His husband's name is Robert though. Cortez just seems too weak and emotional for my taste. I usually prefer a good balance like Kaidan. I'm kinda sad that we can't romance Garrus as M/M. It's not specifically Garrus, but it's a space game, I kinda want to have an alien romance. I wish Lieutanent Victus were romanceable though, too bad he died.motomotogirl wrote...
I only didn't mind that ME3 had a straight male LI not available to BroShep because it was Garrus lol Boring alien guy... nope didn't play ME 1&2 so I'm unable to get the Garrus appeal; I'm sure he's awesome in those other games!
If I ever am able to own the game I will probably romance Cortez once, but it's hard because it feels like he's still in love with Steve (well, he obviously is). It just feels wrong. Also, the way you pick him up in the nightclub just feels a bit... cliche.
M/M romance thread.

I know, I personally find Garrus' personality is as interesting as dry paint, but I'm just disappointed that you can't have a romance with any alien. I would have thought aliens would have different view on sexuality. That's all.Dhiro wrote...
As far as romance goes I thought that both Cortez and Kaidan were satisfying. I don't really mind not being able to romance Garrus, personally.

I kinda want someone who is a royalty to be romanceable by M/M. Both Alistair and Sebastian are royalty, but both of them are straight. I don't know if being royalty is a requirement for being straight. It would add a bit of diversity to the romance option. Maybe the bastard son of Maric and the elf commander.
I can understand that though. I myself am gay, but I get why they haven't done that. There has to be little royal babies to continue to line. I could see being a male mistress, some royal in history have had male lovers on the side.
Wouldn't it be a mister?

Well, a "different view" can go both ways. I always thought at least Quarians, Drell, and Turians would both have it and be OK with it. Regarding Garrus, I adore him as my best bud, but I'm not that thrilled about the idea of a romance. I imagine he'd be the one to listen to your drunken sobbing when your relationship goes south, not the one to have lovers' quarrels with.

Dragon Age has 2 male love interests, and they are both bisexual since Fenris slept with Isabela and Anders commented on how he wanted a wife in Awakening. Sometimes, I would like for a character to swing more toward males even if they are bisexual. ME gave us our first gay character, but the game has like 8 LIs for straight males while 2 for gay males, 2 for straight females, and 4 for lesbian females. I kinda want them to divide the numbers a bit more equal if they have a large LI roster. As I only find Kaidan to be attractive, I can only romance him in every of my playthrough. Cortez has his appeals, but he seems more like a friend to me as opposed to a LI .Blessed Silence wrote...
I'm hoping for at least 2 choices, instead of one being gay and one bisexual that changes depending on what my character's gender is.
Hm, I see what you mean.
Even in DA:O and DA2 I went for the straight guy first (this does not imply I dislike any other sexual orientation) but that's the fault of my own, hanging around the boards and falling in love with pics /laughs
I did do the Anders romance with both male and female Hawke on my next playthroughs, but eh ... I still wanted to slap him.
I couldn't get through the other ones, but I blame that on a bit of my personal feelings on what was said and about the subject in general.
That's why I would like all LI's to be "unknown bisexual" meaning we don't know what gender they go for, and even if we are male or female, we have a shot at them so to speak. We would give gifts, talk, etc like IRL to woo them over (for lack of better words). I feel more ... satistaction and victory I guess, knowing all that hard work over someone I liked through the game and story, showing that I did so, and they do in kind.

Garrus was actually my favorite romance, followed by the gay Kaidan and Cortez. (I didn't romance any females other than Liara). I really think Garrus was interesting a fun to me, idk, he was just my type.Battlebloodmage wrote...

While DA is ahead of ME in terms of available gay romances, the ones in ME (Kaidan and Cortez) are SOOO much better than the ones in DA

With this I have to disagree in the strongest possible terms. I do have to admit it has more to do with the object of romance than its proceedings, I find those two absolutely uninteresting. To be honest, Mass Effect for me is a fairly asexual series, apart from Sheploo himself (and Vega). To say that Bioware can't satisfy everyone is, of course, superfluous.FaWa wrote...

I didn't care for the romances in DAII, but probably because they were attached to an (IMO) bad game. If Bioware had actually bothered to finish their game, I might have been disliked angsty elf boy and angsty mage boy less.

But as for DA:O I frankly just cheat and romance Alistair with my guy anyway. There are only a couple dialogues that are "off." Otherwise, it's a really sweet romance.
Well next game I'm sure we will have Cassandra, and here's hoping she's available to both genders! (which I imagine all LI will be, huzzah!)

I think each class does give off different vibe depending on the LI. I find warrior LI to be protective, mage LI to be dangerous, while rogue LI to be free-spirit. It does show in the game as well, Alistair is very protective, Fenris threatens to kill Anders if he hurts Hawke, Isabela and Zevran are very open-minded about most things, while Anders, Morrigan, and Merrill are all very dangerous in their own ways and the people around them react accordingly, too. I romance Alistair with my Gay Warden as well. I love the romance, but I just wanna punch him everytime he talks about what a pretty lady I am.motomotogirl wrote...
I don't think class really matters to me. I mean imagine if Duncan had been romanceable; he is a mature and manly older fella but he's a rogue, not a warrior... still very sexy xD

I always play as a mage, so I need a meatshield. That's why I usually prefer a warrior. I take LI everywhere as well. In ME3, Kaidan is my main go-to guy.franciscoamell wrote...

Merrill regularly makes deals with demons and ignores anyone who tries to tell her it's a bad idea (up to and including freaking Flemeth) because she insists that she knows better than everyone else. Merrill is extremely dangerous.

Leliana was a Bard: an assassin, a spy and a manipulator. That's very much "rogue", in my opinion. And I don't see how Merrill isn't dangerous, if only to her enemies
I don't really care about class, personally, especially if we can customize our companions to fit more roles in DA III. We had some odd exceptions in DA II (Anders only loses the crowd control of Entropy while keeping all the damaging trees, meaning he can fill both roles... Merrill, on the other hand, can't heal anything to save her life)... as someone who likes to play squishies a tank would be appreciated though!

Merrill is a bloodmage, and everyone is afraid of her, even her clans shun her. She could turn into an abomination if the demon got his way. She insists on completing the mirror despite people telling her how dangerous it could be. It's mostly about others' reaction to a mage and how dangerous they could be.motomotogirl wrote...

Leliana is a spy who disguised herself as a sister. She's definitely a rogue. She's also very open-minded in her way of thinking. Don't know if having a foursome make you open-minded or just ****ty.

I'll answer it for you: open minded, unafraid of exploring her sexuality.
