I think you guys should make dragon age origins a MMORPG because its a great game and people would love to play with there friends in a party on xbox live. you could make new quest and make it to where other people can kill other people live like in a areana. Kinda like W.O.W but it would be so much better.

You are out of your mind.
Anyways, n-o to mmo.(that sounds catchy.)

Multiplayer is not going to happen with Dragon Age Origins.

There may be other games set in the Dragon Age setting in the future, and they may have a multiplayer component, but that will be a completely different game.

Maybe an MMO is not the right idea. However, the more I played this game I kept thinking how fun it would be to take my "group" and run an instance. Or maybe team up with 4 people and run a bigger group instance. To me a drawback of a MMO is a lot of content sets idle but if they allowed for a DAO styled group to run it at least it would be played by a person in single player mode with help. I think that is why I like this game so much as it is challenging and draws on grp make up and play. The challenge for this game is new content and being able to progress. If it ends with say Morrigan running off so to speak and we need to wait until DAO 2 comes then so be it.

Im glad Bioware doesnt plan to turn DAO in an MMO. I just tried my first (and last) MMO and it sucked so much.... Honestly, MMOs are crap. Turning DAO into one would just ruin a great game.

Dare I ask which one?

It seems you dare, so I´ll just answer you (though it´s a rather intimate question^^).
It was a free MMORPG called "Perfect World". Not that it does matter, though. Afaik all MMORPGs have the same story - none at all. They do also have the same ****ty graphics. The only difference is the amount of money you have to pay.

It's not intimate if it's an MMO
Then again I could also just be completely oblivious.

For the record I tried PW once, and I agree with your assesment of MMOs in general.

In my opinion.. The last thing needed in todays world of gaming is another mmo.

I absolutely hate that swtor turned to be a mmo (I wanted a kotor3). MMO's is a company "killer" if you ask me, how long did it take Blizzard to get something not "WOW" out there. Alltough im sure it made them rich aswell on the cost of their creativity.

Second I think mmo's are morally bad, I've seen more than 36274673256 cases where people lost all form of social life afterwards. Turning into fat kids with acne problems and a torn DnD t-shirt, refusing to go out clubbing/*insert thing to do* or whatever on a saturday because they need to play warcraft...

Well,well to each his own.

They're already working on a Star Wars MMORPG. There's no way they could support both of them at once, and Star Wars is far more profitable than Dragon Age.

The idea that World of Warcraft is Blizzard ‘selling out’ is funny.

Please no. I love DA the way it is.

I was pissed like hell at Blizzard for making an MMO and not an RTS I came to love and and enjoy. (Though appearently millions of people would disagree with me)

A DA MMO? Imagine the overload on the PC from having dozens of people running around with such a high end game like this. My PC would burn down.

Read again. Where do you see the word "sell out"?

The point was that after "WOW" Blizzard didn't release anything else for years. A company that released one game a year since the early 90's, haven't done anything else than WOW for almost six years. Nothing to do about "selling out". But It does make me question if huge MMO projects cripples the developer, as projects like that takes all their time and resources-

Oh god, no please. Don't do it. Why, oh why would anyone want such a game ruined in such a way?

Dragon Age, which is an excellent single-player RPG, has virtually nothing to offer the MMO genre. Does it imploy a new style of combat for MMO's? No in fact in an MMO you wouldn't be controling a party, you wouldn't be able to pause the game a whim to place a fireball, etc. You wouldn't be able to make unilateral choices like letting the town of redcliff fall. Of all the things in dragon age, i felt the story was probably the weakest part of the games. We already have good MMO storylines (lord of the rings, WOW), i don't see the storyline here being particularly compellng. Form playing DA nothing in the game jumps out at me saying we need a MMO that does this....

I want to see what they do with KOTOR first. >_< I really really want to believe that they can pull that off. If they do, and after they devote at least a good 3-5 years to that game once it goes live I might -consider- allowing them to make DA an MMO... though honestly the market for fantasy MMOs is pretty saturated at the moment, so even then ME might be a better bet.

Every time someone makes this suggestion I get all stabby. We DO NOT NEED yet another MMO! There are already plenty of them out there and they are all basically the same; to call the market saturated is an understatement. What we need is more great single-player RPGs like DA:O.

Dragon's Age:  'Join us brothers and sisters. Join us in the shadows where we stand
vigilant. Join us as we carry the duty that can not be forsworn. And
should you perish, know that your sacrifice will not be forgotten. And
that one day we shall join you."

MMO: "LOL NOOB!!!!111"

Not everything needs to be an MMO

exactly!

To many Fantasy based MMOs out there.

SWTOR seems to fill a certain void but id prefer a more adult/mature (with better graphics and higher system demands) storyline/enviroment Sci Fi MMO.
SWTOR forums just depressing and well really shows the age group your in for with that game.
On the plus side you can play SWTOR like a single player game (which is what Im going to do) to avoid all those kids.

Most of the people here have a mis-conception of what an MMO is. It has become a swear word more or less.

Despite my numerous posts to try to make people understand that they don't all need to be bad and alike.

Try to understand this:

- We are still playing Neverwinter Nights 1 here. Because that is the only good multiplayer RPG around. It shouldn't have to be like that.
