remove thermal clips bring back the old ME1 upgrade system.

you could justify it by a codex entry: In the aftermath of the reaper war it was found that in a war of attrition with strained and sometimes non existing supplies a fatal flaw was exposed in the detachable heatsink system. Defending forces found a steady stockpile of thermal clips hard to come by leading to countless garrisons being overrun as once their supplies of thermal clips ran out their weapons become effectively useless.

in contrast a few small colony worlds on the isolated fringes of space that had stuck with what has now been doubled the "classic model" were able to repeal large waves of husks by using alternating fields of fire and hit and run tactics. Additionally although considered outdated high end mods led to some militia forces having weapons that could fire hundred's of rounds before overheating, Thermal clip manufactures point out such weapon mod's were extremely rare even before widespread adoption of detachable Heatsinks and remain prohibitively expensive to this day. Thus they would not have been available to most forces at the outbreak of the reaper war. However Demand for "classic Model" heatsinks has became so high after the war, Today only selective weapons (such as those used by security forces, who discourage "spray and pray" tactics) use Detachable heatsinks.

Many supporters of Thermal Clips blame conspiracy theorist's who point to unverified links that the adoption of Thermal Clips as part of a Cerberus plot to weaken galactic forces and point to how quickly "Classic System" weapons were phased out of most of citadel space Despite very little study into the pro's and con's of adopting thermal Clips. Dismissing such arguments as being based on nothing more then rumour and innuendo.

many war veterans suggest those in charge when the decision was made, likely never participated in a real war and had spent too much time playing popular First person Shooter simulations further damaging the reputation of what was once viewed as a revolutionary step forward.

I just hope that the future game has a good number of references to the trilogy. Either in monuments/memorials, in dialogue (both main and NPC conversations), or even seeing a few of the crew members (like Liara, Grunt, and Wrex since their species live the longest)

That's precisely what I don't want.  The less the original trilogy is referrenced the better.  I don't even want an import.

I say put it all behind us and start over, with no baggage.

Agree get far away from Shep so that you have to reference as little as possible.

So much of this, a good cop story set in the ME universe would be a blast :)

L.A. Noire cop-style, haha. Oh, that would indeed be fun. . .

I am, personally, very satisfied with the ending of Mass Effect 3. I have never had a single complaint about it. You can't make everyone happy, though, and the unhappiest people tend to make the biggest fuss over things. I have no opinion on picking a canon ending and using that for a fourth game.

I think it would be pretty fun if, in the next game, we could pick which race we play as. Although I do enjoy Mass Effect 2, much of the game to me felt as though I was just running around doing stuff for my squad members. It did not have the urgency and desperation that I felt in Mass Effect 1 and 3. I didn't feel as though much of what I was doing had an effect on the entire galaxy like in the other games, or at least large groups of people, but rather. . . just my squadmates. I did enjoy the planet scanning and wouldn't mind having something similar (or the war assets bit, for that matter), but I did not at all enjoy having to take the Mako everywhere in the first game. I'm not a very good driver and was excellent at damaging my tires just by driving around. :)

In all honesty though, I wouldn't worry too much about what everyone wants. Take all demands with a grain of salt. Make something you are happy and proud of. If you are always giving everyone else what they want, you will soon lose the joy in your own creation. You will lose your passion for it. And it is a very sad day when that happens.

Ummm.....Remove the thermal clips? Don't think so. It was to easy to get all the gear needed to have unlimited ammo/heat to fire your weapons indefinitely with the system ME1 had. By the time I reached half-way into my first playthrough, I could fire my weapons the entire time and they still wouldn't overheat. Even with HighEx rounds.

Good idea though, but too easy to exploit.

There is no reason not to have both just like ME3 does. Its interesting design space to exploit. The Collector Sub Machine Gun, Collector Sniper Rifle, Prothean Pulse Rifle and Lancer are all interesting weapons and worth having.

Mr Hudson, if you could avoid saying the BS you sayed to promote ME3 it would be a great starting point.... but then again, so would be leaving the serie alone instead of milking more money out of it

Here's my two cents on what I want to see in the next ME game: -

- More hairstyle options (e.g. giving a female character a mohawk, hell, give players the option to give a female character the clean-shaven bald option!).

- The ability to give your character tattoos and place them anywhere on the body.

- The ability to customize your characters build (e.g. thin, average, muscular, ripped, athletic, et cetera...).

- More civilian clothing options for the player character for when he/she is not in battle and give players the ability to change the colour of the civilian outfits.

- Another idea I had thanks to video-game, Alpha Protocol, you can give players the ability for the PC to wear a hat and or sunglasses, both on and off the battlefield.

- The ability to sneak around , say, an enemy base undetected as an alternative to to just storming the base guns a-blazin'.

- A Fallout 3/New Vegas-style open world explorartion. (Maybe add a fast-travel option as well.)

that just means it needs tweaking not abandoning the system to appeal for more shooter fans over RPG supporters.

and the only way to get all the upgrades you need before you reached halfway was to exploit the random loot system or get very very lucky.

one gun maybe not all. not without loading reloading over and over until you get the mods you want (in which case you sort of did that to yourself) NG+ you obviously would get high end mods but thats the point of the system.

That does kinda lead up to something I'd want to see:

Make an RPG with some shooter mechanics, not a shooter with some RPG mechanics

I guess something that's really bugged me with mass effect 2&3, was that several characters seemed to wear rather flimsy clothing in combat, a catsuit... really Miranda? also the partial face masks, um... to survive in a vacuum, you actually need a sealed and pressurized suit, a mask covering your nose and mouth won't cut it. so, I guess I'm asking for less catsuits & masks, and more armor plating and actual sealed helmets (or at least more helmets in open space).

Invisible Man it's not just a vacuum if you lower the atmospheric pressure enough the water in your eye balls will boil at room temperature. And do not forget the capillaries bursting in Samara's magnificent cleavage.

It bugged me too, the next ME should have realistic armour/pressure suits as the (non DLC) default option, also have the characters in their civvies and/or working uniform when they are on the ship and in armour when on a mission (like Shepard). Work also needs to done on the narrative helmet off when talking option, the helmets would disappear and reappear at the oddest times.

While I'm on a roll Thane's funeral, Joker and Bailey were in their working uniforms and not in their dress uniforms and if you already knew what was coming you could put Shepard in his dress uniform or you would end up with him in whatever he is wearing when you start the section. In the summit Shepard would switch to his dress uniform for the meeting. That bugged me a lot actually.

I am aware of most if not all of the "issues" with the science there. if I was to name every immersion breaking tidbit I'd still be writing my initial post now. so, I figured I'd keep it simple.

So many new flavors, so many of them delicious...

I, myself, am rather swamped by this influx, but if Hudson is to see this, why not give it a shot?

As a fan of the trilogy, especially of its contemporary, yet refreshingly grit-free storytelling, I can list five suggestions right of the bat, which involve a Setting, Plot Point, the Soundtrack, some Mechanics, and newer forms of Interaction.

Setting- In sprawling through here, I can't distinctly remember if anyone already suggested Time Travel. It's a risky endeavour, but I'm thinking that perhaps a hapless, or even renegade, race discovers the secrets behind time travel, yet unwittingly make way to the time before the Asari discovered the Citadel, or even before the Mass Relays' discovery. With these travelers as the only beings that could even be capable of interstellar travel, they find themselves stranded temporarily, yet still able to piece together a more succinct puzzle of what the Protheans have left behind. This decision could either catalyze their discovery, or inadvertently lead to widespread chaos.

Plot Point- Taken from a First-Page-Suggestion, maybe Andromeda and other Galaxies can be involved in what's already such a melting pot. I leave this to the liberty of the in-house writers, but I'm thinking of either having life even more complex than what's already been imagined, or even leaving such galaxies open as lifeless, but rich paradisos ready for the taking. Somehow, it could be as well-integrated as Spore's Galactic Mode, with just as fertile tools and frontiers available to explore and be affixed as just as mysterious a plot point as the Protheans to begin with, though the mystery sprawls beyond the confines of space and time to practically metaphysical reaches

Soundtrack- From my perspective, I see the entire trilogy's soundtrack as this: Hans Zimmer, Brian Eno, Klaus Schulze, and Prog Supergroup U.K. meet for a Stellar Powwow. Great tunes, great atmosphere; I would definitely like to see more of this, though with just a few more flourishes of ambient music that's both energetic and perhaps isolating. Just for further reference, I would recommend Eno's "Apollo" Soundtrack, Several works by Schulze ("X," "...Live...," and "Mirage" come to mind), and U.K.'s two studio albums ("U.K.," & "Danger Money"). In short: Electronic Ambience blends with Eclectic Energies and Odd Rhythms, per the situation.

Mechanics- Everything might as well be based upon Thermal Clips and Conversation, but it rightfully bears repetition. As much as I got a kick out of the Action-Based Gameplay of the latter two Entries, the first still holds its own through Exploration. As such, I think it would be prime to find a balance between Freelance Exploration, Dynamically Heated, yet Balanced Encounters (no matter if scripted or otherwise), and More Diverse Conversations. If a proper boundary can be maintained, maybe vehicles can make a comeback; they won't even have to be limited to the Mako or DLC-Hodgepodge such as the Hammerhead. As such, maybe expansion can be made to Starfighters, drawing influence from the successes of Totally Games' "X-Wing vs. TIE Fighter" Series and (ironically enough) Origin Systems' "Wing Commander" Series. Drawing back to Bioware's past glories (i.e. Baldur's, Neverwinter, KOTOR), maybe more stat-crunching could be made available for the more strategically-minded player, while keeping enough foes to ensure an ever-mounting challenge that lives to the premise's promises. As an afterthought, maybe weapons can be placed in just as serviceable an inventory as ME3, though with more opportunities for customization and perhaps bringing maintainence as an integral measure of ensuring survival. As for ammunition, a sweet balance was also struck through ME3, with dead-on accuracy and callbacks to the thermal-clip-free system of ME1. Perhaps more can be done to intensify the negative consequences of just firing aimlessly aside from thermal clips and overheating. Perhaps this balance can be kept to ensure just as fair and challenging an experience as possible. Yet another afterthought, Powers of all sorts are very well-balanced and enjoyable, so maybe some work can be done in ensuring diversity, but I see no other ground to cover.

Interaction- And in speaking of Bioware, can it get any better on the sidelines than with the dialogue? I admire the previous games with the conversation wheel, but maybe a transition can be made to include even more options to choose from; still generalizations to choose from that are fully acted, but ones that become very much alive in allowing more elucidation and outcomes than just the stagnation that could be found, say, sometime after a character's loyalty mission had been completed. Even with this harrowing extent of storytelling, much more can be done to make the entire cast (including extras) more diverse, engaging, and able to sympathize with.

Other Pointers and Farewell- Quite a bit to digest, but I grew quite a heart for this series. Much like many of those who have already voiced their interests, I wholeheartedly believe that much can be done with a clean slate. It just has to be taken in knowing that with all these newer adaptations, the series already has an impressive legacy that mustn't be wholly overlooked. How it can be integrated remains a challenge, but so does the culmination of ideas that sprawl across these 200+ pages. To Howard, may the best come to fruition in this new entry from your behalf and BioWare's. To all, feel free to comment on anything; I'm open to criticism of all sorts, but thank you for including me in such a diverse, intelligent, persevering community.

Keelah Se'lai.

The option for cool guy sunglasses.

That's all I want. Seriously. So I can tell someone to "deal with it" with confidence.

EDIT: And I suppose customizing your armor to your EXACT taste would be nice. Kinda think of a Forza motorsport ability of customization. If I could roll around with N7 armor that had the styling of Captain America... that'd be awesome.

I admit I would have liked to have been able add the spectre insignia to my armor's pauldrons, or one of em.

I think this shouldn't be considered until Development is almost finished. While I would love this, I wouldn't want the game to feel rushed because too much time was spent on this.

As for what I would want;

-Race options, would love to play as an Asari or Turian.

-Bring back exploration!(but I do not feel open-world is the right direction. I just don't think it works as well for space-travel as it does for games that are fixed to one world)

-While Renegade and Paragon options are awesome. I would love to see Grey/Neutral advantages/disadvantages.

-Please, no Multiplayer. I am sure there are some who enjoyed it in ME3. I myself never even loaded it up. I just don't feel it's the right direction for this genre.

-Shepard! lol Honestly I feel he has to atleast be mentioned. Even if the story takes place hundreds of years later. It was such a major event that involved the entire galaxy that it would be in the history "books". Unless this is intended to be a reboot that is.

I definitely want more facial hair for male characters. I understand that it didn't  really fit with the military background Shepard had, but you'd think a Specter would be allowed a beard if he wanted.

One of the most important things about the new cast is that they should have no relation to any of the ME trilogy characters. Its time for some fresh new characters and new bloodlines (any descendents from the characters of the main trilogy will just be a 2.0 version of them).

I think one might work, as long as that character isn't a carbon copy of his or her parents. differing personality, style, perhaps skill sets as well.

well, a few of the characters will still be alive even if the game is a couple of centuries after the trilogy (liara, grunt, possibly wrex); I'm not saying that they'll be team members but they still could have small roles in the game. I don't mean roles for the main story, but on side quests, dialogue, etc; I was thinking more along the lines of when traveling to other planets/exploring, if tuchanka or thessia are available to go to, you could possibly see them with their new "careers". For example: if the player chooses to go to Thessia, the religious/science temple is one of the areas you can go to (nothing to do with the campaign), and Liara would have become the overseer of the facility/scientist.

So, I'm just implying small things like this, not pushing them into the game, for all I care their characters don't even need to be ones you interact with.
