Except for Isabella, I didn't really view my companions as bisexual. I mean, they never told me they were, or weren't, or whatever. The fact that game mechanics allowed them to be romanced by either gender Hawke isn't the same thing, IMO.

@Riosred, there are places to discuss whether you find bisexual LIs 'realistic'. This is not it.

I'll just post the same as what I put in the m/m and f/f thread seeing I'm all for bi LIs, but honestly, I'd like the same personality type regardless of which gender PC the character is willing to bonk.

I really hope there is a male LI who is stoic and cool. It was an appealing thing about Sten. Someone who doesn't show their feelings easily, is intelligent and has an unexpected snarky sense of humour. I'd like someone pragmatic too, not sweetness-and-light or kitten-kicking evil. A guy who's quite ruthless, but he does it for practical reasons, unlike say Morrigan, who liked doing lots of things For The Evulz it seemed. Maybe Rivaini, in appearance. Or kossith. Could either be grizzled and rugged (we haven't had any of those) or refined and elegant. Or both! But without the same personality... obviously.

And for female LI (I assume those can be posted in this thread for male protagonists to romance?) then one with an excellent sense of humour and a light-hearted side, similar to Isabela or Varric in that respect. Again, gray morality, not an extreme. I'd also love a dwarven female LI (loved Sigrun). Or kossith. *dodges stones*

Homosexual here, and I would also like to see set sexualities for characters. Not wanting everyone of the gender in question to share your character's sexuality isn't homophobia.

That said, I don't really mind the "everyone is bisexual" route much either, as long as they don't retcon it.

is it possible for the 'bi' for or against posts to stick in the thread about that subject? I'd hate to see this one locked...

You missed the locked thread.. people comparing having bisexual npc in their game as the same as being forced to eat rat poison. They all start saying  "I have nothing against gays/ I have gay friends but.." then let out their nasty bigotry seep into their comments.

That's actually Ser Arthur Dayne from the same universe. U know, now that u mentioned it, a jaime lannister (well, at least the "reformed" version) type of character would be very compelling as a companion, let alone a romantic interest. Never a good person, nor truly evil.

Well, I certainly don't liken it to that, but I think that set sexualities for characters is preferable to everyone being bi.

In any event, it's probably best to stop derailing to minimise the risk of this thread getting into hot water. :)

Oops forgot my comment! Jaime Lannister is the ultimate bad boy. I still wouldn't kick him out of bed for eating crackers.

How about incest?

Can we have Alistair again? I'd have no qualms about stealing him from my other character.

Seriously though Steve and his character made that game

I still don't like Jaimie Lannister. And I'll be more than happy if we don't get a character who acts and/or looks like him.

I think the actor that plays him in the HBO series is smokin' hawt. I also can understand finding his personality very attractive, but the whole incest thing is a complete deal breaker for me. But I will assume you mean Jaime Lannister minus the incest.

Nth'ing for Nathaniel. I would die a happy woman if he were to be romanceable. And given the Warden's 5-30 year lifespan, and the fact that at the end of DA2 he's been a Warden for 8-9 years (if he lived) there's the potential for some awesomely heartbreaking drama with his Calling.

Also I know that Galyan/Cass was hinted at in the movie, but I'd really enjoy romancing Galyan. Unf. He's amusing, sweet, and with a kindness to him.

And I'd also love the Tevinter Magister that's been hinted at in the survey. I do love mage revolutionaries. ;)

Cullen's psycho dialogue in DA:O was a major turn-off for me, added to the ending where he went crazy and slaughtered a bunch of innocent mage apprentices. No thank you.

Also I'd LOVE to see where a Sebastian rivalmance goes...:) I know Hawke will only be returning as an NPC if at all, though. Give us a chance to REALLY rivalmance the prince in DA3. :D

I think what I'd really like in a male LI is confidence. That really drew me to Zev, and I liked his friendlier attitude in contrast to Fenris' aggressive bravado. I love Anders more than any male LI, but he's a very vulnerable man, and I don't need all of my favorite LIs to be clones of each other.

I think someone with a strong sense of honor, perhaps a warrior's self-control would be intriguing as well- a bit like Garrus, where he could be a steadfast friend and companion, but also a surprisingly wonderful romance.

Also nth'ing for dark hair- Al, Zev and Anders are blondies, Seb's a redhead, Fen might have been dark-haired at one time if his eyebrows are any indication, but we've yet to have a raven-haired male LI.

Of course most of the above come back to Nathaniel. ;)

if my character was to romance anyone in DA3 is would have to be a guy like Garrus. He had it all in my opinion and I'm not just saying that because I a Garrus fangirl...

He was adorabably awkwark
Tough guy
Sometimes not always cool and clam
Had a sence of humour
Was a family man
He had his moments of weakness and I was happy to be there for him (you know when he didn't hear from his family and was worried about them)
It also seemed like he actually cared for my character
And the two had a good time in each others company

So that would be the kind of guy I'd want in DA3 for my character

I have no name to offer but a basic archetype i'd like to see:

Someone bitter and angry, but shielded by humour, arrogance and wit. Someone who is openly fun amongst the inevitable crazies, yet also suffers from pains and torments himself. Instead of being dominated by their tragedies, they hide it all behind fake smiles and charming misdirection.

Basically - Someone dashing, charming, a little, tiny bit arrogant and fun on the surface yet deep, complex and astonishingly darker and more jaded the further you progress into the relationship.

I like the sound of this.

Ditto! :wizard:

so how about:

-a veteran chevalier
-stern
-popular with the people
-confident
-loyal to the common people he's sworn to protect, even if it means going against his superiors
-a love for combat, imagine oghren's love of fighting mixed with aveline's rigorous attitude with training

I don't think it's homophopia. I don't mind bi followers but making all characters bi is really unrealistic.

Who would want to romance Cullen? He's a lunatic who thinks mages aren't even people, pretty much just feral animals and he kills some in the Fereldan circle after losing it. Wish I could gank him in DAO and DA2, he's mad.

Well, I would like the option to romance someone who's a bit of a lunatic for once. Almost like Morrigan with the approving of killing for your own benefit, being snarky and kinda insane and selfish. Need more loonies in my squad, but ones who are actually entertaining to talk to, not just b!tching and whining all the time like Fenris and Anders. Blegh.

Ahhh, and someone who has a sense of good humour who could cheer me up in a crappy place like mass war. Like let me romance Varric, or someone close to. Damn Bioware! Can't dangle that chest hair in front of me like that!

Who would want to romance Cullen?

People who like the possible future that the character has?

Might as well be asking why I would choose to pursue a completely messed up, angry and emotionally broken character as a romance. I wouldn't, I would choose to pursue a romance with a complex human being that has the potential to be a stable, kind-hearted and genuinely good person.

I would want to see the character grow and develop through-out the game and ultimately become either a genuinely good bloke who's finally happy again, or a twisted wreck of a man that is so full of bitterness and rage that it consumed all semblance of humanity.

It's not hard to believe that people see the "bad" in a character and choose to see the potential that it offers. While simply saying "Cullen" isn't entirely productive in the grand scheme of things, there is still potential within his character that people would like to see develop through romance, or in other cases through friendship.

It's not always about what the character is, so much as what they can become.

And just for the record: I don't like Cullen and I'm not trying to speak for his fans, but there are a lot of things to consider and I feel that character development needs to be considered a lot more than it currently is. It seems that potential development often takes a back seat to people's complete lack of objective assessment. (No offense intended, to anyone)
