my thoughts on the what to do next- take the game into the future, i want to see the new life without the reapers, i want to see this synthetic/organic life, i want to see this device Liara made for the future that has Shepard's history and name in the stars, the history should be available in libraries. i'm not talking about adding to the trilogy, this new game would be a whole other conflict and life, a character you create(new pre last of first name) new goals, new wars, it doesn't even have to be in the same galaxy, show how the races expanded past their own galaxy. prothy the prothean probably had kids with someone, show a new race started by him, a mixed breed. it wouldn't be called mass effect anymore, but it would still be a part of that universe that mass effect took place, all new characters except for those races that live for thousands of years. same gameplay styles, maybe make an mmorpg and another new title that has a singleplayer mode and multiplayer mode(multi player mode would have some multiplayer specific missions) have some kind of loby for people to relax and talk, free roam is important and open world planets and ships. this game has to much potential to just let fade away with so much that wasn't done yet. way more character customization options, more clothes to choose from, everything you do having a noticeable effect on the game.

Set around the time of the Skyllian Blitz, you become an ex police officer who has been disgraced and bribed into working for the shadow broker as an agent to find information, protect your family, discover who disgraced you and bring them to justice whilst trying to prevent a conflict (the Blitz). You have to balance you decisions with what the SB wishes or faces consequences towards the end game where the Blitz takes centre stage.

Bad example: Miranda dies in ME3 because I break up with her? Cortez dies because I wasn't there for him as a friend? Makes no sense.

There needs to be LOTS of dialogue choices, and NO auto-dialogue. Even if 2 dialogue choices lead to the same scentance being said, the context and connotations are different for the player. The way this and the neutral option have been thrown away is criminal. Autodialogue sucks balls. When I downloaded Kasumi and Zaied first I thought you just couldn't talk to them because they were only add-ons, I'd no idea they were the vanguard of mediocrity. The worst bit though is when Shep cheerfully pipes up with some bull**** you didn't want him or her to say. If you care about the game at all this will drive you mental. ME3 was the first Bioware game EVER where I skipped cutscenes. TL/DR: Taking away player autonomy in an RPG is wear-a-helmet-indoors RETARDED.
Exploration needs to come back in a big way. There needs to be a bunch of stuff that is HARD TO FIND. Yes, I know not everyone will see it, but that's the sort of stuff that makes games like this special. Leave pretty corridors to COD.
I'd like to see the paragon/renegade thing streamlined. I liked the idea of paragon/renegade points going into a joint 'reputation' meter to reward more balanced play. I know that was the idea for ME3 but there was still pressure to play all-renegade or all-paragon. Makes sense with no neutral option I guess but whatever. Boo.
Also, there are some things I'm deliberately not mentioning as they've been said over and over and over and I guess your eyes glaze over when you hear them now. You know what they are. Don't do that.

Make us a Corsair. Loose ties with the Alliance, with a ship much less impressive than the Normandy. Focus on the more shady places of the galaxy. Noveria, Omega, Korlus, the Nemean Abyss (which is more sketchy than the Terminus). Also a good excuse to visit the Kite's Nest since we aren't technically under Alliance flags. Give us more political and corporate intrigue. There are plenty of cutthroat organizations in the galaxy. Place the plot parallel to ME1 or the two years when Shep is dead. A more personal and intriguing plot, but much more lighthearted? A more 'Han Solo-ish experience, starting off just trying to make your way in the galaxy and getting swept into the thick of things.

I kind of agree with what you're saying, I'd hate to see our new ME character outdo Shepard. I'd like to see something lesser in magnitude, a more personable story rather than to see the whole galaxy at stake.

Im just spitballing with these details here. The idea is some sort of set up at the start of the new series like ps3 players got for me3 since save imports wont be an option with a new trilogy.
What's most important to me is the time it takes place in though. Pretty pretty please Bioware?!?! Oh, and pleeeassee go back to a true rpg style like me1 was, I love the genre and there just aren't enough good sci-fi rpgs out there. The immersion they create is what makes it so entertaining!

Please give the option to be another race. I want to be a Krogan, Turian, or Asari. That would totally be hands down on my part.
Yes playing more spicies i would really want to play a Quarian.

Yeah playing as another race would be awsome, it would also give the game replayability

This has actually been in my head since ME1, but for ME next I think it would be sweet if we could bring one more party member with us and be able to control all the other party members just like KOTOR and DA.

If EA-Origin and Bioware can also put a stop to all the cross-ID linking shenanigans with PSN ID -XBox ID, that would also be reason enough for me to plunker down my money regardless of whether the new ME is a prequel, a new version all together, or a 'sequel' to this series.
As far as a plot suggestion:
May be have ME 4 be about the offspring of the characters of ME 1-3 who had a relationship going with a squadmate ( e.g Liara, Jack, Miranda, Tali with Shepard and whoever else had a relationship going through out the three stories), and how the final decision taken by Shepard affected them (the offspring) as well as how the history of the Galaxy as as whole got re-written.

* Needs to be like the original ME or better still a mix of the best of both ME1 and ME2. ME1 is simply epic.. no other word to describe it and ME2 is not far behind.
* As others have mentioned being able to play as another race
* Truly open world or universe. Being able to land on a planet and roam around and explore, carry out missions aka ME1 and the Mako and not be restricted to a small section of the map or city that you've landed on, or scanning from orbit (that really was just crap) and then have the ability to go back to the planet/city as many times as you want and carry on exploring (within reason). In ME2 you should have had the choice of being able to go back to and land on Feros, Noveria and for the citadel it should have been full access as in ME1 including the tower.
* Levelling system - Weapons/skills/Armour/character development more like ME1 so you can actually make your character develop the way you want to - ME2 kind of dumbed that aspect of the original game down and that went even further in ME3. Being able to work out what armour/weapon/skills upgrades and in detail as you progress along in the game and using it tactically as in ME was spot on.
* More Interaction with other Non player characters (NPC) where ever you go - ME1 had this, not as much as I'd like but its definitely more than in ME2 or ME3. Having played ME3 first, then ME2 and finally a few months ago, ME1 had this aspect spot on, with ME2 not far behind. Me3 on the other hand was terrible.
* Hardcore/Insanity enemies at warp speed fighting - I really hated the speed at which "opposing forces" in ME3 move when playing at hardcore/insanity. Its terrible watching units running and taking cover as if theyre high on speed, it seriously ruins the gameplay. Make the AI more intelligent and harder to defeat - give the units your facing better weapons, armour, shields, tactics etc instead of letting them run around like a bunch of loons at warp speed.
* Ability to play with or without Origin - as a PC user I'd like the option of being able to play the game without having to be online or using Origin as the launcher for the game.
* Mini games - more of them and with a bit more variety please. ME1 and ME2 were good with the mini hacking games where as ME3 just reduced that to lets wave the Omnitool.
* Organic/Dynamically generated events- Less scripted events and more dynamically generated please. ME3 was simply way too scripted.
* Major plot/story lines aka Arrival/Leviathan should be part of the game at launch and not DLC. Both Arrival and the Leviathan should have been part of ME2 and ME3 at release as they fill in some crucial aspects to the plot/story.
* DLC content - Make them of the quality and polish of"Lair of the Shadow Broker" and not like Arrival for ME2. Arrival was a missed opportunity, it should have been a great add on to the story and leadup to ME3 but it was and is terrible - they way it kicks in after you complete Horizon, that its a solo mission and the list of whats wrong with it goes on. I've only just skimmed playing the Leviathan to see whether it was any good but so far haven't been impressed due to the way its soo scripted and linear.
*Squad mates from DLC should still have the same level of interaction with your lead character - I was pretty miffed at not being able to chat with Kasumi or Zaheed after their missions were complete in ME2.
* E-mails - being able to reply to emails sent to your terminal would have been cool, esp in ME2 even if those replies were limited to several choices and being able to action those such as meeting up with someone that you have saved after they have got in touch. eg. in ME2 Shep gets an email from someone that shes saved in ME1, stating that she would like to meet Garrus and her when next on the Citadel.
* Dumbing down the game - Don;t dumb the gameplay down as we don't need pointers as in ME3 to tell me which way I need to go from one section of the map/level to the next.. It wasn't need in ME1 or ME2 and gameplay was just fine.
* Other - (1) holstering your weapon - you could do that in ME1/ME2 but not in ME3 ??? and (2) being able to crouch as in ME1
Ok.. enough of my ramblings
