some ideas for the New Mass effect
Mass effect Beyond The Horizon( mass effect with more RPG elements) : Choose betwen human,Asari,Turian, quarian, volus,Krogan, salarian and maybe raloi, And Each with thier own Special Costmazibility options (some more then others),maybe Galaxy wide Openworld( you can explore what you want), so you may have to Buy your own Ship/shuttle and maybe make some money with side missons (maybe Meet some old friends of sheperd). The Game Set place After ME3 (Control or Destroy ending) when a new Conlfict may Begin.
Bioware can you plz make it like that ?
I'm for all of that. Here's to hoping the game universe expands beyond the Milky Way and onto neighboring galaxies. We could have the next series in the Andromeda Galaxy. Then again... why be centered into another trilogy and simply build upon each game. Cannon Shepard's legacy to destroying the synthetics and build upon that.
I can only hope they evolve the game format from the linear gameplay and introduce more open world aspects, with less hand holding.
I know it is probably just a repetition of previously mentioned ideas but I really like the idea of exploring a new system far away from known space. The plot could be something like the mission goes wrong and the ship is stranded there in some unknown sector or something else occures and now you have to deal with things. There is new species and maybe you can even play as asari, turian, salarian, humans, maybe even more like the krogan, drell or quarian.
I just like for the plot to be drawn back from the extermination of all life in the galaxy and be more personally focused this time for a change of pace or just having the extinction be on a smaller scale; maybe in this foreign part of space, the survival of one or more of the races is up to you and your actions.
Otherwise, I like the idea of being a mercenary this time around or someone with mercenary interest. You have a ship, you have a crew, you have more freedom with your morals and no one to take orders from. You have to keep your crew happy or it could potentially end in mutiny or some other back-stabbing way. Maybe there's a mole in your crew. You can be some paragon righting wrongs by battling pirates or commit acts of piracy. Maybe both; you rob people but you leave them with their lives intact.
The universe in itself has enough potential that I wouldn't mind being a cop on some world, who gets in over their heads. Maybe you can choose between playing loose with the rules, taking bribes or just be a straight-up by-the-book sort. Either way, you get invovled with something and someone decides to off you and frame you leading to you having to prove your innocence and stop whatever is in the motion.
Basically, I'm cool with just about any plot as long as it's on a smaller scale in comparison to the trilogy, have multiple races to choose from and far, far less autodialogue. Seriously, ME3 had way too much autodialogue. If it was notable, it was too much and it was notable.
I'm agreeing with everything said in this thread completely, more so the playable races, deeper romance arcs, a better focus on story and lore, and a "grey morality system"...but did anyone ever consider co-op? No, I'm not talking the multiplayer horde/objective mode, but a campaign co-op mode in the world of Mass Effect. I asked if it had been considered, and threw in the suggestion into this moshpit of a thread before but never saw a response or consideration. Would people care for anything like this? Playing through the Mass Effect universe and story alongside your best bud, girlfriend or boyfriend, husband or wife, or random person online; sounds pretty awesome to me. Though, it would affect the squad system and another few things as well. Just throwing this out without any elaboration just yet, but anyone got any input here?
Less combat:
I want more missions and stuff to do that doesnt involve killing tons of people. Leviathan dlc was fun, it had combat but it also had detective stuff, so more those detective stuff. Allow us to build houses into planets, or allow us to decorate our room in our ship.
Better combat pacing:
instead of dropping us against 4 enemies and few feets later same 4 enemies (just like in me2), is not good pacing. Why those 4 same enemies few feet later could kill you if they cant kill you before that? Instead combine them to one group, make them retreat of few of them die and regroup and repositioning them self. Or give us ability to allow them to surrender instead of fighting for death. Or place those enemies differently that they have ability to kill you.
Less bullet sponge enemies:
In mass effect 2 you had to shoot ages to kill one guy, instead make them deadlier. ITs boring to shoot same guy 10 minutes. This also makes rapid fire shooting weapons useless, as they dont kill those guys fast enough to avoid damage, what also makes combat slow when using fast shooting weapons(because you have to regen shields again).
Better difficulties:
Instead of increasing enemy health, maybe increase their damage output, their pain resistance(stun animation if they take too much damage), make their projectiles go faster, their grenades explode faster. Its not harder, when you have to shoot longer at someting, it just takes more time.
I have a thread where people post suggestions here; http://forum.bioware.../#entry16718093
This here is a compilation of everything people have said that they wanted the next Mass Effect to have. What people on my thread said they wanted were...
Multiple Playable Races
Including Turians, Salarians and Asari. A few people asked about Krogan and Quarians. Personally, this is a BIG one for me - and I know it's huge for most of the ME community as well. This is obviously something almost everybody wants.
A "Grey" Morality System
Somebody on my thread mentioned that choices in the game should divide opinions between both players and in-game NPCs - one good example was the Genophage.
More Varied Gameplay
Lots of "I don't want a pew-pew-pew shooter" from guys on my thread, but not much elaboration beyond that.
Less Generic, More Mature Story
"Let's not save the galaxy again" - Geth_Prime
Good Audio
Having fuzzy audio in Dragon Age: Origins killed my immersion - so audio is just as important as those awesome new Frostbite 3 visuals you guys were teasing at the E3 EA Press Conference yesterday!
Mature Romances
Less of that "Press X For Sex" system. I personally think this is a really important one - a lot of ME1, ME2 and ME3's romances felt very empty or unrealistic. A quote from my thread;
"Romances should progress in unexpected directions, there shouldn't always be a clear dialogue option to impress your LI, and each relationship should be different and dynamic. One player's romance with a character might be a few casual sexual encounters, whereas another player's romance with the same character could be a deeply attached bond (maybe even a marriage) with all sorts of problems, including jealousy, control, or even biological incompatibility. Love and lust are incredibly complex, and I'd be happy if the game's romances reflected that."
Mixed Feedback on ME1's Working Economy
Some people liked the freedom of it, others found it too confusing, apparently.
Stealth Combat
I've heard this one mentioned here and there - I'm guessing that these guys want the option to remain undetected by enemy forces with tools to aid their stealth skills at their disposal, eg. if you use the Tactical Cloak to move out of enemy sight and then uncloak, the enemy shouldn't automatically know you're there again.
No Forced Romances
Sometimes, being nice to an NPC means that you cannot avoid a relationship with them (ME1's Kaiden being a good example). Somebody mentioned that specific NPCs could have specific approaches to trigger romances.
Realistic Eavesdropping
A couple of users mentioned how silly it was that the protagonist could just walk up to two NPC's private conversation and listen in without response, so it might be worth keeping that in mind for the next Mass Effect.
Non-ME3 Style Co-Op
Whilst a lot of people wish for ME3's multiplayer to return, a few users said that they'd like to see a co-operative mission mode similar to main story missions.
Bigger Citadel
A lot of people felt like the Citadel shrank over the course of the first ME trilogy.
Competitive Multiplayer
Not Deathmatch, but modes such as King of the Hill or Domination that still require teamwork. To help it fit with the lore, it could be some kind of holographic training simulator for C-Sec.
Playable Race Customisation
A few users said that if multiple playable races are included, then they'd like to see "hair, facial features, skin/scale tone and face paint" for alien species.
Toggling Helmets
A few people around the forum mentioned this, but I haven't seen it terribly often.
---
This is just one from me, but I'd like to see a romanceable female Turian as a squadmate - she could be a biotic, not a military cabal, but a civilian, eg. scientist or ex-journalist. I think that including a male Turian with tech abilities will just cause players to compare him to Garrus in terms of gameplay, and we don't see nearly enough female Turians.
Many good points provided by Arkus Eon, my thoughts on...

I hope the new game moves back to this true RPG element.

Expanded playable mutliplayer options would be nice but the big draw for me was team based combat vs the AI. The player vs player aspect such as Call of Duty seems to bring about the scum of the earth. Mass Effect 3's multiplayer really captured the teamwork aspect of multiplayer combat, people were engaged working as a team rather than trying to knife the ******* who squatted on them after knifing them two minutes into the match. I hope they utilize the strengths of Mass Effect 3's Multiplayer rather than trying to clone COD or Titan.
My Thoughts
I've been thinking about why I love Mass Effect and what draws me to it and what I thought that seems to be overlooked by most is FTL travel (exploring the galaxy or space exploration in general) more interactions with what is in the galaxy. Bring back the planetary exploration of Mass Effect 1 but apply that to space itself; a "Skyrim of space" if you will. I know I may be dreaming here but one of the things I liked about the original Mass Effect planet exploration was that I could actually go everywhere, now just imagine if you where guiding your space vessel through space much as you would ride a horse through Skyrim.
Just to be clear, my game ended with the Reapers destroyed and Shepard living:
I'd like to see that my Shepard made it back to Tali and built her their house on Rannoch. I'd love to hear a story about how Shepard, Garrus, and the rest of the gang took that tropical vacation and threw the second party of the century. I'd like to see Mordin remembered through Wrex and Bakkara's firstborn child, and hear the legend of Zaeed's 'retirement' assault on Omega, going out in a blaze of glory. Basically, I'd like to see that for all the hell these characters went through over the course of the games (and all the work I put in as a player), they got some measure of a happy ending.
I really hope the new Mass Effect game releases with a bonus disc similar to the one featured in the Mass Effect Limited Collector's Edition. I really loved all of the 'making of' documentaries and exclusive video content that really went into detail about the planning and conceptual phases of the game creation, especially with the art direction and the music composition. The video commentaries from the artists themselves were priceless--it was interesting to hear about the creation of certain characters and races, the justification for the decisions that were taken, and the evolution of the concepts through the game development. The disc also featured hundreds of drawings and paintings that one could browse through at their own pace.
This bonus disc was a window into BioWare's game development process and it allowed us to see and hear the developers in their element. In my opinion, these particular features made this collector's edition far more enjoyable than the ones for Mass Effect 2 and Mass Effect 3. While, Mass Effect 2 did include a bonus DVD with a few trailers and making of videos, but it wasn't as exhaustive. Mass Effect 3 featured some great videos with developers on the web, but many of these videos are difficult to access today. The BioWare panels at numerous video gaming expositions and comic conventions are outstanding (and I really hope they continue to engage their fans in this way), but sadly, they aren't accessible to everyone, while some key developers come and go. The videos on this disc seem like the closest thing to visiting the BioWare Edmonton Studio in person and meeting people like Casey Hudson and Derek Watts in their office while they discuss their craft.
I think the development process of the new Mass Effect game would have an intriguing story in itself, given all the discussion and controversy over Mass Effect 3 and the direction they pursuing to tell a new story in the Mass Effect universe. The decision to have the Montreal studio take the lead must be significant in itself, nevermind their ongoing commitment to listening to fan feedback and criticism The Mass Effect series truly is a work of art and I truly hope they can continue to provide that meaningful 'inside look.'
This may sound abit odd but can we have a RPG game where we DON'T HAVE TO SAVE THE WHOLE WORLD/GALAXY.
I am startede to getting bored of this, always hero of the day (or douchbag if you will). I wanna explore, i wanna make a mark in the world without the whole place on the edge to burn down. Role playing is not just about saving the day, It can be so much more.
There's not much that I can say that hasn't already been said, except that I would like to see Rachni, Elcor and Hanar taking a bigger (more serious) role in the story, as major NPCs and/or companions. I would also like to see at least races like the Rachni or Elcor as playable kits in MP for the new title.
I realize that the non-humanoid aliens would require extra work and a separate animation rig to implement into the game, but (IMO) its worth it if for no other reason then to distinguish Mass Effect from other mainstream Sci-Fi settings like Star Wars or Star Trek; where the entire galaxy is seemingly populated by humans, and then humans with pointy ears, or brow ridges, or spots, or tentacles.
BioWare has said that the switch to the Frostbite 3 engine will allow for greater inter-dependibility between the different teams; take a mechanic or asset from Dragon Age or Battlefield and plop it into Mass Effect:Next and it will work, due to the universal tools. In fact BioWare even said that DA:I was going to serve as a basis for future titles, by allowing teams to build off of the pre-existing framework rather than recreating everything from scratch.
Hopefully the time and effort freed up by this universal use of the Frostbite engine will mean that things like playable Rachni are less of a pipe dream and more of a definite possibility.
(NO, he does not.)
Casey Hudson wants to hear fan's ideas on a new mass effect game
(NO, he does not.)
Listening to fans =/= doing as the fans say
(Just pointing something out).
I've talked ad nauseam about what I think ME Next is going to be. The cliffs notes are essentially:
1) quick rundown of how a few of your major choices have effected the galaxy about 50 years after the end of ME:3. all of which somehow (either warfare leads to a group of scientists to secretly research or galactic peace leads a united front to research, depending on whether you got a perfect ending or not) leads to where they are now, which is a secret science base where theyre about to test a huge ship (hopefully) capable of transporting without a relay.
2) something happens, and as a result the ship not only transports, but it puts them in another galaxy. But, they burned the engine out and crashed the ship (which is still mostly in one piece) into a planet.
3) the rest of the game becomes about: how do we get home, how do we survive, alone in another universe, with no allies, strangers in a strange land?
The reason I thought (and still think) this is the most likely (and best-case, at least from what I can think of) scenario is mostly because of what Bioware has said in the past about the next mass effect game. That the next game wouldnt feature a "shep-like character", that it would be mostly disconnected from the events of the previous trilogy, It allows them to acknowlege the previous trilogy, and then move forward with something that wouldnt necessarily be mired in decisions past.

I've said it before; in this very thread way back on the old social network days but since at E3 there was another we want to listen to our fans I'll sum up once more.
Sequel, after the ends of Reaper war, long enough for Krogan and Asari veterans to die. Long enough for the idea of "The Shepard" to become an myth rather than a reality.
The galaxy in general chaos and disorder as various species try to recover/rebuild and gain power for themselves. "The Shepard" becomes god like to some (this could explain the human N7 armor in the concept trailer) whereas other view Shepard as an indoctrinated agent of the Reapers.
I think it has potential it also solves the problem of a "canon" ending as after millenia the details of the actual conflict are lost in time. All four options could even be debated by NPCs in the game itself.
There should be biotic enemies, just like liara`s mother in me 1.
And not just boring shockwaves or other damaging spell, but singularities, lifts...
Bring back the Mako or something similar, the Mako was a great vehicle and the problem was not with the Mako but the environments created around it not being suited to the limitations of the vehicle itself. Better environmental design not better vehicle design because the vehicle was already fine as it was, at least was better than the jumping jack space hopper used to replace it.
Do away with picking up missions through overhearing NPC chatter and improve the way quest tracking worked or in the case of ME3 did not work.
I already assumed they would be taking the series into another galaxy a year ago in the following game after ME3 ended so I am glad that is what they seem to be doing as opposed to the truly horrible idea of a retcon reboot. The likes of Star Trek Voyager, Deep Space 9 to some degree, Stargate Atlantis and Stargate Universe all had such a concept which worked well. A wormhole or event that transports a crew and ship to another region of space which is inhabited by different species and potentially even species whom have met before which also went through such a wormhole or event and also ended up in that region of space, forming colonies of their own. Where there is no need to retcon or even relate to the events of ME3 because your crew might have gone through such a wormhole before the events took place in the milky way galaxy.
...and for the love of god please no planet scanning for materials. At least turn resource gathering into a playable story enriched mission (actual content) if require resources for something not just launching some probe and moving on.
Please give us Co-Op!
Customisable ship or base of operations.
I figure the main character always has a base or ship, whether it's the Normandy in ME, the castle in Neverwinter Nights 2, etc.
It would be great to be able to thoroughly customise this main place that the character lives in.
SWTOR showed great strides in the area of customising your own star ship.
Let me do interior design, weapon design, shield design, completely design my room (Within reason of course, still have to be able to create the core animations that will happen to everyone, eg. When a character visits).
If it's a base let me customise defensive equipment, rooms (Structure can remain the same for everyone, but perhaps place the rooms in different areas), types of weapons used, uniforms, etc.
Not all of these ideas are feasible but the main idea I'm trying to promote here is customisation on a larger scale.
E3 stuff looks good. I'm glad you're moving the story forward.
In a perfect world I would like to see you make two separate games going pin different direction.
On one hand I would like to see something with a lot of action exploring the darker side of the galaxy. Maybe you're a smuggler or a bounty hunter or just a mercenary. Your ship isn't nearly as nice as the Normandy but it's still your base of operations. Let's see more than omega. Let's get a feel different underworld players in different parts of the galaxy. Let's go to the Mos Eisleys of the ME universe to ferret out information and find quests. Ship combat in some form would be nice as well. Since you would have a crew maybe you choose what role you want to play in space combat. You could pilot, man the weapons or just give out orders.
On the flip side, I would like to see more exploration. I would love to be able to fly over every planet in low orbit and actually land anywhere. There may not be much to do on very many planets but I think seeing them on a grander scale would add to the immersion. And please let us go into some of these gas giants. So in this game I'm thinking Spectre investigating new areas of the galaxy...or at least New to us. I'd like to see more peril from dangerous creatures or atmospheric dangers and small skirmishes. Think more space cop than space soldiers. You don't just kill hundreds of beings. Your first thought is apprehension not killing.
Of course either way the story is most important. Great characters, New species and all the old favorites (they are all favorites) Take us to New places and give us a deeper look at the ones we think we know. Whatever direction you take us...I can't wait to get there.
Honestly..if they make a new saga in the ME universe..anything set after ME3 i'd wanna hear about Shepard and how he made it back to the normandy crew, and finally got his freakin happy ending. Dude deserves it. Even if it was like a cameo or something you hear in passing, it'd be awesome to hear about ol' shepard one last time.
I love what I saw in No Man's Sky. I want exploration like that. Build your ship, customize it, assemble a crew, and travel the stars. Think Star Trek Voyager. The possibilities are limitless. Would also love to see Liara again. haha. She is an Asari so she has to still be kicking, right?
I'd like the game to encourage using different squadmates from time to time.
Because of my player's class or personal bias *coughGarrus, I tend to stick to using the same group(s) of squadmates for an entire playthrough. They become my crutch.
Because of the tech/decryption/etc abilities, ME1 kind of encouraged variety in your squad, but I feel like it could be pushed even further.
More than one more playable race I don't see happening. They have to voice act a whole lot more. Having only humans was a lot of work already.
I'm fine with that though, I'll take the extensive voice overs and one race instead of more races and a lot less voice acting.
Shepard should return, there are still things for him to finish. Atleast in a dlc for ME3 if not in a new game.
