Anders, Merril, Isabela not mentioning the Warden bugged me too. Especially Anders who served with the Warder during awakening.

Isabella mentions the Warden in one very peculiar set of circumstances, as I recall. Like, while Hawke is talking to Zev in DA2, IF the warden romanced Zev, and IF the warden and Zev had a threesome with Isabela, and IF Hawke brings Isabella to the meeting. (I don't remember if those are the exact details. It's something like that).

And I'm fairly certain Merithari mentions it briefly if the Warden was a Dalish, although I don't remember if Merril does or not.

I know that Isabela will casually mention "meeting" the warden in Denerim (when you first meet her in the Hanged Man), but only if your warden slept with her in the first game.

The thing about Merrill that got me mad is I specifically said that I was returning to my clan at the end of DA:O and I never returned. Makes my Warden feel like he is a complete jerk for not returning. I expected Merrill to mention my Warden's return.

I say just let the Warden be. My Warden has had his story. I wouldn't mind seeing a letter or something of the sort (like a memoir done for the Grey Wardens before his disappearance), but that's as far as I'd like it to go. No cameo necessary. I would also accept the Warden being the source of a running Chuck Norris-style joke genre.

The Warden died 10 years ago but death hasn't built up the courage to tell him/her yet.

The Warden cut's through a hot knife with butter.

The Warden doesn't have nightmares about the Archdemon, the Archdemon has nightmares about the Warden

Easy. Don't have a Warden cameo at all.

Otherwise, if they have some story related reason to be in the game (not just a passing cameo) then have them be a player controlled character for a short section(s).

If the Warden starts out as missing or vanished or the new player character looking for them, have a brief moment where maybe they ask somebody who the Warden was and then cut to a character creation screen where the player can remake or try to import their old Warden- remake their face, class, race and set any needed plot flags from Origins or Awakening.

If the Warden ends up being player controlled, then you don't have to worry about adding a voice actor, just have conversations while as the Warden take place in first person POV (no blank stares) with full text dialogue. Frostbite 2 should enable first person views pretty easily if they want, I'd think.

Let's just not have this be a "Tali's face reveal" issue again, and by that i don't mean "don't try" i mean, "don't try to please everyone" just make a decision, stick with it, and don't do a half-assed job that ends up pissing off almost everyone. As long as they put work into it i don't really care what they do.

exactly. As much as I wanted to see Tali's face, I would have been fine with not seeing it instead of what they did.

This could work but thhe question is will bioware devs be willing to put a charecter creator section in between the game. Seems like to much work for a brief cameo. Though this could resolve the issue of warden's import problem for all future games. As from then on BIOWARE can show all the protragonist without hassle.

I was also willing to have a generic voice for the male n female warden each. But i doubt a lot of people on BSN and the general fanbase may have a problem with that. I can see the complaints "no no no my warden dosent sonund like that" "bioware u ruined my warden " "my dragon age expreience is shattered" and all such melodrama <_<

I imagine my Warden sounding the same way her voice actress sounded. The Wardens HAD voice actors. They just didn't talk much (just during fights and interacting with doors/chests).

Yeah, it would be troublesome to hire everyone of them again and all, but it is still possible. I would very much like to see it.

People with mods will still complain. They say, "But MY Warden has pink hair and a heart tattoo on his left cheek! That's how I modded DAO! How dare they show the Warden without taking into account an infinite number of mods!"

No, the best solution is one of these:

1. Don't show the Warden or Hawke. Let them be mentioned, "epilogue" style, but don't physically show them.
2. Have canon endings, like the vast majority of RPGs do. Don't bother with imports at all.

Now, personally, I'd be fine if my Warden or Hawke showed up, even spouting some lines. Cool by me. I had fun playing the games, but I won't be butthurt if the Warden acts slightly differently from my imagined version. However, I don't speak for all fans. Many would disagree, and I respect that. Better to just leave the previous PCs out all together.

"Warden" could also be "Warden Commander", from DA:A.

Option 1> could also be a possible solution. I am personally trying to keep a open mind here about bioware to give a resolution for hawke n warden in a manner they seem fit and what you and some other posters have given as ideas mostly seem fair to me. Given how tough a task it will be to incorporate the warden in the first place

Option 2>i have to  say though "CANON endings" do you even comprehend the rage that will ensue on these forums if that happens. BSN will explde with that amount of nerd rage. Think of the ME3(ending fiasco) and multiply by 1000 times...thought in hindsight it will be quite the spectacle tough...

I agree that NOW it's probably too late to do canon endings. They've set a standard now, a pattern, and they have to stick to it. Still, if it had been that way since the beginning, no one would bat an eye.

VERY few sequels out there actually import decisions from one game to the next. Now, I admit, most games don't have as many possible endings as DA:O did, so you feel less invested in "your" ending. But still... if DA2 had made a straight-up canon assumption about DA:O (the way most Bioware games did prior to ME), a few people would have been butthurt, but it largely would have slipped by.

Probably. Maybe. I could be wrong.

I dont know maybe your right but i still think a canon ending would have been a absolute deal breaker for a lot people. Most of bioware fans love this continuation of decision from game to game provided they are not always well implemented by the devs and they are still there. Very few companies do it also and that what makes bioware special to them giving canon ending could have made DA2 more undesirable to fans.

I honest like the other options you and the other comenters put regarding Warden n Hawke cameo granted each will have their problems and bsn as always will moan and over it, but i doubt if DA3 is good and the cameo are a little bot sloopy anyone would be too much butt-hurt for too long ;)
