Edit: There's also a baby that may or may not be born, and their father can be 1 of 3 characters. And 2 companion's romances can finish based on your choices with whether or not there is a baby.

pre-canned option where the Warden dies has no effect as there is a
replacement Warden in one of the DLCs that handles that ending. In the end, when Cassandra says the Warden is also gone can refer to either
the original Warden or the replacement Warden. If you romanced Leliana
in DAO, there is no hint that such a romance ever happened in DA2. Any ending where Alistair dies is ignored although whether he becomes king or not has a very minor side story in DA2.
Playing DAO only affects side quests and some NPCs who show up. Anders is the only character from DAO that is a significant character in DA2. However his personality and actions in DA2 are not affected by what happened in DAO. Anders is who he is in both games. The pre-canned options have some unique side quests of their own that do not show up if you import a DAO game you played, just as the imported game has unique side quests of its own.
The bottom line is you miss nothing significant if you never play DAO.
DA3 may be another story as you can kill Anders or not in DA2. Unlike the death of the Warden, it is not as easy to explain that away.

The only character from DAO in DA2 who is affected by what you did is Alistair because his fate is crucial to the 3 endings. If Alistair is made king, he shows up as king in DA2. If he is not made king, he shows up as a drunk in the Hanged Man. I believe there is an ending where Alistair dies but that is totally ignored in DA2.
Basically if you played DAO there are some diaglogue differences with the DAO characters in DA2 that reward you for playing the game. But the dialogues give away nothing and only someone who played DAO and then played both the imported game and the pre-canned games will notice the difference.

Actually if you import a save fron DAO where the warden romanced Leliana she does say that the Warden is dear to her heart. If Leliana is not romanced she will only speak about the songs she composed about their time together and has not seen the Warden in years. If the Warden married Anora or Alistair she mentions they make a good King or Queen. None of which actually affects DA2.haroldhardluck wrote...
Leliana shows up in a side quest and at the end but many other characters from DAO also show up such as Nathaniel, Zevran, et. al. However nothing that you did in DAO affects what happens with them in DA2. There is no mention of any romance with Leliana. Nathaniel and Anders know each other but that is it. If Isabela and Zevran meet, there is talk of them bedding each other even if your character totally ignores Isabela in DAO. Unless you played DAO you would not even know that these characters came from DAO.

If you kept Avernus alive during Warden's Keep, you do get a quest which gives you a tome, but that's probably the most practical effect from importing.
