Yea,there is no point doing prequels in a mass effect game if you know what the end result is.
And after all mass effect games have choices,so it would basically be taking away the RPG experience.
And if they're going to do a sequel, then that can't happen with the endings we have because they have to account for alot of things like everybody being green.
So if there is going to be a sequel(let's face it,if the next game is a prequel it's taking away the mass effect experience)
Then there MUST be one definite ending.

"Mass Effect games have choices... There must be one definite ending."

So you want choices in games, which means there can't be prequels (this doesn't make sense), but those choices shouldn't be taken into account?

So you want choices that don't matter, and you don't replay games or want content to expand the history of the ME universe?

Another ME game, DA:III, MP/SP DLC?

Shut up and take all of my currency

Thinking like this is what got us into the ME3/DAII mess in the first place

The new IP bit sounds interesting. Clearly going to be another high-end RPG using next-gen technology.

As for an ME4, don't count on anything other than a spinoff, possibly set a few centuries into the future in the game's timeline.

Yeah, hmm... I don't know how I feel about this. Jumping from SW franchise to Mass Effect was already a bit of cultural shock for me. Don't know if I can trust a studio that creates a franchise only to abandon it after "a good run"

Why do you feel this way?

I feel the exact opposite. New IPs are exciting, whereas milking a franchise to death is boring and saddening if you really liked that franchise to begin with, as the quality continues to decrease.

A... a full mass effect game and not a half of one like before?

Wowzers.

On topic, it better be a good ****ing game, and I'm glad to see more DLC on the way.

It doesn't sound like a sequel, but a prequel would be very week.

Meh, I doubt I'll be buying. I don't like the ME team's "art".

No,i'm saying that if there is a sequel in the future then there is literaly to much to account for.
In one ending the reapers are destroyed,in another there is a catashep and in the synthesis option the reapers are living with all the races and everybody is green.
I don't see how there could be a sequel in mass effect if we are stuck with the endings we have.
And for prequels, whats the point, all the information about every event in the past is in the codex,
So I just don't see the point.
But bioware insist's that there might be more games in the future.

If Cycles Continuing applies to Bioware's DLC development as well, then I am SUPER STOKED for Omega.

A.K.A., if Leviathan was ME3's Overlord, than Omega must be ME3's Lair of the Shadow Broker! HUZZAAAAAAHHHHHHhhhhhhHhHh

I imagine we'll see a multiplayer DLC released sometime before Omega, which will also contain files and code used for the Omega campaign itself.

I better start clearing space on my Xbox hard drive!

Omega! Yes!

Also looks like we'll get at least one more SP mission after Omega.

Would it not be fun to play in the Prothean era? You could pick a "servant race" and experience Prothean culture firsthand. Explore the galaxy. Make big choices that affect the game that you're in in big ways.

And then it could end with the Reapers invading, to tie it up with the trilogy.

There are lots of ways to have a sequel without having a canon ending. You just have to get creative.

I disagree that the quality of the franchise necessarily decreases as the time goes on. Ofcourse, new IP's are exciting, but not if the cost is abandoning the existing franchise.

Well, can't say I didn't see any of the announcements coming, but having seen this thread certainly explains all the speculation threads. I was confused for a minute.

If my favorite comm specialist does not have dialogue/Zaeed-esque exchanges, Omega will be the last DLC i buy for ME3.

Yeah, that was an overgeneralisation from me. There are plenty of franchises that are still doing well to this day, that have been around for decades.

I guess it's purely personal preference. As an example, I was stoked for Uncharted 3, and enjoyed it. But I'm really intrigued for "The Last of Us", which is ND's new IP. I just like exploring new characters.

Then again, I'm a big fan of the Assassin's Creed franchise so I admit I'm being a tad hyprocritical.

New Mass Effect game doesn't mean ME4.

I hope it does start its own new trilogy of characters and choices. That is what I want, and what we all need.

I also bet that we end up getting two more single player DLCs for ME3. Omega and something else.

I suppose, and I just saw that chris confirmed that there will be another mass effect game but he did not say if it was a sequel or prequel.

If they're going to be Leviathan-length (~4 hours), then I'd say two DLCs.

So the only two guys keeping EA from completely absorbing Bioware into it's deep dark folds of fat are retiring?

Fleeing a sinking ship, it seems...

That Omega was coming this fall was given. I expect it to come late October, at least not earlier and maybe 1 week into November at most
