Would love to see a multiplayer co-op game similar to the ME3 MP sections but with an actual story. If it was set throughout the original trilogy you could turn up after Shep and co have done there thing to sweep up or maybe even cross paths with them at some point. Your missions could come from Anderson directly and you could easily bump into key characters somewhere along the way.

This would mean you could keep the import system going where decisions as Shep affects how these games play out. This is kind of what I was hoping for from the MP missions in ME3.

All this would have to be in addition to a true single player ME sequel/prequel.

How bout just make a good COMPLETE story for next game. Keep with the action/rpg but maybe focus more on the rpg side of it again. Release it whens it's done and not when the penny pinchers want it out the door. Like to see something post ME3 but until I see where the ME3 story goes with DLC and how it effects everything it will be hard to even decide on what and where for future games.

I'll be happy to give ideas once I see the completed ME3 storyline. I can think of a few things I would like to see done but for now will sit back and be quiet.

mass effect 1,2, 3 being kinda like the matrix.

ME4 starts with (insert name here) waking up. All kind of bad ass things happening - make the reapers seem like nice guys.

Plz Bioware!

I agree with the above poster.  I loved the gameplay in ME3 - continue to build on that for gameplay.

For story and what not, use completely new characters, maybe a new galaxy, change the focus from saving the universe to something - maybe make the new hero a Han Solo type character on the run from the Alliance or something.  Increased choice and consequence.

Avoid the Hero's Journey - I don't care if you include other aspects commonly found in stories, but BioWare have heavily relied on the Hero's Journey in almost all of their games.

Prequel's are a bad idea and never turn out as well as you hoped - just look at the Star Wars Prequel Trilogy, we know too much of what happened before for a prequel to be a compelling game.

My thoughts for now anyways.

^^ ALL of this! :P :)

Kind of hard to see what they are going to do next. You already had galaxy purging super squids. Short of Galactus, I doubt anything can live up to the hype of the first 3 games.

My wishes & suggestions:

- NO dumbed down First Person Shooter
- keep the balance between 3rd person action & RPG elements
- keep dialogue wheel
- less auto dialogue than in ME3
- new human main protagonist/player character (not Shepard)
- keep character customization (gender, overall apperance, skill-tree, etc.)
- keep ME2/ME3 combat system
- keep Paragon/Renegade system
- would prefer to see a game set after the events of ME3 [don't care if one of the ME3 endings would be declared canon to have a ME4]
- all new exciting storyline
- all new alien races and old alien races
- new enemies
- all new interesting NPCs & squadmates
- cameo appearances of ME1 - ME3 characters (if they survived previous games)
- all new planets & worlds to visit
- keep Galaxy exploration
- planetary exploration reintroduced (MAKO/Hammerhead or all new vehicle)
- more hub worlds/open world levels
- more Love Interest interaction/dialogue
- squadmates should agree/disagree with player's actions much more (like in DA2) and earn friendship/rivalry points (with the possibilty that they might leave your party with too much rivalry or special bonuses with enough friendship points)
- all new player's starship
- more starship customization options

Go nuts. Mass Effect was about the Milky Way Galaxy. The races in there, the reapers, its conflicts, stories, exploring it. Go to another galaxy. Maybe Andromeda? The presence of eezo there and the mass effect technology would be the tie-in.

^ this i think this is the next step.

couple of hings first -

- NOT AN MMORPG OR FPS keep it single player RPG.
- no more auto dialogue unless its a cut scene.
- no more random entrances of main antagonist at the very end of the game and/or games.
- NO FETCH QUESTS

Story(off the top of my head):

starts off in the milky way the council wishes a research team with security obviously to go and find a peice of technology that has been lost for centuries, which is a prototype for traveling between galaxies, when they find the device something goes wrong the team and the lead character get sent to another galaxy (out of communications reach with the reaper if the player chose control or synthesis in the previous game or nothing to do with communication with the reapers if the player chose destroy in mass effect 3) .

when sent to this distant galaxy when the device is accidently activated, its destroyed after it sends them to another galaxy by accident, they have to find there way home but they are caught in a brutal war between waring races in the other galaxy and need to cut through the politics and waring races and discover new mass effect technologies from the other galaxy and use them to get home? aliens in that galaxy for some reason believe they are the only galaxy that exists? (for whatever reason lol), possibly spans 3 games?  (i know its very star trek : voyager ish but atleast it means we dont have to have a destroy cannon start)

the way the team is connected will depend on if the player chose synthesis or not,  the team will be comprised of salarians humans, drell, krogan, turians and a asari (one of them or you would be a spectre). new prototype ship like the normandy but obviously not the same design or you could do the same design in honour of the normandy and the crew. Dark energy would be a factor in why the device malfunctioned or whatever.

lead character isnt specific to race so that voice male or female depending on player preference would be used on which ever race they choose to go with (or can just stick with human starter as normal).

still working on this idea as i just wrote this idea off the top of my head lol
im probably going to get flamed or trolled for it but whatever.

Completely disagree with no prequel.

I want a spy game set somewhere between 2157-2183 (before ME1 but after first contact) where we play as an agent working for the systems alliance.

although.... It would be cool to have ME4 pick up from the end of ME3, with Shepard fully indoctrinated and the galaxy in ruins. You could play as a scientist who has figured out a way to cause a feedback loop that would destroy the reapers by reversing the polarity of the neutron flow in the indoctrination process. The problem is each reaper uses a unique process influenced by the species used to create them, and you can't do them one by one or they'll adapt. The only way is reverse engineer the process used by the controlling AI by dissecting the head of someone indoctrinated by them directly.

Only one organic has ever reached the AI and subsequently been indoctrinated.

You have to hunt down and kill the galaxy's greatest hero, now indoctrinated and wiping out resistance under the guise of organising a rebellion. You have to go up against the remains of the council fleet, the dogged remains of the alliance, COMMANDER GODDAMN SHEPARD and the all-but-victorious reapers and their legion of monsters and you have to WIN.

No Normandy. You steal, buy and upgrade ships as you go. There is the constant threat of indoctrination. Hidden in each area is a reaper device fail to destroy them and your dialogue options subtly change to hinder you. You cannot fully trust your crew. Are they indoctrinated? Do they really believe you? Hard choices matter. Taking one mission means there is not time to do another, sometimes leaving people to die is the only way to get out alive.

No autodialogue
No plotholes
No orbital fetchquests
NO COMPROMISE.

I think I'm in the minority here, but I hate prequels and I don't want to see one. They usually create continuity issues. I would much prefer to have a brand new series of games set after the events of Mass Effect 3, but this time allow for us to choose different races.

1. I really would like to have a universe when humans are involved. I would like a game set X years after mass 3 when the three endings can be written into a merged whole much like deus ex inviable war (shudder sorry about that), rather than set before first contact.
2. I would like the option to play more than one species, two would be cool as I know VO is expensive.
3. Being a specter would be good as long as this time it means something. Access to the specters resources never added up to much really. so it would be good if we were given missions from the council and rewards / resources for doing them
4. The over arching story can be a specter investigation with clues, action, romance, galaxy spanning travel. Leaving out the galaxy destroying super squid we get a much smaller threat but still a compelling story none the less.

I dont think it will ever happen, but I would love a Tactical RPG in the vein of XCOM, Fire emblem, FFT, etc. in the Mass Effect Universe. I think a lot of the game mechanics are translatable, such as the cover system, squad positioning, tech and biotic powers. I also think this would give the series a much needed sense of strategy. Don't get me wrong, I've played through the trilogy countless times and enjoy doing so to this day, and while I've never tried it, I think you could probably play through me2 and me3 without spending a single skill point or ever directing/using your squadmates. (I am guilty of the latter, usually I just kill everything in sight, and they auto-revive)

Best idea ever. That or a spin-off. Why? I would love to see more of Thessia, Palaven, and Earth before, during, or after when the reapers invade.

oh im toned down i just think people are making a big deal out of something that wont be out for 3 or 4 years

i just wish people would be more possitive minded instead of all doom and gloom

thats why i think bioware should do there own thing with the new ip that way they can see what they did good or bad

the issue with fan feed back ( not a critisizim) is that you just cant please everyone. its virtually impossible

to some that may sound like a slam or insult and its not intended to be.

i mean heck i see arguments about oh so and so didnt keep a specific promise yadda yadda w/e

can you honestly say anybody in the free world can keep every promise they make?

another thing i want to touch on is alot of posters are demanding choices to import wich i wouldnt mind myself but realisticly how would it work if its a prequel trilogy or even a sequel for that matter?

these are the things all us fans need to think about

A game that is set thousands of years after ME3. You importing a save file and the game explains for example why the reapers has left the galaxy and why all synthesis traces have disappeared

The game could maybe be about a grown up version of the kid from the epilogue.

Basically with they can cross Mass Effect with Firefly they should do that.

You should still have your own ship and a squad/crew to travel with.

Honestly, I don't know. The endings of ME3 make it difficult to do a sequel series unless they toss the destroy/control/synthesis thing out the window and force a canon ending to ME3. And at that point, I think it'll be hard to argue for the storytelling of the series anymore.

I'd like to see a prequel, something before Shep turned up on the scene. Show me the heroes of the Rachni Wars, or maybe the Krogan Rebellions. Or maybe the First Contact War--that would actually be very interesting.
