Hi all,

It's become very apparent that some of the major chages made between DA:O & DA:2 were based on the logic that if it works in Mass Effect (or whatever), it works in DA.

Well as we all know this simply isn't the case - a great example being that most of us couldn't give a toss about what race we are in a Space Opera, but that most of us love to play as different races in fantasy RPGs.

Just wondered what other examples of things Bioware should not look to copy from other such games?

EG,. The "Open World" aspect of Skyrim worries me - I don't see how they can incorporate it without diluting the game and losing that tight, story driven feel DA:O had.

Hmm... Well too much linearity from those games would be bad. I mean pipe-like dungeons and areas are pretty dumb. Too much freedom, like you said can be bad. But I'd love tons of sidequests.

Proper RPGs SHOULD be about lots of sidequests. No open world though, please.

DA:O style scale. Although the graphics arent great the areas were very different (although brecillian ruins looked fairly similar to the urn ruins) honestly the best would be witcher 2 style towns (seriously Flotsam had more life than most cities ive ever seen in games) but bigger scale (flotsam was a backwater town) I doubt what I wish for is feasible though. Imagine a city the size of Kirkwall (or rather the capital of Orlais (the name escapes me)) with the detail and life of Flotsam (Reminds me of Athkatla though I can barely remember that game)

The one thing I don't want them to carry over from ME is the MP mode. I just can't see it fitting this type of game, but I am afraid that EA will push for it.

Baldur's Gate had one, coop. And the ME3 MP mode is great fun, just played a few games hour ago.

It fits just fine. Sad thing is that it usualy takes away resources from the singleplayer. Something I hate.

I don't know - the wide open world worked well for Fallout 3 et al, and those games had plenty of side missions as well.

One thing I do hope they don't include is the damn combat system from DA2. That was a huge, huge mistake.

They could very well take somethings from CoD and Skyrim. One thing in particular is to not change what the game is supposed to be with every new title, and make one kind of game well.

I wouldn't mind a BG/BG2-style co-op at all, but while a horde mode clone fits a shooter like ME3- it doesn't (imo) fit DA. They should find their own way and not just copy ME3. Co-op campaign would satisfy EA's demand for MP and it wouldn't alienate the core fans. Just my two cents.

Come on, people! ME3 multiplayer was FPS because ME3 was an FPS. If there's DA3 multiplayer, it will be DA3 gameplay, end of story--that's the least work, cost, development time, etc.
