No oversexualization, but they need to be sexy though. Otherwise the bsn will complain that bioware sucks with its ugly characters.

Your claims of female character being too busty and unnatural is not only disingenious but offensive. Some women naturally have larger breast than others, there is nothing unnatural about it.Maybe you should get over your own insecurities.

You can't honestly be suggesting that there wasn't oversexualization of the women of ME....? I mean argue about stupid **** all you want but this is pretty obvious.

Dragon Age needs much more inspiration from Frank Frazetta and Boris Vallejo, less from Disney.

I love Frazetta, but that guy was all about oversexualization. I think what they need is more variety in body types/character models ( I know this is expensive, few games do it ) and they need to think of practical considerations when designing outfits and armor. The convention of women baring their cleavage in battle should be dead.

Yeah, but I think the problem is that not ALL women are overly busty. Especially not atheletic ones. Some people are extremely flat-chested, some people have double ds; this doesn't mean that every important character needs giant boobs though.

Every character had different sizes, for example bethany and merrill were rather small in the chest area.

Why didn't Hawke's mom get that memo? And comparing Merrill, part of the tiny alien people, to Bethany, a human, is a little unfair. You could have used FemHawke and Bethany though. No armor made my Hawke look like Bethany.(Mods excluded.)

And? If I want the experience of wishing people would cover up, I can take a stroll on any American beach.

I like big butts and I can not lie!
You other brothers can't deny
That when a girl walks in with an itty bitty waist
And a round thing in your face
You get sprung!

Which is to say, I don't mind the eye candy.

Oh goodness gracious.  First off, these kind of comments are actually kind of rude to women who aren't well endowed.  They deserve representation just as much as you do.  Secondly, what does that have to do with practical armor, that also looks good?

Asking for sensible armor is not oppressing women with large breasts.  Do you walk around in a cleavage baring top when you're going to work, or doing something that you need to be comfortable and have ease of motion to perform?  Probably not, because generally, women wear "sexy" clothing at appropriate times.  If I'm shoveling dirt in the backyard, I don't want to wear a corset.

Personally, I LOVE seeing female characters in video games who are dressed appropriately for the occasion.  Triss in Witcher 2, for instance, was mostly covered up during the game.  I believe she was also naked at some point, but the fact remains that when the context was appropriate, she was wearing an outfit that was believable, attractive, and functional.

Both DA games were pretty decent in this regard, although I would ask to let someone like Isabela change her outfit occasionally, if they're going to be around for seven years.  She was a person who cared about her appearance, and it would have made sense to let her have a different look between Acts.  And no, a different corset if romanced doesn't count.

.....but..but..I Loved FemHawke's Swagger. Yes! Swagger. So much better than the way my Warden shuffled around Ferelden like an awkward 14 year old girl. Ugh. Shoulders slightly hunched over, too. Ack.

She was a guddam Warden! Saving teh world and all that. She shoulda had some Swagger. pssshhh.

On the subject: Game Theory: Boobs
Personally i like oversexuality if it fits character. Isabela is a person that enjoys, well sex, and uses it as an advantage too. I found her design perfectly in sync with er personality.

Also a woman i have to say i don't find charachters like isabela having huge breasts particularly attractive. All i think is "ouch". Cause seriously knowing how annoying/painful stuff like running, swimming, or whatever can be i just look at them, imagine all the gymnastic style rogue moves they do and wince in sympathy. Posted Image

For real. Just seeing her do backflips and those combat rolls makes me go "OUTCH!" Also:

I agree with the OP. Nothing wrong with sexy characters. Problem is when they exist more to be sexy than be an actual character. This happens particularly often with female characters.

This! ^^

You know, neither of these issues relates to sexuality or sexism or any sort of artistic philosophy...it mostly has to do with recycling assets. If you want women with different sized breasts in the game, you need not only different base physical body models--you need 3d models of clothes and armor speficically for each of the base female body models. So if you have three base female bodies, you've just tripled the number of 3d model files for female clothing and armor. Or you need to develop an elaborate and usually quite imperfect system of mesh scaling, and accept all kinds of unforeseen and uncontrollable clipping issues.

Giant boobs, tight corset, no pants=oversexualized
Giant metal boobs, metal ******=oversexualized

Isabela jumps around like an acrobat. Like it or not, no one with that level of mobility could have huge knockers and wear a corset at all times.
EDI is in a robot body that was designed for infiltration yet has big metal boobs and somehow a ******.
That's oversexualization.

Usually mods are the other way around. I had to give her pants too. It looked like someone stole her pants from gym class and she was just too damn proud to let it get the best of her.

I swear women obsess about breasts more than men do. Can't we all just agree that they are just fun? No need to vilify them. I can get behind the argument that the characters should have an actual personality too, but I don't think Bioware has ever been guilty of creating a character that didn't.

A sterling example of gratuitous oversexualization in ME2 and ME3: Miranda, her wedgie, and the cutscene designers' constant need to rub the camera in it.

Have you read David Gaider's blog post about how party member customization is going to be handled in the future?  It may be subject to change, but it's not as difficult as you're making it out to be, if they do implement that system.  The whole point, I assume, is to let individual characters have their individual body models, while also letting them change their appearance.  This would be a perfect example of a way to implement the system.

Obviously, not all NPCs are going to be affected by this, but as long as peasant ladies aren't suddenly forced to wear chainmail bikinis because of reasons, I think I can deal with them all having the same bodies.
