Apparently everybody's forgotten about NWN, a game that Bioware made that was acclaimed ONLY for its multiplayer and modding community (and third expansion, but that's beside the point). I think, personally, co-op would be fun IF it's a totally seperate campaign, which isn't far-fetched, considering it's made by a different team. I don't want it to be the SAME campaign, because, if there is anything we learned from NWN, it's when a game is optimized for single AND multiplayer, the story and characters kinda suck. Combine this with modding tools AND a good story and characters, and we have the game that might just save Bioware from worldwide critical failure.
But that's just MY opinion.

Since DA3 should primarily be about SP, Baldur's Gate is probably a better example. BG was the complete package. It had great SP AND MP. So, Bioware already proved they can do both just fine. And I personally think ME3 does both very well too. ME3's MP actually caught me by surprise. I never thought something so simple and repetitive would get me addicted.

You seriouslly cannot think Bioware might make a good MP just because they made an awesome MP system 10 years ago.

And I disagree that saying "we don't want MP" is pointless.  Even if some kind of mode is mandated, this kind of feedback could shape what kind of MP gets implemented and how much.

Is that targeted to me or just towards the general opinion of the fans? Because i didn't say i don't want MP.

LOL, no, toward the post above me at the time!  Sorry.

Also, props for the Littlefinger avatar pic. :-)

Pointless to say "no" now if the intent is to shape what kind MP they make.

They had a thread to do just that, shape the MP, but it went nowhere because people kept saying that they didn't want it. That doesn't help. It doesn't describe what they'll accept.

It is pointless to just say "I don't want it" now. They're going to have it. Say something to guide MP if you want to guide it.

Currently there are 197 votes for "No multiplayer at all, please."

200 people should count for something BioWare, should it not?

You seriously CAN think it. I'm proof that it's possible to be, you know, POSITIVE.

I didn't say they WILL make a good MP system, but they sure as hell MIGHT. It's even possible it will be the best MP system ever. It's not PROBABLE, mind you, but POSSIBLE it is. It's even possible that Bioware will beat the odds (and the criticism) and make a game better than DA:O. I highly doubt it, though. I think it is possible that they will make a decent multiplayer mode. And if they don't, no matter, I could just go back to single player. (Assuming it doesn't give you rewards in the story for playing MP, and I honestly think Bioware learned their lesson there.)

I would leave it entirely up to the devs and whether they have any ideas where they think it would be worth it. ME3 multiplayer has been amazingly successful, but then the DA gameplay doesn't naturally lend itself to multiplayer as well as ME so I am a bit skeptical.

I could live with co-op, I could not live with "A COMPANION HAS FALLEN"

I play an mmorpg & it can be fun BUT the DA universe is much more personal for me. Will really have to wait and see before purchasing it. That just gives me another reason to wait for a deep discount. I am very patient, lol. There are plenty of other games I can play while I bide my time.

Since I'm pretty sure MP is established as what they're hoping for (even if it isn't officially 'confirmed') I'd like to see light-interaction, MAYBE some co-op. However due to how co-op works I don't think that... that co-op WILL work. In the DA's dice-roll style. Especially since it means a second custom character that just shows up out of nowhere.

I'd prefer no multiplayer at all, but if they absolutely have to add it, I hope they don't do like in ME3 where you initially had to play MP to get the decent ending. No gameplay links between the actual game and MP please!

I hate playing with people I don't know.

Whilst I don't particularly want DA3 to have multiplayer, I can't really see it fitting in well with the type of gameplay it has, I can see co-op easily fitting in something like Skyrim, not so much DA, do you realllllllllly want to sit there on co-op whilst your friend chats up a companion? or have conversations about their pet nug.

But I think I remember reading somewhere that EA started a new policy shortly after DA2 was released that all of its new games released must have some kind of online play, in which case if there has to be I'd rather the multiplayer aspect be something like it was in ME3; something that doesn't interfere too much with single player.
Or better yet (depending on DA3's plot) even something bigger like the WvWvW battles in Guild Wars 2, weekly epic battles of mages vs templars vs Qunari etc.

Far too early for a definite opinion, but from what little information I've gathered, I don't see how any kind of multiplayer would fit the game...

Considering these games sell millions of units, no.

Multiplayer will be a very touchy issue to deal with for BW. My personal preference is that as long as the multiplayer element does not interfere with or impact my single player campaign than multiplayer is more than welcome. I would not mind inviting a friend to a game and have the both of us play through the main campaign in some form of co-op or even being able to recruit my friend's character as a party member in my game, I would be happy with that feature alone for DA3. However, I would really like to see BW include features in their mp campaign like Capture the Flag, King of the Hill and Free-for-All, just some senseless fun for my Rogue character to kick ass! I am not really a big fan of multiplayer when it is used to supplement the story of the main game and I do not think that their ME3 multiplayer model would suit DA3. With that said, I am really hoping that they keep the multiplayer separate from the story of the main game with the exception of being able to carry over items, weapons, armour and hopefully even party members from the multiplayer to the single player mode.

I would love a multiplayer fantasy game. I don't understand why everyone's against it.

My only concern is that I play on a separate platform from all of my friends, so I wouldn't be able to enjoy it with them.

I feel people too easily overlook the issue that if MP exists, then it is taking up disc space, resources, and assets that could have been SP material. Even if the mode is unconnected to the SP game, it still impacts the SP game because you are getting less of it.

The only kind of MP I'd like to see, is the kind there was in NWN.

A toolset, a DM client and the ability for everyone to create their own setting with Bioware's blessing. It's been ten years since NWN was released, and there are ~still~ a number of permanent worlds out there, with a solid player-base.

This is actually unlikely(cept the disc space part, which is silly).

See EA now owns Bioware and allocates funds to all its various companies according to their various games. EA decided that all its games will now have some form of multiplayer aspect. This means EA is probably either allocating a separate budget for multiplayer in all its games, or taking the less likely route of tacking on a substantial additonal sum to the regular fund(this is unlikely for a variety of reasons, not the least of which being that the sub-company might make no effort at a good MP, and simply use the extra funds for SP). In either case the funds that are being spent on MP would not actually be spent on SP.

If Bioware went with no MP, it would likely have no impact on the SP(besides whatever goodies we might've been able to earn in MP).

When I pick up a game in a store and look at the back, if I see "GET INVOLVED IN THE MULTIPLAYER ACTION!" emblazoned upon the blurb and screenshots, I put down the game and walk away.

If age ratings were properly enforced online, all the 6 year olds would vanish from the intertubes, the multiplayer gaming market would collapse and all would be right with the world again.

Sadly, most of those 6 year olds are actually in a 20-somethings body... :?

True, but I think it would be safe to say that the playerbase for a Dragon Age mp would be different from the stereotypical Call of Duty crowd which, understandably, turns people away from mp in general. This is just a generalization and I'm not looking to bash COD players. For instance, in ME3's multiplayer, it's easy to find good players to play with thanks to the ME3 mp board and groups you can sign up with to play. I don't see how this would be any different for Dragon Age's multiplayer. Getting to play with other gamers who are just as enthusiastic about Dragon Age as I am sounds like something worth checking out.

No. Bioware needs to spend all its time to make DA3 a success otherwise this could be the last title we will see from Bioware. If DA3 goes south, I foresee that the only game that Bioware would be working on in the future is BattleField, maybe.

To those who are referencing ME3, well ME3's MP will not work in DA, unless DA becomes a shooter. If Bioware makes team survival MP for DA like ME3, it would be a disaster. If DA3 needs to have MP, it would have to be something like Diablo III - but that would require more resource than simply popping enemies for players to shoot at.

So spend more time on the actual game and story itself - and dont forget the ending. Players do not want vague or philosophical endings, they like a solid and satisfying one.
