Should there be nudity, or no? (The thread that just won't die)

"I would be open to more nudity" > "lolol you never heard of pr0n?"
"I would not like more nudity." > "Oh, you must like killing small children, huh?!"

Schumacher, or was it Ninja Stan said in another thread months ago that having romances in the games doesn't take resources away from other parts of the game.
He said something like video game companies don't work that way.
Words to that effect.
shrugs.
So it's a phony argument to say otherwise , at least as far as Bioware operates.
I have not said anything about romance as a whole. I think it's great and really adds to the story. However, I fail to see how more nudity really adds anything of significance to the romance plot. We all know what they are doing, so just adding more graphic to it just kinda makes things redundant.
This goes back to my original question: What does adding more nudity, add to the romance plot?
I like to keep things to the imagination. But hey, convince me that more nudity enhances the romance plot as a whole and I'm in.

I hope it's like ME with creative camera angles.
We know romances will be more difficult to start and maintain , according to Bioware .
So getting in a tizzy over this is a waste of energy.

You keep saying this in various threads as though it was gospel.

I'm under no obligation to provide anybody any sources.
Go goggle it.
Maybe somebody will provide a link.I'm not on a pc, so I can't do links. You'll probably accuse me of lying.
Couldn't care less.
Believe whatever you like, like most people on the BSN.

Laidlaw has tried to explain it in some other online article s, but hasn't done a good job of it imo.
People need to read and then they wouldn't have to be doubting people so much.

Just because the rating allows something doesn't mean we should do it, or that we're even interested. It has nothing to do with censorship, nothing to do with us thinking sex is "filthy", and nothing to do with us being afraid of the subject. It's a matter of taste, as in our taste and what we think fits DA's tone. We do plenty of things in DA that earn the M rating, and In our opinion having nudity/sex just because it's possible wouldn't make the game darker or edgier (if that was even something we thought was a worthwhile goal).
Thank you!

You know, since dedicating 17 different character model variants(9 companions + every male/female player character) and plus(Hookers) that will only be seen once in the entire game for a few brief minutes is really a pressing matter to people.
I'm assuming the transition will go something like full clothing model, than underwear foreplay models, than nude full sex models.

So. What makes nudity so important in this game over, say, game model variety(IE having more npc models for enemies or citizens so you don't run into the same person every 3 or 4 steps)?

It's lasted a year becasue people keep coming in and arguing against it, and the same people keep over and over again coming in to fight them and say how they are wrong.
It hasn't lasted because there's an overwhealming support for the idea, it's just a thread that invites internet fights to occur.

No matter what choice will be made by bioware, there will never be 100% happy crowd. Modding could solve some, same for having the option to switch on/off partial nudity, for example.

Mind you I don't disagree with your over-all opinion, I just want to point out the flaw in the first paragraph;discounting exibitionists(seeing as how we are most likely not going to have Isabela or Zevran in the party), I don't think of we, the player, as a third, vouristic party in this. The Inquisitor is the extension of ourselves, therefore we are involved.
Having said that, I do agree that ME1 style to ME3 Liara style(still think it's unfair that she's the only one who got that, but that's another discussion) would be ideal as opposed to something more explicit.
I'm also not against pre- & post- scenes. I just don't want to see people cuddled up in their underwear afterwards. Use a blanket, use folded arms, use creative camera angles to censor, that's all fine.
This is your viewpoint, and as such it is just as valid as mine. However, as much as I try to immerse myself into a role, no computer based RPG gives me the level of freedom where I feel as if I am the character I am controlling. Skyrim and other Bethesda open-world rpg's come closest, but I prefer the tighter storyline of Bioware rpgs. So, there's always that sense of the fourth wall, where I am separate from the characters on screen, and thus, a sex scene feels voyeuristic to me. Just my opinion, YMMV.
edit: forgot to add that I completely agree with your last statement. I wouldn't even mind a few seconds of frontal toplessness, but that's probably beyond what Bioware will go with. Aside from that, no underwear afterwards, just looks silly. Camera angles are the best option (still gives the illusion without actually showing anything) but blankets/folded arms are just as valid.

I know, right? We could've had Custer's Revenge 2: The Search for Curly's Gold if it weren't for the USA.

I will say that while I can take it or leave it when it comes to nudity in games, I think there's something wrong when it is some how acceptable to feature nudity with the intent to horrify and disgust- such as with the Broodmother and the Mother- but it is not acceptable to show nudity in a positive fashion, such as a loving romance scene.
Also how we see a ton more skin of the desire demons while they try to tempt us and others to do evil things.

Well it is actually somewhat true. There are plenty of places in the world were people wouldn't bat an eye if someone walked past them naked.
The Western world has strong christian roots, a such we find our nudie parts to be ickie and not socially acceptable to display for some reason.

Oooooh my gosh. I don't think people are upset over seeing some boobs. I think the whole point , just like Gaider said is that adding more nudity for the sake of adding more nudity does nothing for the games romance plots. It doesn't make them more dark and edgy, all it is, is just more boobs.
You will never capture the real look and emotion of sex with animated pixels, so it really adds nothing. I'd rather they improve upon other things rather than trying to capture the essence of love making in a bunch of pixels. Efforts are futile.
I have absolutely no problem with nudity in the media when it has a purpose. What some of you are suggesting is just unnecessary.
