If the hidden purpose of all of the SP story DLC put together is to provide Shep with the resources to achieve a conventional victory - and really, there's no point in any SP DLC otherwise

Besides being fun to play, you mean?

I agree it's fun to play again. Until you get to the ending. Seriously, I don't know how people can get immersed and NOT find that last 10-15 minutes totally emotionally draining. That's why I stop at the refuse speech.

do agree , i mean if dlc does not affect the ending there would be no real point, and these war assets we keep gettin ghave to do something right, considering they fixed the ems needed for best ending

hope omega explains ( unsure how) the human reaper though, considering levi said that all reapers were made in their image

but when i get to the end i do feel sad i guess, not the end i wanted or no "good" ending

Well, the good news is that there will be more DLC.

The bad news are that they are thinkiing of actually more games in the universe. An inquel (similar to DA2) is the only way to go really, ending it before Shepard makes his choice. A prequel will be a downer because of the endings, and a non-retconned sequel from ME3 is not really feasible, especially since ME3 doesn't save any variables after the end.

Surely an inquel has the same issue as a prequel regarding the ending?
Yes I suppose the inquel could follow a completely different story arc and have an ending unrelated to the ME trilogy as we know it, but in the end you still know that Starchild gets his way with Shep afterwards and ruins the galaxy.

TBH I wasnt that excited about Omega as a DLC, but Lev was good so I'll get this one too. I expect far more combat instead of story and atmosphere in this one though.

Aaryn also confirmed we are making a new IP

This is what I'm excited about though! (although it's probably a loooong way off)

A sequel would be fine. Destroy as canon and far in the future - after the civilizations are in full swing again. No brat and its boys. The leviathans died from a human flu. A new start. A space opera. Exploration. And foes one can beat. :P A little more RPG that requires a brain would be cool as well. ;)

Here's another vote for a SINGLE-PLAYER (with multiplayer of as well of course) RTS game based on Mass Effect. Make a partnership with Petroglyph (former westwood guys) and tell em to do it westwood style.....too much to wish for im afraid :(

A new Mass Effect game, eh? I'm cool with that, just so long as it's not an FPS. A space battle game would be a win for me, something I've mentioned before; I feel we weren't as familiar with the amazing design put into the ships, except for Normandy and the Reapers, as we should have been.

And you know I'm looking forward to the Omega DLC :D

Find myself very ambivalent to a new mass effect game. Fear it will be a pure FPS game in which case i have no interest. A hybrid rpg/shooter with player characterisation of protaganist along the lines of ME2 would probably get me onboard as long as the story premise sounds reasonable

Excited but worried about Omega because it could be awesome if it has ME2 characters, a properly chacterised petrovsky and player choice or it could just be a linear shoot mooks for Aria affair.

Considering the team thats gonna be workin on i can almost possitively say it will be the same as the other cinematic and storydriven and the key element to all the mass effect games the speech and dialog wheel wouldnt be a mass effect without it.

It will be interesting to see what 'Omega' brings to the table besides the obvious ( retaking Omega ), ME3 badly needs more hub worlds and better implemented side quests with more substance.

As much as I hate ME3 ( it almost completely killed my passion for gaming, its only now 6 months later that I am beginning to regain my passion for this medium thanks to Darksiders 2 and Tales of Graces F ) I am intrigued by the idea of another ME game being in development. Will it be a direct sequel ( to fix ME3's faults ), a distant sequel, a prequel, a new trilogy, a spin off ( RTS, FPS ). I am however also very weary of the idea of another ME game, I was and very disappointed in how ME3 turned out and there is no evidence to suggest that the ME creative team acknowledges ME3's faults and that they want to do better next time around, with Ray and Greg gone from Bioware I have no reason to expect another ME game to be any better than a crappy GOW clone.

So we should have new DLC sometime around mid-December? Still Autumn...

December is winter month. And i hope they release atleast the next SP DLC before 25 of October, because after that all time i spent playing will go to MoH Warfighter and Black Ops 2

Interesting info, and a lot to take in. I find myself wondering weather this new IP will be in the RPG genre or if Bioware's just going to try something different this time around. Is it too early to say?

Actually it's mostly an autumn month. December 21 is the first day of winter.

Casey and our teams have plans for another full game. “Where to go next?” with such a project has been a question a lot of us have been asking, and we’d all love to hear your ideas.

Hang on... which is it - do they have plans, or do they want our ideas?

They have plans, but they want to know what fans want to so they can add to those plans.

Nope; I said what I meant.

OK, but by that standard there's no point to BtdS, Overlord, LotSB, Kasumi, Warden's Keep, Return to Ostagar..... I'm not even sure Arrival counts, since either Shep goes there or someone else does.

Mileages vary. I find victory to be a positive experience. Yes, even if Shep dies -- if dying in the moment of final victory isn't OK with you, being a space marine wasn't the best career choice.

If you don't like the extended ending, Mass Effect is simply not the franchise for you.
It couldn't have gone any other way, without breaking the series' themes that were first established back on Virmire.

That said, (regardless of if the DLC is paving the way for a forth method of victory) your choice in ME3's ending should have a big impact - maybe entire different sidequest chains or powerups depending on the resolution of the Reaper War. (No canon for Refuse, though - you'd need an entirely different game with an entirely different set of species, plus randomising between Destroy, Control, and Synthesis for that cycle - plus, miserable failure should not be rewarded)

I got the original Mass Effect because it was a classic space opera with remarkably hard science and interesting, believable characters. Games 2 and 3 veered away from this and toward modern-day shooter games with highly sexualized women, men with improbable pecs, and a constant search for magically appearing "ammo".

What would get me to buy another Mass Effect game? A return to hard sci-fi, exploration, rpg and complex, interesting characters (where the humans are built like real people). I would happily endure Makos and elevators if it meant large environments and exotic, uncharted planets.
