Say what you want about Mass Effect 3 and its ending, the fact that both Hudson and Walters lied straight to our faces up to one week before the release still stands and always will.
And I don't think either of these two have apologized for that up to now.
Also, I'd like to suggest screwoffreg to be excluded from this discussion. He'll just come up with some horrible things that shouldn't ever be in the game that'll give the folks at BioWare ideas again...

It's not like there's any threat left to fear in the Mass Effect universe - the Reapers went from this vast, timeless, unknowable, unstoppable force, to a child's playthings, in the space of 10 minutes. Nothing can recapture the essence of the Reapers in the same way that Sovereign did in Mass Effect - I don't even...ugh.

Sequel is the only way to go, although it will involve canonizing one ending, which I think we all know will be destroy. I can live with that IF it meant we could meet our old squad again, maybe as a new character leading them or cameo appearances.
Ideally I'd love a reunion of Shepard and the crew, even if we don't then pick up from there as Shepard. Both the leviathan dlc and destroy ending give hints towards a post me3 future.

1. Take the time to do it right.
2. Keep it 'realistic' please, keep it Sci-Fi and don't turn it into a fairy tale in space. So no super biotics, no 'space-magic' or anything like that.
3. I'd prefer a smaller scale. A story unfolding within the galactic community rather than said community being threatened with annihilation from the outside.
Oh yeah and no AI-kids this time pretty please....

- Story set aprox 25 years after ME3.
- No Fetch quests
- After Control and Synthesis endings Reapers began one by one regaining control and returning to their mission to harvest galaxy. Most of them were destroyed by others reapers (which also suffered causalities), but for this day not a single one reaper is still loyal to organics.
- Synthesis effect for organics lasted for about a year. It helped to get rid of multiple diseases (like Vorlik Syndrome) and to create few new technologies, but green eye effect faded, and again organics are organics, synthetics are synthetics. Also there is peace between Geth (if there are any geth felt) and organics no matter what else happened.
- Story is centered around single reaper task force composed of four capital ships and nine destroyers with few support units and about one hundred fighters, which killed or harvested all life forms from Ilium, and two other worlds. A multi-species fleet is dispatched to find and destroy them, but reapers are now using hit and run tactics which makes them again a formidable threat.
- Game protagonist is member of newly formed "Specter internal division" formed to hunt down rogue specters. Player is send after group of specters send to investigate Ilium disaster, which most likely were indoctrinated shortly after landing on Ilium. What's disturbing is the fact that according to intelligence reports they are lead by commander Sheppard.
- No Fetch quests.
- The game should introduce new up to 3 player co-op mode in campaign. Allowing to fight together in missions, split up in cities, asymmetric gameplay in some missions (ie. one player is dragging unconscious Krogan to a shuttle, second providing covering fire from upper floor and third is opening and closing doors from building control center while trying to stay alive or one player is driving seriously damaged mako and two others are walking and fighting with multiple enemies), argue about quest outcomes and generate unnecessary tension between paragon and renegade players, ending in fist fight on ruined Ilium. (or they can fight over Love Interest) This can be for example shown in competitive QTE sequence, ending in few broken bones and serious handicap for the loser for next mission.
- No Fetch quests
- Cameo appearance of living ME1-3 cast. Including Sheppard (partially disabled and indoctrinated) after all ME3 endings.
- Less locations than in ME3, but all of them should be significantly larger. No ME3 multiplayer size locations for single player.
- No Fetch quests.
- A single unique location depending on the ME3 ending.
- Visible differences in NPC and at least some locations depending on ME3 ending, making us feel that in ME3 we chose more than just a color.
- Possible customization of your ship, and real space battle.
- Running gag about "rainbow of possibilities" and "colors of galaxy"
- Did I mentioned that there shouldn't be any Fetch quests?

Lol, you listed a super game. They can barely keep up with one of your ideas. And Shepard can't live after Synthesis or Control. So to have a cameo of Shepard, you would have to pick Destroy.lord_hellfire wrote...

Use the 2 year laptime while shep is out being rebuilt.
A spin off with garrus as the main character.
The game would start from the moment he's out of the mass effect 1 team till Shepard recruit him in mass effect 2. We could be able to see the mourning of shep, the split up of the team and how garrus became archangel.
Would be glad to see all of that omega space station and wander in it to get contracts or to be the vigilante by myself. That game could become more action / infiltration oriented than true rpg, like hitman on omega. That's a concept I'd be glad to see.

I agree with this. Execpt I want it to be set during the events of Mass Effect 3. You start out as one of the races either on Their Home planet or a colony/space station/whatever when the invasion begins, then you make your way around the galaxy during the fight only to end up on earth for the final push. You will see your soldier begin as a recruit, or maybe just a civilian pushed into action by the reaper war, and eventually rise up the ranks to make a significant impact on the war and the final battle.
