In other words, I think I'd like to be surprised this time around.

I have no name to offer but a basic archetype i'd like to see:
Someone bitter and angry, but shielded by humour, arrogance and wit. Someone who is openly fun amongst the inevitable crazies, yet also suffers from pains and torments himself. Instead of being dominated by their tragedies, they hide it all behind fake smiles and charming misdirection.
Basically - Someone dashing, charming, a little, tiny bit arrogant and fun on the surface yet deep, complex and astonishingly darker and more jaded the further you progress into the relationship.
I must confess, I wasn't expecting my archetype to be so popular..*Snip*

Since I have a nice funny normal guy in real life, I don't mind playing a game with a drama drenched love interest. Bring on the whiners, brooders, untrustworthy types, I say! It's a game and I want something heart-wrenching and bittersweet. It makes a much better story. As happy as I am with my real life relationship, it would be sooooo boring in a game.
That said, I would love to see Cullen introduced as a LI. Mostly because I think he's going to have some Templar issues -- possible lyrium addiction, two traumatic experiences -- so much potential for a dramatic love story!

Since this post is getting a lot of attention, I figure I'll post this here, since it's a greater explanation of what I'm talking about, and more likely to receive notice if it's here and not on some no-name post on Page 3:Page 3 quote from Sylvanpyxie:
It isn't a character archetype that is hiding sorrow, it's a character archetype that has moved so far beyond sorrow that all they have left is hatred, anger and bitterness. The personality I suggested isn't the type of character that would weep into his pillow, much more likely to scream bloody murder in someone's face and threaten bodily harm, or fob them off with a joke I suppose.
Now that it's clarified, I imagine there won't be a lot of interested in it.

Self loathing is a powerful thing. We've seen companions hate the world, i'd like to see a companion hate themselves for a change, is that twisted? I also like the concept of a romance getting worse before it gets better.
A character that starts off charming, flirty and ultimately appealing, then he opens up and turns out to be a broken, battered mess of a man, it appeals to me. I like to be surprised, and the majority of romances in RPGs have always been exactly what they say on the tin and just once i'd like to be surprised by the content.
It also offers two distinct conclusions to the romance - You encourage his self destructive nature, turning him into a twisted, contemptuous wreck of a man, or you push him towards solemn acceptance and healing, eventually becoming a genuinely happy person.
I don't know, there's just something about the whole archetype appeals to me. Maybe it's my love of tragedy.

Funnily enough, Sebastian could quite easily fit into the archetype I created on Page 1.Unchaste Sebastian as a LI

Honestly, I just want someone to take me for a good ride (not just in the dirty way). Good story that is compelling and a little bit messed up. Give me that, and I'll be happy. Oh and not Sebastian. Never Sebastian.

Or, keep doing it so I can be lazy. It's cool.
The only problem with Sebastian is the fact that his story isn't finished.the problem with Sebastian
There's a lot to hate about him, but I personally find his conflicted nature compelling and his burning passion to be admirable.... Though he's one heck of a pillock when he wants to be.Oh and not Sebastian. Never Sebastian.
