I think you guys should make dragon age origins a MMORPG because its a great game and people would love to play with there friends in a party on xbox live. you could make new quest and make it to where other people can kill other people live like in a areana. Kinda like W.O.W but it would be so much better.

No thanks; if anything, I'd want a Neverwinter Nights style Multiplayer system, but that's not going to happen soon, if at all.

Why is it that when something good releases that isn't an mmo, people suddenly think it would be an awesome mmo. Is it some unwritten law in forum talk that any good single player video game in a well thought-out world should be converted into an mmo?
It's become a bit agitating. Is it not enough that we have lost KOTOR to this feverish epidemic in the gaming industry? Mmos cannot play favorites, nor put any one person in a position to have a pre-set and unique advantage over another and be successful. Only single player games can provide us with what Dragon Age does (as just an example): You are the hero and you alone shape the world in which you live through your actions.
If Bioware makes Dragon Age an mmo, I will burn all my gaming hardware and bury it while listening to "My Heart Will Go On".
Thank you.

they could do a mmo with the Dragon Age IP and it would not affect the single player game at all. But I really doubt anything like that will happen within a time frame conceivable by the people asking for it every week.
When work is finished on swtor they might move some people to other projects they have in the concept stage. It would still be several years before anything else came out.

Not everything has to be an MMO, and not everything that is successful as a single player is good as an MMO. There are loads of MMO's out there, there is no need to turn yet another great SP series like DA into one, let Bioware keep their focus on producing great SP stories and experiences rather then being diverted into MMO's. Since there is no such thing as infinite resources, DA going MMO will very likely mean the end of DA as a SP series, just as, as the poster above pointed out, happened to KOTOR

They COULD make an MMO of Dragon Age.
They could also use a puppy instead of a football in the NFL.

Warhammer has an associated mmo but I don't think that it impacts the rest of the Games Workshop-created stuff. I am guessing that many of the people that played Warhammer pre-mmo continue to play the non-mmo offerings.
BW has produced a pen-and-paper Dragon Age game. I don't plan on playing it but its existance doesn't somehow ruin the rpg for me.

HELL FRAKING NO!
All MMos suck. Dragon Age is a story driven CRPG. STORY FRAKING DRIVEN! Don't you get it? There has yet been an MMO that hasn't sucked because the very nature of the MMO sucks.
Asheron's Call... SUCKED!
Ultima Online... SUCKED!
AION... SUCKED!
LotRO... SUCKED!
DnDO... SUCKED!
WoW... SUCKED!
and so forth and so on...
Whjy the hell would you want to take something that doesn't suck and make it suck?

I say no to the MMO idea as well, but I would like some option to get multiplayer mode, would love to play with a friend etc.

There is potential for a Dragon Age MMO on the looooong term, but just not yet. And certainly not based on the game mechanics of Dragon Age: Origins. A lot of the world and lore needs more fleshing out in single player games, and maybe some multiplayer games as well (multiplayer doesn't have to mean it has to be an MMO). There is currently a huge shortage of good multiplayer games, something allowing for simple 1v1 action, or simple cooperative play. If there are more Dragon Age games planned, then those non-MMO multiplayer games are probably first in line, to create a more solid fan basis for an MMO, and to get some ballancing issues going. Multiplayer games are as different from an MMO as they are from a single player game, actually right between the two.
Rushing this new world into an MMO would simply be wrong in every aspect. So i hope, and also assume that an MMO may be on the wishlist at BW, but is not actually planned yet, and that even the scetches of what it would be or involve don't exist yet.

Multiplayer is not going to happen with Dragon Age Origins.
There may be other games set in the Dragon Age setting in the future, and they may have a multiplayer component, but that will be a completely different game.

Im glad Bioware doesnt plan to turn DAO in an MMO. I just tried my first (and last) MMO and it sucked so much.... Honestly, MMOs are crap. Turning DAO into one would just ruin a great game.

DA:O an MMO?
It's surprising no other threads have mentioned this before (sarcasm (just incase))
I could never get into MMO's but maybe it's an age thing. Each to their own.

You have to understand the kind of work involved in such a task. First, the game would need to be completely rebalanced if it were to be a true mmo. Multiplayer, not so much, but mmo ..yes. You would also have to redo the entire loot table from the ground up and add new textures and items ...lots of them. Then you would have to introduce a pvp and raid system and a loot system.
To make this game into an mmo would take a HUGE amount of work, resources, staff, and time. Honestly, its just not worth stripping down an amazing single player game just to make it an mmo. Like I said, multiplayer not so much, but even that would take alot of work.
Basically, think about what a successful mmo is. Of course, lets take WoW for instance. Look at the sheer size of WoW compared to DA. Now look at all the features it has compared to DA. Even if it were done, it would take years of dev time and still not be half as successful as WoW.
Like the above post said, check out SWTOR. Sure, its not set in the DA time, but its going to be a hell of an mmo from Bioware/Mythic/EA (best of all 3 worlds). Just think about that for a moment. You have Bioware's excellent RPG reputation mixed with Mythic's mmo experience and EA's ability to market a product and throw tons and tons of money at it. WoW should be scared? Indeed but only about SWTOR.

I don't think it would be sutch a great idea!!! I like DA:O as it is.... The problem about mmo's is that all the big choices they put in efort in this world don't do an impackt on a MMO world... The feelings and the roleplaying essence would be gone... :S I don't want that to happen In ANY future Dragon Age games!!

Some MMOs are okay, if they have actual plots and world-building behind them, or at least more to do than just go smack monsters with a sword, but for the most part they can't hold my attention. There's too much level-grinding and not enough "on with the story already."
I really hope that DA does not ever become an MMO, or at least that if it does, they keep the world lore and story somehow. I mean what can they do? Make us all Grey Wardens from Orlais fighting the Sixth Blight? Remember that those of us who like mages would pretty much be out of the story, since each Grey Warden sect apparently just has one mage (as I understood from reading codex entries and talking to NPCs). Of course you'd also lose the aspect of mages being looked down upon and elves would suddenly be the equal of everybody else, because few people want to play a racist jerk. And you can pretty much eliminate any roleplaying aspect, too, because everyone's just going to connect to go kill stuff for a couple hours with their friends, and won't worry about the story behind it.
No, if there's a multiplayer aspect to Dragon Age, I'd prefer it to be the ability to invite a handful of your friends along on a campaign, not to immerse yourself with a bunch of strangers who aren't there to actually play in that world. But that's just my two cents.
