Both TW2 and Dante's Inferno depict full frontal (female) nudity, genitals and all, and there both rated M.

Funny, considering that if both of those games can keep an M rating while showing full frontal (even depicting sex, in the case of the Witcher), why was GTA: San Andreas repackaged with an AO rating when the hot coffee mod was discovered? That is much more humble than anything in the Witcher.

I think in San Andreas it was kind of a mini game and therefore interactive which is why they did that. The whole sex/nudity censorship thing was probably worse back then. I think it is stupid that people have such double standards to be honest, they allow games in which you can basically rip a mans head off and more but somehow sex and nudity are wrose than that.

To be honest, I don't really mind if they add nudity or not, in the end it'd just be for romances and I doubt it would make the actual game any better or any worse.

If they do romance they should show nudity in tasteful manner. If they have for some reason dont want to show nipples, that doesnt mean they should give them bras and underwear when it doesnt make sense for it to be there. Just use smart camera angles, sheets. Hell even pot plants obscuring body parts is better than some inappropriate underwear.

It does mine when you're presented with people wearing underwear in some highly implausible situations. It's not that I desperately want to see them banging away in the nude, I just don't want to feel like I need to sit them down with an age appropriate educational booklet and explain why that's not going to work very well.

I like the tastefully placed potted plant idea. You can get potted plants with very suggestive shapes after all.

I don't see what the problem was with the original Mass Effect sex scenes.
I don't know why they just didn't keep those form of scenes with the rest of the Mass Effect trilogy and the Dragon Age games.
Those were perfect in my book.
Not too much and not too little.

Although I wouldn't mind seeing Cassandra in her birthday suit.

Let's just be honest and admit that most people who want nudity only care if the female parts are shown. And in a way... I really don't like how objectifying that is. Besides, imagine a scenario where, both male and female parts are shown during the sex scenes.
There's, undoubtedly, going to be a gay love scene (as there has been in every DA game). The media gets pissed off about this every time, but if there was nudity involved? Oh god, can you imagine what a ****storm of bad PR that would be?
Another thing is... I, like a lot of gamers, have been playing M games since before I was 17 (with parental permission) and I can say with certainty that if there had been a game with any sort of nudity, my parents would have flipped out.
My last argument is from a writer's standpoint. I LOVE writing fanfiction, including the dirty bits. If you show us everything, then you're sort of taking the fun out of imagining it. I mean, I like having to guess just how far Fenris' markings go. You know?

Now, a short list of things I do support:
- Side boob
- Naked sex scenes, where arms/legs/curtains/bed posts get in the way of seeing everything.
- Removed clothing. I hated how the sex scenes in DA2 were like, fully clothed. That was lame.
- Being able to snog/screw outside of set cutscenes and/or home base. Remember the part in Origins where Oghren was watching a female Warden makeout with Leiliana? That was gold. Let's have more of that.

But in the end, I just appreciate love scenes in general. Whether it's Alistair screwing my Warden in a tent, or that ridiculously sexy kiss scene between Anders and M!Hawke in the clinic-- I love it all.

I think most people who are fan of dragon age, including the creators of the game are fans of Game of Thrones, by mere logic, everything that is okay in that show should be okay in the game, since both are mature.

Use partial or full nudity, play with camera angles or with shadows, or go full speed and show everything. Just don't use underware.

Although this is a small matter, it is immersion killer. There I am smiling when my love is saying something sweet to me, and when it comes fun time... "Oh yeah, I am playing a video game, I was really into that moment, goddanmit..."

Although the opinion of society is also that computer games are for the kiddies. Which is probably why the examples mentioned above, even in the mature rated games are all fairly tame Hollywood sex scene in their approach. You can get away with marketing 'Woo hoo, ******!', other things less so.

So I'd agree with you, yeah it's just breasts, yeah it's just a penis, so what? But the social constraints involved and the perceived target audience mean you'll get away with one and not the other.

Anyway, characters being nude when appropriate is good.  But full frontal is distracting.  I'm sure I've said something like that in this thread before, but I can't remember and I didn't want to make a post that was just an ASoIaF reference.
