Also, this request to follow Witcher 2 or ME 1's style of nudity has nothing to do with sexual gratification. Its to do with logictics. People do not have sex or bathe in the showers in their undergarments. People I know of anyway. Maybe Bioware employees do it that way. You never know.

I could perhaps believe this if it wasn't an amusing fact of life that people who make this point fail to even notice that Geralt wear pants when bathing/sleeping/having sex.

"Oh no, I wasn't oogling the boobies at all. I just didn't notice the man in this scene due to the... uh.. deep roleplaying mechanisms, immersive world, and intricate story-line of the game."

Of course there should be nudity in it. That would be the natural thing.
Will there be nudity in it? Of course not. EA is EA and Fox apparently rule them. Same kind of Board people I would assume. J.R. tried to stand up to Fox News, around the misrepresentation of ME, and issued some strong statement. Then it suddenly got dead quiet, so I can only assume the Board took him in the ear.

Will it matter? Not much at all.

I recently finished the Witcher 2 and wow... seriously guys? That's the thing you all want? The sex scenes were like soft porn playing at your local tv at 23:00 and that's what you lot consider mature and stuff? The Witcher 2 turned out to be an awesome game, but the nude scenes turned out to be cringe worthy to amusing.

I mean the first one with Triss in the bath I thought "Ok this isn't that bad" then the dwarves and elves shows up and the scene goes on and on, Triss moaning "Lol, ok, so that's what the BSN is so crazy about?"

I'm fine with it either way. Nudity should only be used when it fits with the story, though, for example in romance scenes or when one would normally be nude like in taking a bath, and not included solely for the purpose of marketing. I've no problem with nudity as long as it's not gratuitous. But then I want male nudity as well, I'm sick of staring at other women's boobs and arses.

The bath scene that the above poster described doesn't really sound like anything I'd want in a game at all.

Trust me, it's not. It's as cringe-worthy as the underwear sex in DA:O.

IF everyone will have the same body type (one for males and other for females... obviously) , whats the point of nudity?

Have you watched soft porn my friend ?

I don't know why people find nudity cringeworthy. People get naked to have sex, not wear underwear through the whole process. Sexuality is sexual intercourse is an important part of being human. I don't know why its being thought of as cringeworthy.

I like to have sex. I don't like to watch pixels bump together awkwardly in an uncanny valley simulation of the ol' bump and grind. I'd rather the game focus on intimacy than nudity. It's one thing for others to want it -- they and I are entitled to have our own differing opinions. But in a game I have high hopes for, I'd rather see the time and effort spent on unique items, female dwarves (for goodness' sake) more dialogue, or improved ambient sounds and npc's in city atmospheres than on getting the light to hit some animated nipples *just right*. That takes time and someone has to get paid to do it.

Not forgetting, as some have already said, that nudity in games is mostly meant to pander to straight males, which means as a straight female I get nothing but eye-rolling squickness out of it. And my opinion is as healthy and valid as anyone's.

Pixels. Hey when you have sex or watch people doing it, you are just seeing a bunch of cells interacting. No different from those pixels you spoke of. Hah ! Intimacy. What is so intimate about people wearing undergarments and humping or being fully clothed immediately after a sexual encounter ? I don't know about you but if I have sex & my partner is fully clothed or partially clothed, its big no-no because its not intimate. Intimacy and sex go hand in hand. They are not separate.

Effort spent on unique items ? Female dwarves ? We had that in DAO and DAA. Also on unique items, mods gives us better item retextures and way more unique items than what the developers are capable of doing. But we won't have mod support don't we ? We had a female dwarf companion in DAA. Ambient sounds ? Inon Zur makes some of the best game scores I know of & Bioware is not lacking in the sound department. Interesting NPCs ? Bleh you have to get Witcher 2 or Elder Scrolls with mods to experience that. Devs never really give much attention to NPCs.

As for pandering to straight males, if you have a problem with that then say that you want content that caters to you as a straight women. Not blame men for it.

I'm not going to ask for content that caters to me as a straight woman. I've already listen some content that I would like to see as.a.person. But you clearly think that those are silly and that seeing your favorite characters without their clothes on is more important than that kind of content. So fair enough, but I couldn't disagree with you more.

I'm not advocating sex scenes with underwear in them. I'm simply saying that I think animated nudity is a stupid thing to spend Bioware's resources on. I don't watch other people have sex in real life, and I'm not interested in asking my favorite game developer to change their development model to include it in their next game. I'm especially not interested in inferring that anyone who isn't interested in Bioware nudity is somehow immature or prudish. Some of us just have a long list of content we'd rather receive instead. You know, the way an *adult* might choose to read Longfellow over Penthouse.

Agreed, I could think of better things they could use those resources on than pixelated ****** 'n' arse. That being said, I'm not adverse to them adding nudity. It's up to the devs what they wanna put in the game, I'm not bothered either way.

@brushyourteeth

The content that you requested as.a.person (I don't know that requesting logical nudity makes you a non.person) should already exist in a good RPG game. I don't think those are silly, I just think those should just exist in an RPG game with followers where you are already denied the chance of being anything other than human.

Good textures ? Interesting NPCs ? Those should be in a game, not requested to be in.

We are immature because we ask for some realism in an RPG game ? Wow. If you look at my original post, I said Witcher 2 or ME1. Not just Witcher 2.

An adult can choose to read whatever they want. Also why can't I read both the Penthouse and Longfellow ? Why should I choose ?

Males still make up the larger gaming demographic, hence the so-called pandering. Consumers determine the course of things.

You're missing the point.

I agree that those are things that ought to be in the game -- but they aren't. When DA becomes a franchise that gets that kind of thing right, I'll personally take tastefully realistic sex scenes into consideration. And I make those requests as a person (as in not as a female - just a human being with the same rights as you to have my opinion heard).

I reject the notion that there's something more mature, admirable, or adult-like about putting boobies into a game that obviously needs fleshing out in other areas than, well, flesh.

This is the studio that most recently brought you no female dwarves, "bustling" empty streets, broken quest lines, and of course corpse hands and hairy ears:

Breasts? Seriously? I don't think you know what you're asking for. I don't think you'd like the result, and personally, no thanks anyway.

But no one ever convinced anyone of anything on the BSN -- that's not the point. The point is that you have your opinion and I have the right to think it's ridiculous.

That's reasonable, and I agree with you. But surely you'd recognize that there's some hypocrisy in the argument being made (maybe not by you, but definitely by others) that the only mature way to portray sex is with nudity, when what they actually mean is female nudity, and a big ol' temper tantrum if they saw male nudity as well.

I don't give a damn either way, just people need to realise that shareholders only care about profit and catering to a demographic that pays more is the way to please the shareholders.

I could be completely wrong, but I don't think four short sex scenes, only two of which would be seen by the majority of that majority, would increase game sales by that much. Seems like a lot of people would just YouTube those scenes if they just wanted to get their jollies on. Anyone else would already be buying the game because they want to, you know, play the game.

that's just speculation, though.

That was quite irresponsible of Triss to pull Geralt into the water when he still had his pants on. His cell phone could have been ruined.
