If Garrus is the main character then less than half of your fanbase will not buy it. We don't want to play that game.

Love you BioWare people! Thank you for even asking for our opinions!

What I’d like to see
• Shepard lives.
• The war has just begun for him/her.
• A new enemy that is harder than the Reapers.
• That Shepard can lead the Reapers into the new war.
• Shepard is more advanced in his/her abilities.
• The Illusive man comes back. (Seriously, he brought back Shepard but he doesn’t have a failsafe to bring himself back? Give me a break. I’m expecting him to return. Besides I think he would make a great long-term nemesis for Shepard).
• The catalyst was a test to see what choice Shepard would make.
• A male bodied asari.

I’ve created all these things and more in my script. They are on my blog here on BioWare, my DA page, and on my fan fiction page.

Here is how I’d structure the beginning of ME4.

Fighting the Reapers was just a test. Shepard now faces the real war beyond our universe…

• After Shepard’s choice is made he/she does not die, but finds himself/herself on a technologically advanced ship and is in the presence of a personage that looks like Liara (or Shepards love interest).
• Shepard is told that he/she passed the test and that the Reapers are just a shadow of what lies beyond… the real war for Shepard has just begun.
• The Reapers were preparing our universe to become strong enough to fight in the war beyond our universe. The catalyst was just part of the test to see what choice Shepard would make.
• Shepard is told that at the right time they will come for her and is transported back onto the Normandy.
• Admiral Hackett informs Shepard of reports of an advanced ship on the edge of deep space and after seeing the images of the ship Shepard knows it’s the one she was on.
• Shepard discovers she has advanced biotic/tech/combat (based on last save) abilities after Alliance testing. Admiral Hackett sends her to investigate the advanced ship and on her way there stop any remaining Cerberus groups.
• After leaving Earth Shepard is confronted by the personage that resembles Liara (or love interest) in her quarters. Her name is Zaieil. She tells Shepard there are multiple universes, and ways to travel to some of them. There is a strong connection from her universe to Shepard’s because of this she is able to manipulate the laws of Shepard’s universe easily. She is the one who gave Shepard her advanced abilities.
• Zaieil tells Shepard that her people have been waiting for her universe to be strong enough and for one strong enough to lead them. The catalyst was just a test to see what choice Shepard would make, and that Shepard is the only one who can save Zaieil’s universe.
• In the past Zaieil’s people traveled to an infected universe and brought back a race called the Orthax. Three Orthax in hours indoctrinated entire civilizations and took control of an entire planet. Zaieil’s people placed a very powerful barrier around the planet to save the rest of the universe, but it has slowly been weakening.
• The indoctrinated creatures from this and other planets are now a race of twisted and mutilated insect like animals. They were named after the first planet that was overrun: the Trayzor. Zaieil tells Shepard they are fighting a losing battle with the Trayzor, and that she is the only one who can defeat them; however, even after the Trayzor are destroyed the planet of Trayzor itself is now sentient, and a weapon. They believe the last remaining Orthax is at the center of it.
• Zaieil hints that Shepard will eventually be faced with the Trayzor one way or another…

Here are links to read my full story. I can easily re-write this in a script format. I do plan to re-write parts of what I have posted, and I am open to cooler names than Orthax or Trayzor.

Story is King!

This is just the tip of the iceberg. I have an ending, but I do not want to publicly share it since it would ruin the story. Actually…I doubt anyone has read this far. If you have well you’re my new BFF!

To go along with my previous posts it would be very easy to make a kind of cause and effect to each choice made in ME4. Keep in mind that the ending to ME3 was a test by the catalyst who is working with a technologically advanced race from another universe. Shepard did not in fact die. All this is outlined in my previous post.

Choice Made in ME3:

Destroy
Consequences: No Citadel in ME4. Shepard cannot use Reaper forces when fighting the war in the other universe. It is harder to travel in our universe because of the non-functioning Mass Effect relays-some will be working. EDI is no longer functioning. If Shepard chose to save the Rachni queen both times the Rachni will still follow Shepard into the other universe.

Synthesis
Consequences: She can use Reaper forces. Citadel was not destroyed and you can buy supplies there, and do extended missions. EDI will be alive. Better team functionality. More races are willing to follow Shepard into the other universe to fight the war. If Shepard chose to save the Rachni queen both times the Rachni will follow you into the other universe.

Control
Consequences: Fewer allies. Reapers will fight against the control. Attacks by the Illusive man who wants to take over, and/or an attempt at a truce. There are fewer choices with the people from the other universe because they cannot trust Shepard because he chose to take control. Even if Shepard chose to save the Rachni queen both times the Rachni will not follow Shepard into the other universe.

These are some quick examples of consequences that could change game play in ME4, and thus, solve the common complaint that there were no consequences for the choices made in ME3.

Thank you for reading my posts! I am so passionate about the ME universe. These games are amazing! I don’t want to see this end, and I’m so happy that BioWare is considering making ME4. I hope that some of my ideas will be taken into consideration. I have an ending and more ideas to come! Feel free to check out my blog, DA page, or fan fiction page.

Even though now after extended cut and DLCs I do "like" ending of the third game - I'm not fan of it, but atleast it makes more sense now. I'm not really that intersted in mass effect universe anymore and I don't really see anyway that would change.

One thing I am somewhat interested in is story from shadier side of galaxy. No saving galaxy again. Shepard was hero.. atleast my Shepard was... perfect example of all good qualities of humanity. He was one who would fight and sacrifice his life for greater good. I want protagonist that generally would by his place in world be considered more of antihero than hero in mass effect universe.

Sequel, new galaxy. Go back to that sense of exploration. If you do a prequel or a midiquel it will be a dead end for creativity. Only with a sequel can you really explore any idea that you want to with no constraints.

Sequel. And keep it an RPG Montreal. If not, don't. And sell half. Good luck.

Again, please be a sequel or an alternate galaxy or universe.
I don't want to play as an already established character like garrus or anyone.
The only way this game will work is if its a brand new character that the player can customize (appearance, backstory, class etc.) like we could with shepard.
If I don't see any of the characters from ME1 2 and 3 that's fine. Their story ended, I can move on.
I want a deeper sense of exploration, more gameplay types (vehicles mainly) and a customizable ship as your hub like the Normandy.
Just please don't let it be a prequel and please don't make us play as garrus.
Think Dragon Age Origins when going into this one. You will succeed and win back the love of your fans.

Canonize Destroy. OR do a varied start based on final ME3 choice. Would require some wrestling, but is doable. No IT / alternate universe bool****e, it has to be the same "timeline", I would felt kicked in the bottom if my 160hrs playtime wouldnt mind for the next game. It can even take płace centuries after original saga. Don't mind.

But would prefer DA: O style with different origins leading to the main plot and cameos /easter eggs from original trilogy chars.

I SIMPLY WANT THE ORIGINAL TRILOGY MATTER.

I think Casey Hudson and the Mass Effect dev team should make a spiritual successor to Mass Effect: another awesome, troperiffic, SF space opera epic but that brings some new things to the table and tells its story in a brand new universe.

The next best option, for new series set in the same fictional universe would be one that is set in a neighboring galaxy, many centuries after ME3, and has to do with colonies and exploration and the dangers the people living and adventuring in a different galaxy would face. That way players will be able to see familiar races and tech and enjoy the possibility of the choice they made at the end of ME3, while reduced to a footnote in the codices, at least accounted for (with the possible exception of Refuse; with the implications for galactic civilization that Refuse leaves in its wake, I can't see the writers writing their way around that at least not with the scenario I have proposed in this paragraph).

I fear that no matter what, a sequel trilogy will likely disappoint me. If forced to choose a canonical ending for ME3 in order to more easily move forward, they're going to ****** off someone or other. I don't see myself buying a prequel, sidequel (set during ME Trilogy), or spin-offs featuring various characters (e.g. Garrus solo game). I might try an MMO, but unless it really offers something I've never seen in the other MMOs I've tried, I won't stick with it. It's the sort of thing that I'd be waiting until it goes Free-To-Play before bothering with in any case.

First, some suggestions Based on "Destroy Ending" as canon:

- 5 to 10 years after ME3. Time enough for the galaxy to be almost perfectly rebuilt with the tech of the day; not too long not to be remembered; time enough for a villain to have raised enough to be a menace.

- So, a villain would be a human or an alien race, but a known one. Not another "unknown race or construct with a power we have never seen" (and please, not "something that could make the Reapers seem like a small threat". This kind of thing is just ridiculous. Leave the Reapers as the biggest threat ever faced. Just make a new big threat, no need to call it "the biggest ever"). Make it a possible traitor, someone who was part of the rebuilding effort before, but became corrupt. Or found something to build upon.

- Why should we avoid Sheppard, if after the first game, people would be complaining that the new hero is simply not Sheppard? So, my solution would be a quest for Sheppard after an introduction, or a way to make Sheppard fight again. Then, Sheppard would be the main character again.

- One or two squad-mates from ME3. James is young enough, and could be a better ranking officer. Garrus and probably one more. New characters.

- The Villain would start by killing one of Sheppard's old squad-mates, in order to try to discover part of something Sheppard and the crew saw during their travels. This could help the plot and motivation.

- Earth would be a planet to be explored, not just mentioned, and not just shown.

- More in-galaxy or in-system exploration, and less jumping around the galaxy-map.

- The Citadel's Presidium would be available again, in all its glory.

- An old squad-mate could be a traitor, discovered late in the game. Could explain the villain's apparent advantage.

- The Normandy 3, updated from the second Normandy!

- Lots of possibilities. The kind that make a difference. Turning "bad" and leaving the alliance; maybe even fight the alliance in a true "bad" turning. And some good, but different, "Paragon" endings.

- A great balance of RPG and action, like ME1 (not the action mechanics, granted)!

- Equipment and armors, like ME1!

- Try to write the key points for 3 games, especially the endings. Don't try to write if you can't have an ending or objective before starting!

- Less grey, and more defined paths. Don't force relationships or actions. Even dialogues. And morality that matters. It's part of having choices, not pseudo-choices.

- No more Cerberus! Been there, done that!

- No indoctrination or similar plot device.Been there, done that!

----- Other suggestions as alternate possibilities:

- If Sheppard is not the main character, or a character is not a specific person (personally don't like not having Shepard or a specific protagonist, but anyway...), let us choose the race of our character. Maybe in the way of DAO.

- More fighting possibilities if choosing race is possible. Like more possibilities for "hand-to-hand" combat, or Biotic powers as weapons, for alien characters.

- That would apply also for the classes. In the ME3 Earth battle, taking any non-soldier "tank character" could make it more difficult. It shouldn't. And not just in terms of paying attention to them. If classes make weaker characters, why bother? So, let any class or built be self-sufficient in any fight, regardless of their style.

- A pool of choices that makes more sense. Especially in terms of who to take on a mission. Like ME2's finale. In ME3, besides "forced" moments, you could actually take anyone for a mission, or just never use a character. Less forced moments, and more choices that have a reason. But a wrong choice could still be made, and that would just make that part of the game more difficult.

- Squad and other colleagues formation. Find possible squad-mates that you never make part of the team (for example, you could find 10 possible squad-mates along the game, but only have 6 squad-mates at all times), or even pilots, doctors, mechanics, engineers. New and more ample possibilities.

More to come.

No prequels, no MMO, no pure FPS/action/action-adventure game.

I really want another ME RPG trilogy, set AFTER ME3 and with a new hero we can customize like Shep and transfer throughout 3 games.

Plz Bioware!

^this
bonus: Shepard cameo/LI cameo.
I'll throw my money at your front office if you do this.

Focus more on the RPG elements. If I wanted to play an action game, I'd play BF3 or something.

Bioware should not hold themselves back for the sake of catering to a larger audience and/or self-entitled fans.

However, a game set in:
  • The Future
  • The not-so-distant Past (ie. 100-200 years before humanity's entrance onto the galactic scene)
  • The Prothean Cycle
-would make this fan very happy.

You need to redefine the ME universe, if I could I would create a new Sci-Fi universe since you could improve and evolve on successful concepts. I could have left the ME universe after Shepard's arc was completed. Since this will not be happening, the best thing you could do is distance yourself from having a similar narrative and setting that ME 1-3 had.
No galaxy hero, saving the galaxy again, it would feel like another Shepard story. So instead of an epic journey of empowerment to save the galaxy maybe try to do a more personal story about survival.

I am sure that with Frostbite 3 the game will look great, try to use this, slow down the pace and try to entertain us not by urgency and explosions but rather a sense of prescience in the world.
A lot of the time when you move trough a world in games, it feels like you are moving through a three dimensional postcard, pretty for a second but frozen in time. If I walk into a bar in the game and I mute the sound, don't have it look like a mannequin fest.

Limit the violence (say what?!), hear me out. The combat was nothing really spectacular to begin with and more often then not it was a distraction to the story. Have it to be combat of significance not just filler. Most developers can make a game that throws countless enemies at you and try to dazzle you with nice particle effects and cool weapons. Only great ones could give you the same entertainment value and "only" let you kill/disable 10 people in the entire game. It is so ingrained in us to shot stuff in games I doubt many would dare not to throw in enemies in droves for us to kill even though it would not benefit the game, look at L.A. Noire as an example, solving mysteries was great, shoot outs was routine at best and did not help the quality of the game yet it was there.  Try new ways of interacting with the world then just shooting at it.

Don't make as though the LI part of the game is a reward for choosing the romance option three times. Hell, just do a Red Dead Redemption and let the player be married from the get go, no options as to who you want to romance just if you want to stay in the marriage or not.

One thing I never liked about ME is that it has no space combat... I know it's supposed to be a shooter/RPG but seeing all those cool ships and never being able to fly one...

One of my favorite games of all times is Freelancer. A spinoff that is more about space combat and less about shooting would be well recieved by me. ;)

Better ways of team mate loyalty.

Rather than doing just a side quest for your team mate, also allow there loyalty to be determined by the amount you use them through a playthrough. This would add more to romance options, but also make team mates stronger, have more cutscene jibber-jabber together, and also effect what they do in the end scene.

Also sort out paragon/renagade. Either allow for the player to be a baddy or don't. Having a stinky attitude doesn't justify some of the ott actions that you can do. Instead allow them to be either good, bad or anti-hero type character, but make it matter. Stay away from your own cannon ideas and leave that for the movie and not the games.

But I doubt you guys will do another ME RPG style game, so perhaps I posted for fudge all. Is that cake over there?

KEEP SHEPARD ALIVE! I cant emphasize that enough! With the best ending, Shepard lives, most things are damaged but not destroyed (and they can be rebuilt), the Normandy crashes, but everyone survives, my LI refuses to put my name on the memorial wall because she has some kind of hunch that I am alive, then the Normandy takes off to reunite with Shepard. But hes not going to be in the next one? well that sucks...
Everything could be set up for another trilogy if you try. For enemies, starchild said "they" had to find a new solution, the leviathans would fight only for themselves as the apex race, showing that they want to make all other races subservant, plus, a lot of relays have never been activated because the council doesnt know if they will find a hostile species. Make them find that hostile species! Even better, make some super relay link to the next galaxy and make some sort of intergalactic war.
Also, the crew needs to be adressed. The SR-2 has lounges and a sick cabin, there's the silversun strip and the rest of the citadel; all great places to hang with your crew. but.... you really cant. the Citadel DLC gave us some of this, but only during the DLC. Afterwards you could not invite someone up again. Why not? In my opinion you should be able to invite Garrus and James to some poker, Javik for a drink, Liara for a date, take Tali to the casino... the possibilities are endless if you take the time to implement them.
Going back to my first point though, you cant just kill Shepard. following your shepard through his jurneys and turmoils, relationships and enemies is what made the series great. you take that away and its not mass effect anymore.
Im sure you guys will be able to do this, like, come up with a new enemy/trilogy involving shepard and the improved crew. If you guys can come up with fat, stibby, ammonia breathing things, blue tentacle women, giant warlike frogboys and massive.... whatever the hell elcor are then you should be able to come up with a shepard sequal...

Just to put my opinion on Shepard out there...
Sure, there are a lot of people out there that would like a new character with a chooseable race (even me, that would be kind of cool). but leave that for a side game. Shepard IS Mass Effect. Even though there are a good amount of people who would want a new Shepard, there are also a LOT of people who want to see Shepard survive. Without Shepard you run the risk of pissing off your fan base and even forcing people to leave. As a result... You will make less money!

There. Now that they know they'll loose money they have to listen lol

Don't make promises that you won't keep...Don't do a prequel that is as uncreative as it gets. Do an alternate reality and start fresh, the endings to ME3 make it really hard to make a decent sequel unless we sprinkle some of that space magic in there and we all know how that'll go. The endings were so bad I have a great idea, get a new writing crew.

Yes. This. And make them good promises.

Also, if it is a probability, you could put nudity in the game, to appease to some of the more mature fanbase, and if this new game will be rated M for Mature by the ESRB. You should also put in the option for the player to either make it censored or uncensored to his/her liking.

I really wish I could be a voice actor in the game also.
