RPGs do not need a MP element, certainly not a separate mode that does nothing but take up space and resources (thus thinning out the SP element).

I'm not really in possession of any strong feelings for multiplayer, but of it were done this would be my ideal.

The inclusion of MP only offers more choice to the gamer, the option to play one mode or the other, and in a game built around choice isn't more options a good thing?
My ideal vision for MP would be a drop in / drop out co-op (with local MP) for the main campaign werein other players assume control of the host's party members. A ME3 styled "Horde Mode" would acceptable as well, in this mode we could play as myriad of fantasy creatures, and work together to bring down AI foes. PvP I would be iffy on, and abosolutly no MP based campaigns. Reason being, from my experience, "MP stories" have been very short, and shallow versions of the "main campaign"; take Halo 4's Spartan Ops vs the campaign as an example.
Obiously, the SP shouldn't require the MP to get the best ending (a la ME3 per-EC) but I see no issue with having your previous saves having an effect on your MP. Did you preserve the Anvil of the Void? You get Golems. Pick the Werewolves? You receive early access to said race.

I might be in the minority here, but I love that multiplayer is being added to DA just like how I was all for MP being added to ME. And before any assumptions are made, no I am not a 6 year old COD, MOH, or Battlefield fanboy that came here because of the multiplayer. I am a veteran RPG gamer and while a proponent of MP I detest MMOs (ironic I know) and hate the fact that several beloved franchises were converted into MMOs; The Elder Scrolls Online, and The Old Republic I am looking at you.

At best, I hope it's decent enough to serve as a diversion for a while, at worst I expect it will be somehow interwoven in some annoying way into SP, the way it was with ME 3, pre-Extended Cut, forcing console users to play it and compelling PC users to find hacks to subvert it. I know, I know, different creative teams. Yes, but the same company. One would hope the Dragon Age team got the memo too.
