Is fixed race again a deal breaker?

It has the potential to be a deal breaker for me. It depends on how bad I want to play and how good the game looks. Races and an okay game are a sure buy, no races and an okay game is a no buy. A great game will be a buy no matter what.

But for me, I am VERY disappointed that Bioware has strayed away from you being able to pick your races. That was one thing I always thought they did well. My City Elf Warden is my all time favorite.

A "fixed" race is really no skin off my back.  I'm more concerned being able to determine who my character is, not what.

I'll buy it, but I want to play as an elf. As a human in real life, playing one is redundant.

It's not a deal breaker but playing as an elf or dwarf would be nice.

Doesn't really worry me to be honest. But then I don't have any real desire to have to play as a dwarf or elf. We have been there done that many times before.

In saying that however, I would love to play as one of the Aliens in ME4. That just seems much more unique to me.

Meh. A lot of games with multiple in-game races have fixed race protagonists. Hell, PS:T even had fixed gender and backstory, and was still one of the best RPGs ever.

It all depends on how the roleplaying pans out in-game. The character creation screen and first hour, while fun and important, don't make or break a game for me.

It's not a deal breaker, but I'd prefer to be able to choose race like in Origins.

I always like more customization options and given a choice of race, plain old human is the last one I'll pick...but it's not a deal breaker for me. If the protagonist's role is such that only one race would suit it and anything else would be hard to explain (like a dwarven or kossith templar/Seeker/anything involved with the Chantry), then it's even preferable.

This.  I'd rather have fixed race than nonsensical race options.  Origins did a good job, but some of BioWare's D&D-based games pretty much broke the timeline when the PC belonged to a longer-lived race.

Not being able to pick a race is not a deal breaker for me.
A non-enjoyable story is my only deal breaker.

Not a deal-breaker. For DA series new protagonist is a feature. And the fact that it most likely will be human only ... Well, we could live with it in ME and DA2, could not we? As long as the story supports that decision (and it will) I am fine.

Though I would love to see different short stories (well, origins) for different classes, or just a couple backgrounds unrelated to classes, not one as in DA2.

For me, it's not that big of a deal.
Yeah, I'd be disappointed if we had a fixed race yet again, but I'd still be willing to buy it.
