It makes no sense for the Darkspawn to remove Cailan's underwear. He's already dead, he can't be humiliated or degraded any further, and having his underwear serves no purpose to them, while his armor and weaponry may be useful.

The Darkspawn's treatment of Cailan's body seemed symbolic to me. They didn't just strip him of arms, they stripped him of arms, hauled his body to the bridge, and then sort of hung it up.

As such, sure, leaving him naked might be appropriate.

No, it's supposed to be ridiculous. Many times, the sexualized posing and costumes of female superheroes don't look sexy to women. They range from silly to hideous.

No, the portrayal of women is unsettling to women. Many female gamers are uncomfortable with the way women are often presented in video games as objects that exist primarily for the titllation of female gamers.

The point of the comic is to demonstrate to men how it looks and feels for women to put up with that sort of thing.

Just to be clear here. "Many" is a key word. There certainly are women who don't have a problem with it, but that doesn't make it better.

Ah the Hawke Eye Initiative. The first time I discovered that site my ribs were hurting for days afterwards from all the laughter.

So 47 pages in. No word from Bioware and people are still split. Personally I couldn't care for nudity one way or the other. If it was implemented then it should be done in an artistic manner and where it makes sense. Not just nudity for the sake of nudity.

In a game with an 18+ rating it does seem a tad bit weird that the sex scenes are like something you'll find from a prudish 12+ movie (even James Bond movies do the sex better and make it realistic without showing full frontal nudity). Now they don't need to show nudity just because of the rating alone but if you're going to include a sex scene then at least make it look realistic and good.

Because of this topic I reckon Inqusition will start with some guy's buttocks staring us in the face as soon as we start a new game just to appease this topic.

i say let there be some nudity....i mean these games r clearly not entirely meant for young...well in movie terms its got loads on blood and gore and a 'not-childish-but rather-more-serious' story with cheating and romance and demons in it...but yes...unfortunately bioware wants a huge variety on players to play games like mass effect and dragon age hence they keep disappointing their fans by making changes like wise...so even with this thread on they aint gonna give a **** about this....

well atleast they havent gone and introduced dolls and ponies as the enemies/companions so that even the below 10 can play....YET...

This has been my point all along.  That scene is more powerful and more moving if Cailan is naked.  Leaving him decently covered allows him to retain more dignity than stripping him does.

My recent playthrough I had Wynne and Alistair with me at Ostagar.  And I had forgotten that I had that "true nudity" mod or whatever (sorry, the underwear is ridiculous - this playthrough my Warden didn't even romance anyone, so it really hadn't come up except a prisoner here and there.)

Seeing a naked Cailan hanging there was very uncomfortable.  It FELT more degrading to me.

So, from personal experience, I completely agree it was more powerful.

Nudity or partial nudity aids immersion in romance scenes. Clothing, at best, adds nothing to a romance scene. At worst, it breaks immersion.

ME1 got it right. Thanks to what was most likely the FOX controversy, it de-evolved into the underwear dry-humping scenes in DAO and Traynor showering in her underwear...

Nudity (kept tasteful, brief, and relevant of course) should be included for the sake of immersion.

I find it amazing how difficult it is for people to accept.

Because many believe (rightly or wrongly) that they don't want to do it BECAUSE of the backlash they'd have to deal with, even before the Fox / ME thing happened.

I'm sure there are people working at BioWare who want nudity in the games, who wouldn't mind nudity in the games, and who would definitely not want it in the games.  I doubt they are monolithically of the same mind on it, or on anything.

What matters is who is in charge of making that call, ultimately.

And whether the market will bear out it being a good decision to include it or not.

Nudity interfeers with all the decapitations and general murders going on. It offends me when I can`t fully focus on all the blood. if a woman gets shot in the breast, its ok. If I see someone kissing a breast, I get offended (being ironic here).
