Co-operative. Yeah, it's pretty much playing alongside a friend on a campaign.

Oh, so like in Diablo then. I'm not the biggest fan of that, but I liked the ME3 multiplayer well enough.

I don't want multiplayer. But if they are going to do it they will need to spend a lot of time on it to make sure it's damn good.

what is so wrong with PuGs yeah maybe early it sucks but you go you meet cool people. i have about 20 people on my friends list that i met playing mass effect that i can play with and have fun. whats wrong with meeting people. if you dont want that get your rl friends into the game to play with you. you are not forced to make your game public

Uhhr. Pugs... Multiplayer which involves pugs is annoying as it is. I would not ever want to see it in DA.

No, you are quite wrong or quite unlucky.  I play mostly public games and I'd say about 85% of the games are just fine, enjoyable and the players are A okay.

I have zero interest in multiplayer, I'm a 360 player and I have to pay to play online, which I have no interest in doing anymore. If multiplayer plays a major roll in DA3(either by affecting the SP experience of if it has a lot of achievements that require MP, those will both be factors in me buying the game.

In ME3 you have two choices of games to create/join.  A public one or a private one.  If you choose private you can invite friends into the game  (roster of from 1 to 4 people) and no one else can join.  If you choose public then as it indicates anyone from anywhere can join the game.

The missions are cooperative, you face certain enemies on certain maps.  There are about 10 waves to go through for a match.  Most of the waves are just eliminating  the enemy however there are 3 'objective waves' where you have to hack a computer, accomany a drone to a safe spot, kill some major enemies etc.

You obtain credits for completing matches which are split into 4 different ability levels (Bronze, silver, gold, Platinum).  With the credits you purchase things from a store which may give you new classes, weapons, mods, imrpove weapons give healing packs etc.)  You can also spend ms or bioware points (as in real money) to buy these packs if you desire.

The game is real time so no pausing which seems daunting if you are a serial game pauser like me but it doesn't take long to adjust.  you get a stripped down set of abilites  (As in you may get only 3 abilites to use rather than the huge number of abilites you have to choose from in the single player game.

The key to succes (especially at the higher levels) is team work and cohesiveness.  It's actually quite fun overall and I think would be fun in DA s well.

A "Gifting system" like some of the above would be ok
far as actual MP i just dont see a good way to do so unless its warrior VS rouges and no mages

Coop *could* work, but most likely wouldn't.

It'd be fully possible to do well with competetive Team/Scenario-based multiplayer, which I'd personally prefer. Just no stupid horde-mode please.

(Of course, all competetive multiplayer pretty much requires the game to ditch the half-tactical mmo-style combat in favor of something better and faster)

I voted 'no MP,' even though I know the game is guaranteed to have multiplayer.

EA has decided that all of its games must have a multiplayer function. We will no longer see a Bioware game that is exclusively single player.

Thanks for taking the time to write that out! I'm familiar with the ME3 system, but I figured that type was what is described here as "multiplayer." I was wondering what the main difference would possibly be between multiplayer and co-op when talking about a BioWare game.

I don't hate the idea just as long as I don't have to play it like I was forced to do in mass effect 3

it should be an extra option for people who like that sort of thing

I think mass effect 3 did a good job with multi player for the most part

It's funny...I'm so very much not for multiplayer that when I wrote "co-op", I didn't mean ME3's standalone stuff, I meant the NWN/BG model of main story co-op. Wish I could change the poll to reflect that. Alas. Still, it's a fairly sizable majority against any form of MP.

Some of the responses seem nonsensical to me.

Really? Comparing Dragon Age to ME3 MP? Is Dragon Age in any way the same as ME?

I fear that such responses are going to make DA3:I become ME3 just so EA can have their MP because that seems to be the kind of MP the pro-MP people want.

I don't like multiplayer as I have stated in other posts. I play on xbox 360 and I already have to pay for my internet connection for my computer so I am not going to pay for xbox live on top of that just to have to play a game with multiplayer. EA is going to make it to where it has to be in there, but don't tie it to the singleplayer experience. This is not a MMORPG, if I want that there are plenty of other games out there I can play. They should take a page out of CDPR where their whole focus is the player and their gaming experience.

Ultimately, that's how I feel, too.  EA seems insistent on taking up space and resources with MP for games when that feature is better served elsewhere (MMORPGs).  Dragon Age doesn't need any kind of multiplayer, certainly not some kind of separate mode jammed onto the disc.  One of the worst parts of ME3 was getting missions...only to discover that the map locations were MP players and the missions were all of two minutes long, full of drab combat.

That's really where I think EA doesn't get it: the combat is the least compelling element to an RPG.  It's the story and characters first and foremost.  If I just want mechanics, number crunching, spell-spamming, and multiplayer, I can go play WoW.

If this is done as its mass effect 3 or they abandoned the campaign because of the multi I say no!

Small Co-op campaigns? (Made for co-op, but maybe you get some goodies to use in Singel player?) Maybe like swtor instances/raids? But if it is like the multiplayer would in some way reduce the awesomeness of DA3s campaign then it can stay away.

So uh, isn't the point of an RPG to play with friends in some form?

I'd prefer Bioware try and make a good single player game (like Origins). No multiplayer please.

I have been playing RPG's for a long time (I am talking the old school ones).  And I have never played an RPG that I have had to play with other people.  That to me is an MMORPG.  That is where you get your multiplayer.  If I wanted that I would play such games.  I am not saying that people can't have that in their RPG, all I am stating is not to force me, the singleplayer, to have to play it in order to play the game.  I don't want that to be placed in my singleplayer game.

If they do it like it was done in BG2, where other playes could play as your companions, then maybe I wouldn't mind. That's about it though.

Baldurs Gate?  Or IceWind Dale? I mean, thats off the top of my head but both had multiplayer modes that allowed for party play.

I mean, lets be honest, the point of a RPG is to tell a story and have interaction with people. Most old school pen and paper guys do that a lot, its why they hate video game RPGs.

So really, saying no to multiplayer is a bit ironic, considering the function of an RPG is to be social interaction by design, which is something most RPG's never do. Just pointing this out really.
