement that).

I can also be thankful that Bioware (I mean, honestly, compared to other game developers) is highly inclusive and highly tolerant. Wish I could say the same about some on BSN :(

I never saw Alistair as very masculine, to be honest. At least, not in the sense people in this thread are going for :?

For me Alistair is Masculine enough. Plus he has some fun and Royal blood, that fit to me.

I'm not sure what the word "masculine" is supposed to mean here. In appearance? In demeanor?

Uh, I don't see Alistair as a "masculine" type of character. In fact, isn't that the charm of Alistair? That he defies the male stereotypes in media.

In terms of personality, Zevran is far more masculine than Alistair imo.

Honestly, Alistair and Kaidan are two biggest softies in their games, so I suppose the lad means masculine in appearance.

Eh, nothing wrong with "softies" but it seems they get the gay bug more than a "manly man" ( a tough, grizzled lover for the men this time!)

Now, I'll go back to the F/F thread.....*runs*

Cole. I want someone to save/protect. Someone quiet, shy, unsure of himself. Zevran was flamboyant and arrogant, Fenris emo and angry, Anders righteous and opinionated. All valid options of course but Cole would definitely be new ground to tread.

I love how you came a bunch of words to describe 2 "emo, angry asses"

Even Varric (in Legacy) poitns out how annoyingly similar they are. Meta joke.

I agree. I don't particularly care about Cole, but I'd be up for a M/M romance where the LI is shy and in need of protection. Maybe because it reminds me of Merrill. Image IPB

Being a straight guy I don't have much of an opinion visually (in terms of personal preference), but if anything I'd like someone like Zevran (or Cortez) again, as in, a character I REALLY like and that is flat out bi/gay. Anders I just didn't like in DA2 (entirely, unrelated to his sexuality, I just didn't like where his personality went), Fenris I personally just couldn't see as gay (in my head he's just the perfect guy to be paired with a strong woman). Kaidan....I don't care squat about.
So yeah, just make them likable and fun and make sure they have chemistry with the player-character (that's one thing I disliked with Cortez, the guy had more chemistry with Vega than he ever did with Shepard!).

Although, in general for love interests, I'm hoping for stuff a bit more out there. Sure, the generic options might be there, but dwarves, qunari, (gimme a darkspawn-like monstrosity for all I care!), maybe a character with a more unique look, visually...anything like that would be appreciated. Or stuff that has potential for interesting plots, like a love interest that's CLEARLY older (like Wynne) and that element being part of the romance plot. But all that is just more general stuff. In the end I'll be happy as long as I get at least one romancable companion that can compare to Merrill, Isabela or Zevran.

It's kinda of refreshing to see straight gamers don't mind seeing the gay option in the game. You can't imagine how many youtbe comments I see for those straight guys asking for a complete removal or a gay toggle just so they don't see it at all in the game. I do agree with Cortez. Shepard and Cortez have like zero chemistry, even with the flirty dialogues. I just feel very awkard romancing him. I always feel like Cortez and Shepard would be more like friends as opposed to something more. I think it's mostly because their personality are very different to me. James and Cortez's chemistry is straight to the roof.

I don't know about dwarves because they rarely make dwarves physically attractive. Female dwarves can be made attractive, but male dwarves are usually harder to make appealing for the majority of the gamers. Although a kossith romance would be interesting.

If I like a character I like a character, whatever sexuality he/she has. I only get "questionable" when it comes to adding more option for existing characters cause then it messes with my headcanon (hence why I can't see Fenris as gay - in my playthroughs so far he has either ended up with Isabela or my FemHawke...Merrill and Isabela are exceptions there cause Isabela is clearly bi and Merrill had the benefit of being the lesbian romance of my first FemHawke, but at the same time I roleplayed my ElfWarden so that he had a crush on her, so in my head I already pictured her as bi for that reason..yeah, my mind works in weird ways when it comes to figured out my own personal canon). That's kinda why I'd prefer for a character to simply be bi or gay instead of "depending on the player"-sexuality.

Regarding races - well, I've heard many people, particularly ladies, speak fondly of Varric's looks, so we got a template there. Personality of course is also key, but he gets points there too.
Female dwarves, ha, just bring back Sigrun. Seriously, Sigrun is my number one character in a Bioware game that Iw ish I could romance. She's just so much fun and so cute.
But yeah, i doubt we get it for the reasons of appealing to the majority. But at the same time, people LOVE Garrus and Tali, where we can't see one and the other looks, well, like a Turian. Many people like interesting new options that most wouldn't deem appealing (I'd kill for a romanceable FemTurian in a future ME game...mostly cause I picture a female voice doing that Turian voice thing), so who knows....
Kossith might actually work out easier, but I doubt we'd get two of those, so only a male or female option would become available I guess.
What else have we got in the DA world, anything unique or interesting to try? I guess they could always come up with new things....a romance with something like Justice (so, a spirit controlling a corpse) could also be creepily-interesting.

Wow, I'm going way off topic here, sorry.

I personally thought of Fenris as bi in my headcanon. It's just the vibe he gives out. I'm not saying this to justify my romance because the one I romance most of the time is Anders and sometimes Isabela. Headcanon is a peculiar thing. For me, each playthrough is a different universe, so sometimes, I head cannon my LI as gay, sometimes straight, and sometimes bi. I like the additional options because it allow me to shape the universe I play. Most of my ME3 playthrough have been romancing Kaidan. MShep and Kaidan are my OTP. I have said this before, but I'm glad that Cortez is not the only M/M option because my GayShep would have been forever alone if Cortez is the only option, my other Shep did romance Liara though. Anyway, I think that is my biggest gripe with DAO, there is only one gay option, so it's a take-it-or-leave-it. I fall under the leave it choice since I don't like anything about Zevran. I did use a mod to romance Alistair, but it breaks immersion for me since he only uses female pronounce. I ended up going into the mirror with Morrigan. That is why I hope that there are more options for gay/lesbian than just one. In ME3, straight males have 7 options, so it's a bit ridiculous that some even complain about 2 gay options for Gayshep.

As for races, I don't see a lot of people hot for Volus. Tali, Garrus, and Liara are all aliens, but they all have one thing in common: their height and toned body. In many studies regarding attractiveness. Both height and body types rank very high in important. Dwarven race isn't considered to be an attractive race by many. There are a few that find them attractive, but I think Bioware will make the LIs that appeal to the majority. I personally fall with the majority in term of taste, but I wouldn't mind if I see a dwarven LI somedays, even if I'm not going to romance them. As M/M fan, I know what it feels like to be left out, so I wouldn't want that to happen to anyone else. Kossith would be intersting as a LI. I think I would like a rogue Kossith, one who doesn't follow the qunnari's teaching. There was one in DA2. Maybe a rebellious Kossith female who refuses to accept her place in society.
