I pretty liked much all of the DA LIs except for Alistair. (I feel so alone in not liking him. Never saw the appeal, but different tastes, I guess.)

Well, and Sebastian, I guess... depending on my mood. (I didn't care for Isabela as an LI, but I'm fond of her as a character and companion.) Can't really judge the ME guys since I've barely played ME so far, but from just the beginning of ME1 (I've recruited Liara and then... kind of stopped playing <.<) I rather liked both Kaidan and Garrus...

I think Alistair appeal for me is that he makes you laugh. It's also something I want in a relationship irl. It's a bit douchey that he dumps you if you makes him king though. Although I like him as the warden better, so I rarely make him king. Besides, I feel like Anora is a better ruler. Of course the best option would be to make them both rulers, but there is no way I'm handing Alistair over. . I hope we have another jokester character. Most of DA2 relationships are so serious.

I have never liked Sebastian. He's like one of those fairytale princes charming. I just never get the appeal. He's just too clean-cut for my taste.

I can see that. Strip away the religious nonsense, though, and Sebastian becomes one of the only BW LI's that I actually find personally appealling. He's good-looking, he's a prince, he's thoughtful, he's a warrior, and he's Scottish. I would totally bring him home to meet the family lol

Alistair is too young, Fenris I'm not physically attracted to, Anders is too much of an artist, and Kaiden is too sweet/sensitive.

But as LI's for my characters, they are all amazing :D

I think Sebastian would do well with a character who isn't so serious as him, like a jokester type. I also like him with Fenris because Sebastian is the type to take a lost soul by the hand, if you know what I mean. I think he'd be really sweet for Fenris. And for me.

I would love a jokester-type LI, too! Not an elf though, because we already head Zevran. Isn't it funny how in DA:O your options were super promiscuous and a virgin?? LOL I just realized that. I like that DA2 toned it down with Fenris and Anders. Anders was experienced but not a player like the Zevmeister was. Fenris may not have been with anyone since leaving Tevinter, but he didn't flutter and flush about it the way Alistair did.

Ew, you like one of those prince charming types.

j/k :P

I always like rugged strong archetype better, so Sebastian has never really registered with me. As for Sebastian, I like him with Carver. he's so serious and Carver always goes out of his way to annoy people. I like the conversation when he makes fun of Fenris' tattoo.

Fenris would sleep with Isabela if you don't romance any of them, although it's more about sex than actual romance. I think both Anders and Fenris are experienced with sex, but they're not promiscuous like Zevran or totally inexperience like Alistair. I do kinda hoping for a virgin again. I always find those romances so sweet.

I think it's a mystery as to what Fenris' sexual experience encompasses. He was abused by Danarius, which is something I prefer not to think about. But other than that, I'm not sure he's been with anyone else. He tells Hawke that he's never let anyone get too close (I think when Hawke asks in shock, "You've been alone all this time?"), but that could just mean he's loved em and left em LOL The Fenris and Isabela friendship-with-benefits doesn't make sense otherwise.

And I wouldn't say I'm into Prince Charming types. I'm certainly not a princess *rolls eyes* ... More like I like Sebastian because he's mature, good-looking, kind, and rich lol But not just rich; he's from a good family. I mean he's not nouveau riche. I HATE nouveau riche. And in my opinion, a man can be a mechanic or a prince, so long as he's mature and responsible and makes something of himself (and I hold myself to the same standards).

It's why I hate the thought of convincing Sebastian to remain a brother instead of going back and claiming what's his and taking charge and care of the people of Starkhaven. I can't stand cowardly Sebastian. I've got no respect for that guy.

Fenris is like a tragic character, but I don't like how he resents all mages just because one does him wrong. I still wonder about his sister what what she said to Fenris if Hawke stopped her. It seems like she wasn't just being motivated by the power of magic. It seems like she also resents Fenris.

For me, it's more about doing what you love. You can't force someone to be someone they're not willing to be. If you hate your job, you wouldn't be dedicated to it. It's not fair for him or for the country who deserved a king who dedicated his life to them. I really don't like Sebastian near the end, and I don't think he should be king because if you spare Anders, his motivation for being king is revenge, not because he cares for the country. That's why I don' thtink he fits to be king. He's too selfish and too personally motivated to be a good king.

Well, sometimes you don't have the option to do what you love. Sometimes you have to turn and face the tiger, as Fenris says :P I think Sebastian has this responsibility, and he's chickening out on it by becoming a brother, and he KNOWS he's chickening out which is why he has these doubts about whether to remain in the Chantry or return to Starkhaven.

And yeah, his reasons for returning to Starkhaven are stupid and indicative of his quick temper. I think he always knew he ought to return, and this is just an excuse for him to do so. What a terrible leader he'd prove to be, though, if he immediately led is people to war against Kirkwall!

Yeah Varania says that she and their mother had a hard life once they became free elves. They had to find work constantly, I imagine, and weren't garuanteed shelter and food the way they were as slaves. Sick and twisted way of seeing the world ("we were happier as slaves!") but Fenris points this out on several occasion: that many people who are slaves grow complacent with their lot in life.

I don't fault Fenris for his hatred, but I wish Hawke had more chances to talk to him about it, and that Hawke eventually convince a romanced Fenris to temper his extreme views. (He does respect Bethany or a mage Hawke, remember. He isn't so much anti-mage as he is pro-Circle).

He'll always be a sweet little virgin to me. And like some other people have said he was just lulzy thinking I'd ever pick him over Anders.

That was one of the reasons why I didn't pick Alistair. When I decide to spare Loghain, Alistair's motivation for becoming king wasn't that because he thinks that he would be best for Ferelden, he was doing it so that he could take revenge on Loghain. At least, it was during that moment since he wasn't even fond of being king 10 seconds ago. Sebastian is exactly like Alistair in that respect, he wanted to be king because he wanted revenge against Anders. These are not the reasons why you should put someone on the throne. I don't think Alistair or Sebastian should be king and I think their country deserves better than them, even I love Alistair and hate Sebastian.

I just realize that a lot of the elves in Tevinter are pretty messed up as well. Despite seeing their kinds being treated as slaves, they worship the slavers and strive to be like them. Devera is one of the elf slaver while Varania wants to become one of the Magister. This led me to believe that it's not the elves that are being looked down in Tevinter. It's more about the survival of the fittest. The elves can become powerful and influential if they have magic or serve under a powerful magister, even Feynriel wants to go to Tevinter despite looking like an elf. I think the thing that matter is not the race, but how powerful you are as a mage.

The evil heterosexuals are obviously trying to bury the glorious M/M thread, sending us! the only beacon of hope for all homosexual males on the BSN into obscurity. The nerve.

How dare they.

Although a lot of posters here or used to be here are females.

I know Nefla and Motomotogirl are. It's nice to see a diverse group of fans who like M/M romance. It's different storytelling and you don't usually play as yourself, so it doesn't surprise me.

Ok, hope this doesn't get me into trouble but I wanted to share this with y'all:

Fellow BSN member AndreasShepard created this amazing DA/ME crossover with a certain Alliance Commander as a Grey Warden and a certain Biotic Major as a mage. Hey, at this point anything is possible in Dragon Age III: Inquistion, right?  Anyway, if you like this just fire off a quick note and let Andreas know!

quips dare you I already posted this pic

I just possibly died and went to heaven. That is..perfect!

BIOWARE gimme me that!

I kinda hope all will be bisexual again, like in DA2, so we can choose for ourselves . I hate feeling limited (although everyone being bi doesn´t seem probable in real life)

I will always miss my mHawke with Fenris...

Magic and slavery and going underground on a whim don't seem probable.
An old woman who eats her daughters to stay alive doesn't seem probable.
Demons running around doesn't seem probable

Compared to most stuff in DA, Bisexuality isn't that big of a deal (OMG SHOCKER)

Yup! I've always enjoyed writing male characters more than female and am myself personally pretty gender neutral. I often identify more as a boy than a girl (though I never go online and misrepresent my sex... which is not to say I don't respect those who prefer to be a different gender online). So when I play games, I prefer to play as a guy, although it can be exciting to play a powerful female character, too (I do enjoy my FemHawke and I hope to get the chance to finish my FemShep playthrough). But I have issues with traditional heteronormative heterosexual romance, so even when I play a female character, I romance another woman.

I know how you feel. Whenever I play a game with the ability to choose gender, I usually pick a female because it just seems so stereotypical to have a straight male protagonist. Females can save the world, too. My pokemon and Diablo protagonists are all females except for a few spared savefiles. When it comes to Bioware games, I like to choose to be a male protagonist becaues it's even rarer to see a gay male or female saving the world. Generally speaking, I like the males relationship dynamics more than male-female ones. I feel like they support each other more as comprades while with the female-male ones, there is always a feeling of females being inferior and in supporting role to aid the alpha males, even when it's not intentionally. I start to sound like a feminist.

Yea I play women unless there is a m/m option I would like to pursue.

Edit: An exception would be pokemon Sapphire because the male protag was sexy, idc what anyone says.

So generally I'm female in DAO and Male in DA2. In ME I have a female for Garrus and two males for Kaidan and Steve. But Jennifer Hale is one of the best VAs I have ever seen so femshep has a broader appeal.

This is the Anders I use. If it weren't for this I would go romance-less.

You say that like it's a bad thing ;)

Though I've never minded the romance dynamics either way. When I romance Morrigan, she's usually the one in control (there was one character who never even got the whole sex related talks after she falls in love because he simply never asked for it. When Morrigan wanted to, she could initiate it, he didn't want to bother her if she wasn't even in the mood. He was quite content with "just" kissing.) I also feel like the only person who likes M!Hawke/Merrill. ...OF course, my Hawke would probably do ever thing Merrill asked of him. And my canon is married to Anora, utterly adores her and follows her every order. ...I guess there's a pattern there.

And I generally always play as a male, even if I have the choice. I mean, I do have the occasional female character, but I'm generally more comfortable with a male character. I hear the argument "I'm so often forced to play a male so when I get the choice, of course I'll choose the female character" a lot, but for me... I'm already forced to be female irl, so while I don't really identify as male either, I don't see a reason to force myself to play as a female character just because the choice is there. It's wonderful to have that choice and every now and then I'll take it, but for the most part Ill keep to male characters.

It's one of the reasons why I love having all LIs available to both sexes ('cept for Sebastian, I guess). I don't want to have to play as a certain sex to romance someone, and chances are, had Zev or Fenris been female only, I probably wouldn't have played through their amazing romances.

Damn that is one sexy Anders, I used it to switch Anders with Cullen, but this is also pretty awesome. Too bad, it reminds me too much of Garrett Hawke. I do the same with Diablo 3 though, my only male character so far is the Monk because I find him to be pretty attractive.

I think another reason why females would like M/M option is that sometimes they want to play the male protagonist, but they're not interested in women, so they could just choose the male options. That is not to say that it's the only reason since I like Liara and Morrigan romance. Storytelling is the most important thing when I play an RPG.

Generally speaking, I often avoid the white straight male saving the world archetype that the mainstream often pushes out. If possible, I usually make my character a racial minority, female, gay, or bisexual depending on my mood and how much freedom I have with that particular game.

I find something icky about a woman's role is to bear a child to a hero while he goes out there to slay the big bad wolf. Of course that scene can be interpreted differently depending on the gamer, but her role seems to be pretty submission personally for me. I think Anora to be the one I admire the most since she command respects from a country that ruled by men.

I like Merrill, but she gives off the little sister vibe for me to romance her. That's mostly the reason why I choose to romance Isabela over her, I guess.

In generally, I find that it's easier for women and to some extend gay men to play as the other gender or sexual orientation since they're already outside the mainstream. Straight men are often either consciously or subconsciously avoid playing as anything but straight men. I'm not saying it's always true because I know tons of straight males who enjoy playing female toons.

Only Kaidan, Ashley, Traynor, and Liara have sex scene, so they don't have much to choose from.

Straight guys do play female protagonists, but I don't think that's the only reason why they play it. At least I hope not. :P
