heres my idea for ME4 or whateva you end up calling it

The opening scene starts out shortly after the end of ME3. If you had the control, synthesis or regular destroy ending then the opening scene is a huge memorial service for shepard.  If you had the destroy ending where shepard survives then the opening scene is a crew of alliance soldiers digging a body out of the wreckage of the citadel. though you never see its face it is presumably shepard.

then the game fast forwards about 10 to 15 year (that should be enough time for the galaxy to recover from the reapers).  you play as a new Alliance recruit.  I think this would be interesting because shepard if you remember from ME1 was already a well established soldier and part of the N7 program. you play as a new recruit who basically a nobody and have to earn the respect of fellow soldiers and aliens throughout the galaxy.  The main cast of charcters should be relatively new, but I can see some of the older characters from the first trilogy such as Liara, James, Garrus, Ashley/Kaiden and maybe Jacob an Miranda if they survived having some sort of supporting roles in the game.

just a thought what do you guys think?

I would be fine with something running along side the same time as Shepard's story. I mean the galaxy is a big place and I'm sure there was plenty of other interesting things going on.

I'd actually like to see a more in depth look into the terminus systems. They were always mentioned as being lawless and ruthless in the first game but really dissapointed in 2. So I think it'd be interesting to be more of an outlaw type group instead of soldiers, scientists, and general decent folk. Also be a nice way to get away from the council, alliance, and the major factions of Shepard's story and maybe have a closer look at the underworld and gangs.

Just would want to avoid any prequels unless it takes place way before any of the events established in this trilogy because we k is how they end. And sequels unless way ahead were the reaper war is just a memory. Simply because I think picking an ending or trying to include any characters from the trilogy would be too much of a cluster .

ME4: The Origin of the Shadow Broker

We get to play the first shadow broker, see how he/she establish the tremendous information network, how he/she build the mysterious base on Hagalaz, how he/she lay hands on every little dirty secret of the universe!

Sounds fun eh?

Mass effect 4, you play a Quarian and building up Rannoch and do polotics like becoming a council spicies and what i loved is how they and humans look like each other and then you can customize you're face and maybe new romances.

I would love mass effect 4 to be like this.

Guys, any Mass Effect game that doesn't let you play as a human will not be approved. We love these other races because we know them, but a new game will be trying to capture a new market as well. Humans are the easiest to identify with and understand for new entrants to the universe, and that's what this game will be. I hope ME TNG will allow playing as another race but I wouldn't count on a game built around a non-human protagonist.

I know they kind of ruled it out, but I would like an aftermath game. New protaganist. Maybe an Alliance official or Specter figuring out what happened. Kind of a "Search for Spock" vibe. Can have new characters but the ability to see some familiar faces.

Lots of room for organizations to creep in and fill the power vacuum right after the war.

Pretty much this. I can't see making a game like this with a non-human protagonist being anything other than a marketing nightmare.

Has Chris mentioned when we could expect to hear anything about ME4? Specifically, a tentative release date? (ie; "late 2015" or something fairly vague like that)

Not to my knowledge. I'd already have a countdown calender on my wall if he had.

And please no reboots. This is a very common move devs have been doing with games lately. It's ridiculous.

Like to see it 15 to 50 years after the final of ME3 with fresh untested solder. New villian or a ancient one that managed to survive the reapers all this time. Better character customization like with DA. (able to put scars & tattoo's on face / body. With LI's asking questions about them.) Chose between carrying Heavy Weapons into battle, like ME2, or just carrying standard load out.

No prequels, just bring back Shepard and Co and save yourselves the trouble of having to do it in the fifth game when ME4 fails to meet sales quotas.

ME4 with shepard and his crew would be sth beautiful.
but if BW really is so happy to end his story:
-no prequel
-character customisation
-more non combat elements - or at least make a true option of it; i understand that sales demands lot of shooting, fireworks - but there are some people who would really enjoy true rpg - not a fps with rpg elements
-lots of talking; the citadel was right step! i was truly happy about it (see? you can make sth pretty good!)
-ah... well... bring back shepard xD

Bringing back Shepard would be huge mistake IMO. Let him or her go. New characters bring new freedoms.

I hope you read my comment since there are many ideas that everyone has:

1) Casey Hudson it is imperative that you keep Shepard as the protagonist. Shepard is the embodiment of everyone of us. He / She is our alter-ego and deviating from Shepard will result in a game with a big gap. An Emptiness that will echo in Mass Effect 4 and make us miss how great the Trilogy was and leave a bad taste in our mouths. Shepard is and isn't all of us. Shepard is what makes this game so familiar and heart warming.

2) Please bring Drew back because I felt that his ideas contributed to a very strong emotional and captivating story that the Mass Effect universe was (specifically ME1 and ME2).

3) Mass Effect 2 while with a few flaws, had an incredible roller coaster ride of a story. We love to see the bad guys lose in the end and have everyone survive! The destruction of the Collectors was a satisfying cathartic feeling that made the ending unforgettable and incredible!

4) Harbinger had an important role in ME2. His character was absolutely hilarious with his over confident comments on the battlefield. It made him an unforgettable antagonist. His voice was particularly great. ME3 made the mistake of not having Harbinger play a significant role besides injuring Shepard.

I appreciated how you released the extended cut DLC for the ending of ME3. Also, the Leviathan DLC was fantastic but should have been part of the game from the beginning. Unfortunately, the damage has been done (in my opinion) and the overall ending of ME3 was a failure. There was no closure like there was in ME2 with the destruction of the Collector base.

Please understand that I am not criticizing the game out of anger or hate but I am simply giving you my honest opinion on the matter and hope that you bring back Shepard in Mass Effect 4. It would be the best thing your team would have ever done for us (the fans) ! Thank you Casey Hudson!

Please, no prequels.
I would like to see something set years and years after ME3 to where you wouldnt have to change the story too much based on the ending you picked. Story differences based on the endings would be ok, but less is better.
No old characters, all new.
You can pick your class and everything, but also your background like the race choice in DA:Origins.
For instance: A smuggler would start in jail and have to work for the citadel govt to escape prison, a mercenary would find himself in an impossible situation and become a pow and end up working for the govt the same as the smuggler, etc.
The villain is also very important. If i had to pick one i would choose a combination of TDK's Joker and Dominic Green from Quantum of Solace. A terrorist who hides behind politics and can be a real antagonist for you character, not some unstoppable god like the reapers.
I would prefer the action to be akin to a melding of james bond and star trek. Spy intrigue mixed with the whole galactic journey thing.
More vehicles, mako or not, i dont care. The mass effect trilogy was severley lacking in car chases. LOTSB had a pretty decent one, but more would have been nice imo.
Maybe even space combat.
Lastly, more exploration and the rpg elements of ME1 are absolutely necessary.

1-) I prefer playing as human. if you must do some historic story use some time machine or space warp things.
2-) Story can be parallel to shepard's story at same time. But this probably can't compate with shepard's story. But maybe you can use some "Back to the future 2" style. we can see shepard while we do own mission but this can be hard for you. That would be very cool.
2-) As you suggest at last vid in the game(old man and child). Some time passed after Shepard, much time. So maybe 100-1000 years later. New hero can be rise. New hero can be fan of Shepard. we can see some old links to original story(Shepard's picture or statues). that kind of things are very cool. and you can forget these things sometimes.(for exaple: in dragon age alister king-mage warden ending was buggy. even it is not in real effect, hearing about your effort about freeing circle was good. that is the thing it must be in RPG).

The one thing that I would be happy to have is a kind of mercenary base type thing that gets bigger/more popular as the story progresses.

If the story can't compete with Shepards, its the wrong choice of story. The thing with pictures/statues/flashbacks of Shepard is that if you didn't use default Shep you need to do an import (otherwise its not your Shep, which defeats the whole point of including them) and once you start importing end game saves - which I'm not even sure exist after ME3 - you open up player expecation about other choices they made from the Shep trilogy. All of a sudden, Game one, scene one, Bioware has all these narrative variables they have to accomodate before they even start telling a new story.

Bioware needs a fresh start with no Legacy to adhere to in order to create a new narrative arc, otherwise they already have restrictions on the story they can tell rather than a clean canvas on which to paint.

Shepards story is over. Lament the end but look to the future.

ME4

You play as an indoctrinated player character during reaper wars. Near the end you break your indoctrination and the indoctrination on your squad (if they are loyal you are succesfull). After that you do everything to help fight the reapers. At the end of the game, if player imported save from ME3 you help Shepard get out of the rubble...or maybe you help him break the indoctrination, and then you go up to the citadel with him to save the day.

Would be awesome to fight under The Shepard.

There are a lot of storys I would like to play, but there is that group Jacob Taylor belonged to. He was a Crosair, so why not make the new Protagonist the Captain of a Ship, who works for the Alliance, different Council races, maybe even the Shadow Broker or what is left of Cerberus.

Maybe he has to make a choice later in the game, about choosing a faction. It would give the player a high replay value, to explore different paths.
And then I would like to bring back like charisma/intimidation and make hacking more important. Like locked chests and extra stuff, if you have a good thief in the party.
To bring back more of the RPG elements. The combat system is a lot of fun, but the next game shouldn't be about a war and be a little less action filled. Maybe a Story along the lines of the Imperial Agent, with some interesting twists and turns and a little more lighthearted.

And please make it a small group of squadmates, but with deeper relationships and more interaction.

A game where you can choose your profession, like trader/smuggler, soldier, mercenary, explorer as well as the race of your character.

It takes place a couple of hundred years after the trilogy.

Nothing grand like saving the galaxy, but rather interacting with and being a part of that galaxy.

Some references to Shepard's actions (it'd just be retarded if it plays out in the same universe and the people just forgets about the guy who saved the galaxy and ended a cycle of destruction that had gone on for billions of years) here and there. Maybe use some information from people's saves that can be uploaded to this site, then used in the game as it connects to the servers. Maybe even some references to his backgrounds and love interests. You know people like that stuff.

I don't want Shepard to just be forgotten. I want at a memorial dedicated to him and his squad on various planets that they helped take back from the Reapers.

Don't erase all the old races to build up new ones.

It's so pointless to create a universe like the one during the trilogy only to pretend like nothing of that happened.

Canonizing the most chosen ending could be rather easy too.

Anyway.

More space exploration if your character supports it, that is, if you pick one that favors exploration.

Depending on your profession, you can meet various races. Trading allows you to meet up with more of the civilized races, like asari, salarian, quarian and so on. Or you can be a smuggler, trying to avoid the law, defending your ship against pirates and such.

Being a soldier in a military doesn't grant you much traveling, but combat encounters are more likely to happen. You'll meet up with krogan, vorcha, turian, human and other races that favor battle above most things.

Being a mercenary is the middle ground between soldier and trader. You get to travel around quite often and do battles as clients requests it. The downside is that not all missions will be available to you as some clients may prefer someone who can be more diplomatic or technical like a trader or someone who doesn't operate outside the law and has more combat experience like a soldier.

Explorer/ambassador focuses mostly on space travel, where you can possibly meet new races or factions to introduce to your galactic society, but your are also likely to meet hostiles you have to defend yourself against as you travel through uncharted sections of the galaxy.

As for the plot...I don't know. I favor character interaction above most things, because that's one thing I know with certainty that BioWare is very good at.

Just as long as it's not any prequel crap. Dwelling in the past does nothing good.

Nuts.  I'd love some idea when to expect it, even if delays are inevitable.

I think a countdown clock/calander would be a little torturous at this point though.  ;)

Bare with me since this is the first time I am posting on this site, been a gamer since I was a kid started out on my old Atari 2600 and had one or more systems per generation since then (currently play on my XBOX). In my 40’s now and still enjoy playing and competing when I have time. The ME series is my favorite series out of all the games I have played throughout the years.

Future ME game suggestions

1. Timeframe: can be before or after the original trilogy ( I have no preference but Love the ME universe)

2. Needs to have interesting and wide variety of characters similar to ME2 (good mix of races)

3. More RPG elements added to the game, liked the additions to ME3 but would like even more customization (armor, guns, mods, powers, more options in leveling powers)

4. Additional loot would be nice

5. I love the single player experience but would like the option to play co-op in the campaign with 2-4 people, like the competitive and team work type of multiplayer as well.

6. Possibly add some space combat (ship battles), doesn’t have to be much but some to break up just the ground combat.

7. Add some planet exploration like with the original ME game with the Mako, I know it was frustrating at times but with some refinement it could be a great addition. The main thing that was a pain in the original was the dam thresher maws popping up underneath the mako.

8. More space exploration, I’m not asking for an open world but a little more freedom would be nice.

9. Also almost forgot good side questing, as I said I enjoyed and still enjoy ME3 but the side quests were odd and were not interesting at all. More involvement other than overhearing something and fetch it.

That’s all I have for now, keep making great games in this universe.

Jay
