Nope. Would prefer having races, but it's no deal-breaker.

Indeed.  Having the other races in Origins was neat, but it didn't seem to have much significance.  If they're going to have different races, I prefer it to have actual mechanical significance of some kind.

Basically, is it the lack of background that's the dealbreaker? If the devs gave us multiple non race specific backgrounds to choose from, but racial options in the CC, would that be acceptable?

Ah, I see someone else brought up this point as well! I probably should have read the posts before mine more carefully.

YES! :D Thanks for outlining that so succinctly. :kissing:

I wont exactly be happy about it but I would probably accept it, but if they then go and add different races to multiplayer that I wont be able to accept.

Depends. I want origins. If it isn't possible, then different backgrounds.

Nope not a deal breaker. If you give the option of being a dwarf and no one acknowledges this in game i may as well be a human character off the bat

No but I would prefer to be able to choose another race besides a human.

I think a lot of players took one look at the Dwarf option and laughed, then grudgingly tried the diminutive elf option but quickly switched to human simply because the character model looked nicer.

I'm not really fussed so long as there isn't a "default" Inquisitor who looks awesome plus a bunch of limited custom Inquisitors who look massively fugly by comparison.

It's really amazing how in many senses the non-customisable head/potrait options in KOTOR 1 feel more diverse than the DA2 options.

I played Dwarf in DA:O first playthrough just for the hell of it. TBH I prefer a fixed race option if it means the main character is voiced

For replay value sake, I want more races.

I am fine with it. I liked the Origins but I just want them to make a great game. If removing those extra variables helps, so be it.

I don't want to be forced to play a dwarf. Never.

Yes, humans are all racists.

Disappointing, but no.
I still enjoyed DA2  (but I gotta admit, 75% of the enjoy part came from modding) so I think I can get over it.

Considering it's based on data that's uploaded to Bioware as you play the game, you can bet it's way more accurate than the pools you see here on BSN or other gaming sites.

Yeah, that's what I had in mind when I raised my point.  I guessed that much of it would be from the data collected from those of us who were playing the game connected to the internet and with the feedback option on (which as someone pointed out is only accurate to those with an internet connection or participating in the feedback).  Regardless of those who aren't part of that, I have to wonder how much context can really be had from that data or how long they actively monitor that feedback.

I'd prefer a fixed race, if it means a voiced protagonist. Voicing several different protagonists would mean that detail is being taken away from other areas of the game, which would make me unhappy.

No but it's really disappointing since i like being a dwarf and wanted to marry a qunari for laughs

Not a deal breaker, but it would make me grumpy-face. The different races and origins were one of the best things about the first game.

For me, having a fixed race is never a deal breaker as I find that racial selection is more of a bonus in games rather than a must (that and I'm tired of the typical races presented in RPGs anyways... Go for the Lunar style races for once!)

Not for me. I hardly ever play something else than humans anyway. Other races I may try for a change, but usually I leave them midway through, for various reasons...

I played elves 75% of the time in DA:O, but that probably wouldn't be the case if they kept the character style from DA2.

It would be a deal-breaker for me. I don't play role-playing fantasy games to be a human. I could play any variety of games for that.

It's not a dealbreaker, but I'd love it if we could have different races and/or background stories from which to choose. And this will probably never happen, but if we can choose different races it would be cool if you could play as a kossith, in addition to the standard humans, dwarves and elves.

I doubt many people will say yes. They said something like 70% of playthrus were done with human characters. Out of the 30% of people who played non-human I doubt even a third of that were so super concerned about playing a specific race. Bioware isn't going to give a damn about such a small number of players. (The truth hurts)
