Things like battle mages in heavier armor doesn't do anything to go against DA lore. I see no reason to strip player agency when it's consistent with current lore...
If I want to make an Arcane Warrior, I should be able to do that. The more customization we get, the better. The most popular games out today give you a ton of customization in how you play.
Eh... you joking right?
Example : WoW - most popular MMOrpg. Till the TBC expansion every class had uniue abilities which stack with each other. That means the buffs weren't exclusive to each other. Example would be having buff from Druid and Warrior, each for 5% more critical strike, and together for 10%.
Comes Wotlk.... All this buffs/abilites were homogenized and use a single same buff place. Even worse, the new DK has abilites that are already provided in same way by Shamans(Windfury VS buff from Frost, can't remeber name) and Warlocks (Ebon Plague.VS Magic damage buff curse).
And i am speaking about gameplay of course.
The customization that today games giving you, in form of gameplay is just illusion. For instance -Skyrim doesn't offer *more* customization at all. You are either warrior, mage or thief. And any combination will get eventually shaft - especially with mage. Mage/Warrior will always be big garbage to the full warrior with light armor/two hander.
Even Witcher 2, which i often praised could use a bit more talents, because on Iorveth/Saskia path i was often full in two talent trees (not the training one) and even going to third. A game with good gameplay customization should never allow you to pick all the spells/talents/abilities on single playthrough, and not even on second. Examples of this would be Arcanum of Steamwork and Magicka or Fallout 2. Of course i don't expect this kind of depth to the game, which is made for small brained console players, but we can always hope for more.
