It saddens me that there is people who want to kill two mediums.Seival wrote...

Next Seival will suggest hiring David Cage as the lead writer for ME4.
Why trying to make endless attempts to find a studio who will make questionable Mass Effect movie eventually? Games have far greater potential even now. BioWare could make an interactive-movie game based on MEU themselves (in addition to upcoming NME of course).
I really hope that time when games and movies will finally merge into one entity will come soon

Why? Games have FAR MORE (and largely untapped) story-telling potential than movies ever had, specifically, because unlike virtually any other entertainment medium, games have the ability to involve the audience in the storytelling process.
But that's going to disappear if devs keep appealing to the lowest common denominator, which is exactly what you suggest: Static level design, where you can look but you can't touch; where you go from one cut-scene to the next, and have no control over what happens or what "your" character actually says or does - NO! Bad game design!
What worries me, is that thanks do the greedy incompetents at EA, BioWare is already leaning in that direction. And that's sad, because BioWare is capable of so much more.

Also, the biggest advantages of video games probably isn't the one you think it is.

And what 'serious advantages do movies have that games will never touch'?
EDIT: @ATiBotka "heroism" as in you (the player) get to be the hero (protagonist) in the story. Thank you! You've proven my piontB)

And the biggest advantage of movies (compared to games, anyway) is...well...it's a phenomena there's really no term for. I suppose you might call it 'subtle conflict'? Video games have a very difficult time with that. The conflicts have to be direct and obvious.

Reason why games have difficulty with subtle storytelling, is due to general game developer inexperience with that.
Not because video games are fundamentally inept to be more subtle with their storytelling.

Agreed!
This is why I think the story-telling potential of games is still largely untapped.

I can think of one advantage a movie has over video games: there are times when I'm just too tired to do anything (usually when I'm ill), I can lay down and just relax without typing, pressing buttons, nor thinking about how I want to handle the next hostile encounter. sometimes I just want to nosh on chips and watch someone get runthrough, shot, beheaded etc. without having to do it myself. that's a way movies one-up vidoegames.

In the past decade, how many countless kids have grown up with video games, gone to college to make video games, thought they had all these revolutionary ideas about video games...
There's no revolutionary vault of super storytelling right around the corner. Someone would have figured it out by now. The fundamentals remain as they always have.
