I would welcome if you, Bioware, would stop measuring your targeted sales on Skyrim and also would stop to streamline your games for the wide masses.
I would like you to return to the roots of ME1, add more Rpg-Elements (like more skills and a wider Variation for each class and also items like armors and an inventory, so thet players can customise their character and theit party). I know Mr. Hilleman thinks games have to be easy as tic tac toe, but that's not true. A bit of complexity adds to a games appealing - especially if it's an Rpg, because it leaves room for experimentation and by so adds replay-value.

Also i would like to see some new, neverseen features... something like space combat (eventhough i know this is unlikely).

I would also like, if combat varied a bit more. Frankly spoken, most of the time the ME-combat feels like: start mission, go to cover, enemy spawn, shoot, shoot, shoot - use skill - shoot, shoot, shoot, all dead, go a few steps further rinse and repeat.
Why not adding something like destructable cover... or cover, that can be also used to attack (like throwing crates through biotics... or perhaps you throw a grenade to a crystal-pylon and the explosion destroys it and turns the shards into shrapnell).
Also i liked that security-bots in ME2 had different hitzones so you could destroy heir legs and still they would fight) and i would like to see more enemies like that... maybe some robot or ferocious beast with armor your have to destroy before it takes damage.
In general a bit more variety in enemies would be nice. ME1-3 it was mostly just geth, reaper and humans but the environment of planets were always tame (no man-eating plants or something).

Those are things i would really like to see... oh, and put a little more Effort into the romances. Since ME1 they all felt too much like "Do you wanna date: yes, No, Maybe?"... and after this tame love-cutscene nothing ever happened - no love-quarrels or something. It almost felt like a one-night-stand and not a relationship.

A lot of what you're describing was in ME2, then inexplicably taken out of ME3. The base game had destructible crates you could take cover behind and the Liar of the Shadow Broker's ship (outside level) had Lightning towers you could shoot to electrify and stun/kill your enemies. I like ME3 a lot, I really do but ME2 was a step forward for the genre, ME3 took it a step back again. So I think we can all agree that we'd like the next Mass Effect to be a game that once more drives the Action-RPG genre forward again.

What is your stance on Tali's sweat?

Odorless? I thought Quarians are ultra clean?

I think they are pulling your leg.  Here in the forums (once upon a time) there was a huge discussion about Tali's sweat from a somewhat 'overzealous' fan.  It was long and involved somewhat disturbing to read.

This may be an inside joke refewrring to that thread.

I just want a Drell teammate... one that doesn't die T_T damn you bioware, you have made me weep so many times during ME3 that it isnt funny. I really love the Drell as a specie, and it's a bummer we only get to see three in the whole mass effect trilogy.

please...? Drell? * Offers cookies and rainbows *

A Drell? Again?

I'd rather have something new, like a badass Batarian punching everyone in the face, a Vorcha going nuts with his flamer or a Volus always looking for the best price at the local merchant. Oh, and a female Turian with lots of flexibility.

Can you link me to that thread? also for the Devs.. even if the old crew won't be back... I want to see Tali again... somehow...

I want a drell.

Sure, not an assassin drell in any way, but a drell.

Perhaps a much more science-friendly (instead of faith-friendly or killing-friendly) one.

I'd love them to switch up some of the basic squadmate combos so far. Like a male quarian, female turian/salarian/any of the other aliens. A batarian of any description! Plus different classes - asari sentinel with a fondness for tech rather than biotics? Turian biotic?

Plus different insights into other parts of society. Mordin, Garrus, Tali were the only squadmates of their race we've had, so their stories only offered one perspective. Having someone with a different role (e.g not a scientist salarian!) could be interesting.

I written an idea for an Asari who preferred other way of combat than using Biotics.. i thought you might be interested to read it here..  :)

I recently finished the Mass effect trilogy for the first time only a few months ago *gasp* yeah i know!

It's taken some time to digest, but like any great book i needed time to process! Hands down it is the best game/story i have ever played. I'll tell you why IMHO.

It's immersion, it's feeling invested in the world and the characters, its exploring, but caring about what's happening in the background (Saren, Collectors, reaper invasion). It's about having a mission, and a purpose. That's what i want Mass Effect 4 to be!

The way i see it, Mass effect is great for the fact that you are limited/it's linear in some ways - you play as one race, one faction/class (N7), with one ultimate goal - save the galaxy!

Within in that, you can mold this character to be male or female, gay or straight, evil or good. Which is just so awesome, because these factors (especially sexuality) are either done terribly, or not done at all. It's a foundation that is believable, because it is speaks to us as human.

Built upon that foundation, my shepard was created by the world and characters around her, by her/their actions and her/their deeds. It wasn't the option to have 5+ different races, and classes, it just said 'here is this story, you are this person, now go play it!'

Now to create a really great story, you need to deliver. Mass effect did - to the point where i was playing in disbelief, honestly i can't think of one game that I have EVER played that actually has tailored gay female dialogue. And did it so brilliantly!

What suprises me about the end is that i thought it was actually pretty spot on (yes i do have the extended cut but i still think it worked as the original). We are all along for the journey of a story, to make an ending that catered to everyones choices, well it just wouldn't have been a 'real ending'. Sure i was invested to the point that i really was depressed when it was over, but totally amazed that i got so invested! :)

It probably sounds like i am knocking open world games, but i just think of them as two entirely different things. Just take Skyrim for instance, held my attention for a few hours and got bored. Morrowind/Oblivioni was a lot younger and probably more curious - but i still don't remember finishing either of them? I remember specific parts, like the dwarven mines, but i don't remember any urgency or importance to finish a quest. No real 'reason' to continue on?

So in summary:

Mass Effect 4

Create another kickass story with a specific protaganist (maybe not human though, as this has been done in the prev titles)

A believable and solid linear framework - i.e the world is believable, the missions and quests are believable and not just there for the sake of being there

Open world aspects -

exploration (i loved travelling in the mako, stopping on a hill top, and looking at a planets moons)

choosing squad mates

great squad and npc stories

allowing real death and dialogue related for npcs and squad

recorded voice for ALL characters

time and detail into the animation of emotions for characters

The closest game Mass effect comes to is the old Origin series Ultima. A universe again defined, that you are part of, but it focuses on what is 'outside' the character not pandering to the character i.e do this quest for loot or experience. The emphasize is what is going on around you in relation to your specific character. This is hard to nail when you have too many options. This is why Skyrim was such a drop for me - i couldn't get into the world. With Mass effect, sure you can define your character, but to a point - there is a story and you stick to it.

Well done Bioware and rock on for the next mass effect! :)

Open world games are fine.  Just don't give us too much to do without any real reason to do it.  Or, stated alternatively, don't give us nothing to do with every reason in the world to do it.  The latter leads to, "lolwtf?" and a whole lot of pedantic laughter.

I'll give you an example of a game that did neither.  SR3.  SR3 was an open world game that when you got bored of doing side missions you could give a main quest mission a go.  SR3 was no stranger to pedantic laughter, but it was designed to be that way, too.

abiogenisis has quite a lot of ideas for things that are really alien.

Probably a pain to animate, but totally worth it :P

I really liked the star map in Prometheus-

Reminds me of this art concept for MENext-

Maybe we can get an orchestral theme when we open our omni-starmap during exploration;)

As long as the star map is the only inspiration they take from Prometheus I'm fine with it.

^I hated that movie as well for a lot of reasons. Loved the visuals and soundtrack!. BW took inspiration from the movie Contact for the mass relays as well...

...but nothing more, so I think we should be spared an alien jesus or panspermia background story/quest.  :?

I think that Project: Corsair should be explored. There will be tons of opportunity for small and not so small gangs and merc groups to rise and cause trouble.

With the universe in disarray, and the known races more or less United, there is all the opportunity for a diverse crew to get into a lot of diverse situations.

Indeed, but the art direction sure was pretty, and it got the atmosphere's mystery right. Shame about the plot itself.

It's still better than either Alien 3 or Resurrection, though.

This.

The Mass Effect setting can stand for a major infusion of the non-humanoid aliens. I want to see more with aliens like the Hanar, the Elcor, the Rachni, etc. I loathe how the narrative tease us with their rich lore, but the gameplay treats them like slightly mobile background props. In my opinion, BioWare should invest the time and resources into fully animating and flushing out these non-humanoid aliens; especially since they can easily pull the human animations from DA:I or any other Frostbite game.

More than that, I would like to see these types of aliens become playable in ME:N's MP. Combat should no longer just be limited to those people that walk upright on two feet. I want to skitter along the battlefield as a Rachni Brood Warrior, or decimate my foes as an Elcor Siege Breaker.  B)

heres my opinion. forget fans opinions and do your own thing really

i say this because no matter what fans say they will never be happy

I agree with you here, I honestly want them to take there time and make the best game they can make. I mean yeah there is alot of things we want but overwhelming them shouldn't be the main agenda. I made a video about this exact topic and alot of people agree with my point of view. 100 views and counting.

/facepalm

Ya know?

Ya know?

Ya know?

About the only thing I can say to the guy that made the video that's helpful is this is the reason that I don't make videos.  I just keep on repeating the same things over and over again.  It's either uhhhhhh or ya know.   I've tried my damnedest to stop, I just can't.

So, please, stop that.  :)

One other thing :  I'll be more than willing to bet that the new job position opening on BioWare's website that just opened up is for the pre-release  footage that they're gonna show at E3.
