I agree completely, especially with the underlined. If we have sex scenes, I'm fine with the kissing/fade to black, and also very cool with this.

ME1 had partial nudity, they could do that again. The scenes in the Witcher 2 were down right comical at times.

But I think if you're going to portray adult characters in intimate situations then you shouldn't censor yourself needlessly. You just end up with something that looks awkward or forced and possibly a bit immature. Which was what DA2 seemed like in those scenes.

The audience for this game are adults and it's even rated as such (which is clear for anyone who picks up the game's box in store). I still have to scratch my head at why the gaming industry still seems to be acting like cinemas younger, immature sibling tittering at the possibility of nudity or sex. Games can be an art form on the same level as movies so I don't see why there is this needless ****-footing around the subject.

However if they want to do the weird sex while more or less fully clothed again, then I'd suggest simply fading out after a kiss between the characters.

Kissing scenes at most then a fade to black works fine in my opinion. Not so much as a "Don't want to see it" but engine limitations make it look really awkward.

Nudity that fits in with the storyline, has a point for being there (IE a brothel, a romance sex scene between characters) would be fine, an M rated game can have nudity in it.

Having nudity in the right places, where it makes sense, adds to the game, make sit feel mature (if done tasteful, not just to show boobies but to add to the storyline/characters).

Having a sex scene and always hidding nudity makes it feel "censored" and cheap imo.

The Witcher 2 did it fine, it fit the character and storylines. No one made a huge fuss over it either.

Definitely agree with this. 

I don't think the game inherently needs to have nudity, just as I think there doesn't have to not be any either.


But on a personal note - as a very small chested female myself, who has had to listen to how much I am not a "real/true/worthy/ect female" because of my small size through life, it would be nice to see a small chested female character represented in a video game. But that may be a little besides the point, but still has to do with boobies!

  I always liked that about ME1 FemShep.  At least she never got a cleavage window in her armor even though her boobs got bigger by the time ME3 dropped. 

Nudity in games... I can take it or leave it.  I do support the general sentiment that showing in your clothes is dumb though.

Nudity, sure if you can pull it off well. Otherwise, partial undressing and fade to black is a good way to go, if you can't render the nudity well.

I agree it's pretty insane to have crazy levels of violence like Dragon Age but an "oh no, can't possible show any NUDITY" attitude. Witcher 2 was perfectly fine.

Saying that, I'm a guy and I think there should be an equal ammount of male-to-female nudity, if there's boobs everywhere but all the guys are covered up then it does feel pretty exploitative - if things are more equal well, that's just life and the human body.

Yes, agreed. There is nothing dirtier, more perverse, twisted and overall nastier and naughtier than the human mind anyway!

yes, sex and nudity if it done quite well with liara in ME some of the Witcher II like the intro or the pool.
no if it is done with Bridget Jones nickers or the more corny side of the sex scene in the Witcher.

Go Witcher2 if You want nudity.

Wrestling dolls as seen in DA:O are ridiculous. Except the dwar/elf scene I've seen on Youtube - that wasn't even funny. This being said, I'm still getting faster heartbeat at the sound of Viconia's voice.

If you're going to have romantic scenes, you may as well do them in a half decent way. Personally, I think it adds something to the game if it is something you have worked towards (ie. romances shouldn't be too easy!!).

That said, I fully understand that some people don't like such scenes so there's a simple option:

Why don't Bioware have a nudity off switch in the game setting that triggers a fade to black when such scenes are initiated. It will give people the best of both worlds - no enforced love scenes but they're available for those who want them.
