The policy of the Grey Warden's is not to get involved w/ any politics that don't concern darkspawn however, if your Warden became King/Queen then they would have to get involved being that this is a case of war.

I believe Bioware will at least mention our Warden's in a huge way mainly because of what Morrigan says at the end of Witch Hunt (if you played it). I highly doubt we'll play as the OGB because it's sex is already determined to be a boy which will give us an even more linear story than DAII which Bioware will avoid.

Obviously if your Warden was a mage then he/she along w/ the the other Warden's that are mages will be pulled into the Mage vs. Templar war becase all mages will be seen as a treat thus pulling in the Warden's.

Also I think they have to include the Warden and Hawke because why would Liliana & Cassandra be looking for them otherwise. It only make sense that the two play some role in DAIII:I because of DA2 ending.

I could see a dalish warden being pissed to find that some guy named Hawke wiped out his entire clan.

My DAO Female Human Noble Rogue/Ranger/Bard/Duelist, became Queen, sacrificed Amaranthine, and killed the Architect. She then watched her friend, Morrigan, leave through the portal and according to DA2, the Warden wasn't heard from since (or soon afterwards). Her DA2 counterpart, a Female Hawke S/S Warrior/Templar/Berserker, while a mage sympathizer, was loyal to the tenants of the chantry and the laws of the land. She romanced Anders, but was heartbroken and forced to execute him after his act of terrorism. For the most part, the two characters would have got along, but if brought into a Templar-Mage war, would have been enemies. (The Warden would have been pro-mage. Hawke would have been pro-Templar.)

My DAO Male Elven Mage/Spirit Healer/Arcane Warrior/Battlemage, supposedly freed the Tower from Templar supervision, but in Witch Hunt the Order was still there. He also struck a deal with the Architect and saved Amaranthine, while still providing the resources allowed for the Keep to survive the battle. During Witch Hunt, the Warden stepped through the portal with his beloved Morrigan, I assume, to raise their child together. According to DA2, the Warden hasn't been seen or heard from since. His DA2 counterpart, a Male Hawke Mage/Force Mage/Spirit Healer, was more Anti-Templar then Pro-Mage and took every opportunity to kill and/or embarrass the Order. He was a womanizer and after getting into Merrill's pants, he dumped in favor of Isabella. He stuck with her, only because she was easy and the sex was good. o.O Anyhow, both these characters would have sided with the Mages in a Mage-Templar conflict. However, I suspect the Warden has more pressing issues to attend to.

When it all comes down to it, the only constant in both stories is (1) The Warden-Commander (whether its the DAO Warden who survives the Blight or the DAO: Awakening Orlesian Warden) goes "missing" and hasn't been heard from since the events of DAO: Witch Hunt. (2) Hawke disappears soon after the ending events of DA2, regardless of which side he/she chooses in Act 3.

Truth be told, I can see Hawke no longer part of the "grand story." His/her role could have possibly run its course as the Champion of Kirkwall during the events of that spark a Thedas-wide Mage Rebellion. As for the Warden-Commander, I can also see a his/her role having run its course. I understand the big argument about Leliana's comment at the end of DA2, but in that same scene they also decided to stop searching (at least for now), leaving it "In the hands of the Maker." Whether the search is resumed or if one or both protagonists reemerge in some fashion, is in the realm of possibility, but not really a necessity for the "grand storyline's" continuity. I do think, however, that the storyline provided by DAO: Witch Hunt, should be addressed in more detail in a future game, specifically, what's so important on the other side of the Eluvian.

Unfortunately, I don't believe Surana had a unique reference in DA 2, so I have to assume he's off true neutralling with Branwen?

Considering that Surana can condemn the Chantry controlled Circles, ask for his people to be given their independence, and advocate to Wynne for all the Circles to break free, it's not unrealistic for the pro-mage Surana to get involved in non-Warden business (like he did for both post-Origin DLCs); after all, he could put Alistair on the throne, turn the Hero of River Dane into a Warden, and become the Arl of Amaranthine.

I'd imagine the mages might seek him out to lead them, given his leadership skills and battle experience.

See, you kind of missed the point there. ~_~"

Depends on whom you were talking about. There are a few Branwens, after all.  ^ _ ^
