Do you want Origin stories to make a return from DA:O? I want Origin stories to make a return from DA:O. To me, they're one of the reasons DA:O is replayable.
Y/N to origins in DA3?

Yes to Origins loved that for each of the races an spec choices differed an don't mind that the player character is unvoiced if it means more choices to play.

Yes. But oi, make it so the PC's origin has more of an impact in the game than it did in DA:O.

Given the title, I have my doubts that there will be Origins, but I would very much like them.

The title? You mean Inquisition? Sure, the character becomes an inquisitor but so does the warden join the grey wardens. It doesn't mean there can't be different starting points before they converge.Aulis Vaara wrote...

That said, I don't expect Origins to return, but I do expect a variable background system a la Mass Effect.

Yeah, but the Wardens are an order of warriors. It stands to reason they'll take anyone with skill. Inquisitors, on the other hand, seem more like people with a certain upbringing. Which also begs the question on which kind of characters you can potentially role-play. There might be a lot of religious railroading.

The reason that Origins seem less likely in DA3 is that the protagonist is supposed to be voiced. That nixes having the many options that DA:O was able to have due to a silent protagonist.

Not sure exactly what the title has to do with it--this is a setup similar to Origins where you wind up an Inquisitor no matter where you start from, so putting Origins back in would be possible if not simple.
I hope for Origins as well.

I mention something like this in the topic asking for the five things you would like to see in DA 3.
My suggestion goes the route of an Origins style opening to allow for playing races other than being limited to a specific human family.
The Origins segment (based on race selection) would cover the history of events to date from the previous games that allows the player to create create and play the character they design (races being limited to the locale of course) and allow new players who haven't played the previous games to catch up on history.

I think maybe a class based prologue (kinda origin style) would be cool, or even just the one prologue where we get to experience our protagonists life, prior to all hell breaking loose.

Depends on the plot, I would probably play as human male any way in my main play through... Simply feels like I can relate to that. =P But if the plot is open enough then why the heck not?
