Here are the things I would want to see the most.
1. Humans: Humans are the ones playing this
game, so we should be present. A lot of people want to play as the protheans or during the rachni wars, and while that would be cool, I just don't think players could connect to the galaxy as well if their species is not represented. This means that the
next game should be a sequel. The first contact war is cool and all, but that should be a "Halo: Reach" type affair, a smaller scale side story and by all accounts a good
game, just not a proper numbered sequel.
2. Playable races: That being said, it gets boring being a human all the time. I really like being able to choose my character's origin in DA:O, and a similar system in a future
game would be awesome. Turian origin? You start on a military base on Manae, Quarian origin? Pirates attack
your fledgeling colony, etc. Such a system would add a ton of replay value and give you insight into the different cultures.
3. No more reapers (as enemies): Love it or hate it, ME3 brought an end to the reaper threat. They were taken care of one way or another, and ME4 should reflect that, whether everyone now glows green, or the galaxy is a little more rough around the edges since they didn't have reapers to help rebuild. This would by far be the toughest task a sequel would face, and while I'm all
for making Destroy canon, I know a lot of others are not.
Those are my opinions anyways. I'm not too peticular on the enemy, maybe different factions arise, maybe the leviathans return, or maybe Dr. Conrad Verner has hacked the Shepard Overlord, so long as the threat is engaging, I'll be happy.
