I would much rather the character gets betrayed and dies. Some dirty trick at the end, like in Red Dead Redemption.
Dude, spoilers.

Like earlier in the game (say twice so you can change it and role-play your character changing their mind) have someone ask them "When this mess is done what do you want to do?" And then when the game's done you do what you said. Retire to a farm and live a quiet life, enter politics and change the world with political clout, move to Rivain, buy a ship, and see what the hell's north of Par Vollen.
You know. Give an absolute end to the character. And nothing mysterious. And probably the love interest too which means probably cutting them out of appearances in sequels.

Why not a retirement plan?

DAO had this and it was great.
Then DA2 had you disappear anyway. Doubly awful by having it come from the mouth of Leliana if she was your LI.
My first post on the DA3 forums is to complain about this. As it should be. I think I'll go find another thread to compain about this for my second post as well.

Yeah the Red Dead Redemption ending was just AMAZING...though if there is an ending like that, hopefully it only happens based on the choices you pick and the actions you do throughout the game.Rawgrim wrote...
