I don't know i am a female and i feel myself not offended by the witcher 2 contents...

I feel way more offended when i see a pirate woman with huge breast pressed in a corset fighting with long boots and panties......

after all isn't a mistery in the witcher 2 the majority of women are victim of a male dominated society...But there is also another side... The sorceress have enough power and influence to even use kings like puppet...

And the deadly ones end on the stake or mutilated, e.g. with cut out eyes.

Ah yes. I see my words were not specific enough. Allow me to express my opinion in a less vague manner.

In The Witcher 2, all except two scenes (the ones with Triss) appear to be there for simple titillation (one of my few problems with the game). I have no problem with titillation, sex, nudity, what have you. In fact, I am deeply saddened by much of humanity's shame over the subject. However, if I wanted to watch p'rnography, I WOULD F*CKING WATCH P'RNOGRAPHY. To be totally fair, these scenes never last longer than a minute and a half, but if you are going to put a sex scene in a movie, game, TV show, etc. that is not made to titillate the viewer, DON'T MAKE A SEX SCENE MADE SPECIFICALLY FOR THAT PURPOSE. My embarrassment was that posts like these make people from the outside looking in not see The Witcher for what makes it great, but for one of the things CDProjekt RED needs to work on, and that is approaching sex and sexuality in a mature way in a game that is otherwise VERY mature. Not in a way that's pretty much them going, "Hey look, guys! BOOBIES!!!", while everybody else eats that sh*t up instead of calling them on it. When people actually look at this problem in a positive light, it can draw many away, make them think this game is another game that is only "mature" because it has boobs and swearing. Also, if we don't criticise them for it, CDProjekt RED won't fix this problem. Ideally, not only CDProjekt, but EVERYBODY, will approach sex NOT in a more tasteful way, but in a more MATURE way. And that is what pisses me off about that post. Not that they're just excited about something titillating.

Maybe CDPrjekt RED does approach sex and nudity maturely and people are too busy being offended by it to notice.

The sex and nudity are hardly dominant in TW2.  Including the two Triss scenes, I can only remember the succubus, an elven woman and the prostitutes.  The only one of those that didn't make much sense was the elven woman wanting to sleep with you as payment for your help.  But that's just my personal thoughts on the matter.

When are people going to accept that some people like that kind of thing, and that it's okay?  If people are being scared away by TW2's "rampant" sex and profanity, I personally feel they are being incredibly close-minded.

Not really. As I've said before I'm not offended by it at all; I just recognize it for what it is. My only real reason to actively ask for sex scenes to not be in games is that I find the animations (and graphics/models in games like Origins) really ridiculous, and it breaks the immersion for me. The only way to really mitigate this is by either cutting out the actual sex (ala DA2 or ME2/3 except Liara) or making it stylistic and using shadows/angles as you said (a la ME1).

When ? Seems to me that time has long since come. "No sex please, we're British" was over 40 years ago. People are still ****ing about it nowadays; same as they ever have.

I'm happy to accept that it's knowing self parody (it kind of has to be), but I find it unfathomable that people would consider it mature on face value.

Jesus, I'm facepalming so hard right now. How can someone miss the point sooo freaking much.

You do realize that beside the opening shot with Geralt and Triss in the bed [no sex, just brief nudity] there is not a single forced sex scene in the game.

None. You don't want to see sex, you won't.

That only really applies in that one instance, where as that statement is more general.

You don't know what he content involves until you experience it. It's fairly valid to suggest that if you want to avoid it in the sequel to the game that had literal porn card as reward for bangin' the sexy witches you should probably avoid "romance" content altogether, but the same can't be said for bioware games, that have established through previous games that nudity is, at best unlikely to come up no matter what you choose.

The correlation makes no sense as TW romance scenes were FtB versus TW2's optional sex scenes. Despite it being in poor taste a nude card is in no way comparable to TW2's scenes.

That's not what I'm saying.

I'm saying that the expectation of the sex scenes in a game and especially a sequel will be based upon the previous examples. In the case of TW2 that means one should assume they would be crude - whether this is the case or not.

Yeah it's an assumption, but the nudy cards are in no way indicative that CDPR would style the sex scenes the way they did in the sequel, especially after Fade to Black was used in TW. Plus the imagery on the cards are not comparable to the optional scenes in TW2.

Indeed, but the point he was making is that the nudity in those games is a choice. This is true, but it's only a choice you can actually make if you aren't assuming it will be absent. In the case of The Witcher, because of it's nature, you'd be daft to make that assumption, but in Bioware games, which I think in right in saying Desire Demons aside, it would be strange not to.

It's a video game.It has to sell copies. True, if I wanted to watch smut I'd look elsewhere first and the argument is still valid that some people aren't into it. At this point, I think arguing for a PG rating is like sticking a finger in the leaking ******. Good luck and let me know how you make out. I'll be on higher elevation.

Make it like Witcher 2. Even with their sex scenes, they were tasteful and appreciative. They didn't have to censor anything and was taken seriously. Dragon age: Origins has a sex scene and it's depicted weird, probably because it was unnaturally censored. Like a couple waking up from sex with their clothes on.

Someone might want to play a character who wants to sleep with another character without wanting to see sex scenes themselves.

If we're talking about the elven bathhouse, sure.

That seems to me like a perfectly reasonable opinion, even if I don't see it that way (except for DA:O's scenes).

What's the solution to allow both?  Skippable cutscenes?  I'm not even sure those cutscenes aren't already skippable.  Maybe a toggle to allow sex/nudity?  A fade to black when selected, or launching the scene if not.

Both those are entirely feasible and don't seem difficult to implement (although, I'm not a programmer).

Of course, that doesn't address female characters dressing uber-provocatively, but I don't think that was the point of this thread.

You could have an option in the settings to allow nudity or no. For those that don't want it, perhaps it fades to black. For those that think they can find something artistic (eating burgers can be artistic too then it shows everything (penis, vagina, cola, etc.).
