i disagree, they just use their canon options
rachni queen lives
krogans get cure
reapers destroyed
and if you don't choose these options then it happens anyway
like the rachni queen lives and become husks
udina becomes councillor
Shepard must survive suicide mission
You kill the batarians and get grounded regardless if you played arrival
issue resolved

1. Space battles
I want to actually take control of a ship and engage in space combat with enemy ships, and also have the ability to upgrade my ship's weapons, armor, etc.
2. More open-ended exploration.
It sucks that in ME3 I had little to no time to explore the galaxy. I want to see more planets groundside and visit other homeworlds. I also want a vehicle like the Hammerhead, not the Mako.
3. More gun mods
The gun mods in this game were okay but I still want more mods like suppressors, laser sights, and the ability to choose my colors regardless of the mod's level. Like if I want an Avenger with a Brick red color and orange lights I should be able to choose it without needing the mods to be at a certain level.
4. Raloi and Virtual Aliens
If you really aren't going to introduce them via DLC for ME3 then I want to see the Raloi and VA in the next ME.
5. Mini-games
Give me mini games like playing cards with my crew or at a bar like Afterlife or placing a bet on a sports event.
6. A sweet pad
Allow me to customize my cabin on my ship and also own a private residence on Omega or the Citadel. Each of two can be customized and my love interest will move in if I have one.
7. Transgaming
Give me an app on my iPhone where I can earn rewards like Credits or Resources in the actual game. Infiltrator and the Datapad touched on this subject but I want this idea more fleshed out. Give me something like running a Merc group which can sold out to others, and I would be able to earn credits to spend on my game. This would be awesome.
8. Sequel
No prequels please. And be able to import my decisions like Synthesis, Peace between the Geth and Quarians, or letting the Rachni live on Noveria into the next game.
9. Leviathans and Yahg
Since the Reapers are now finished I want the Leviathans and Yahg to step up and become the next villians.
10. More Occupations
Allow me to do more then just run around shooting people. Allow me to own a company and invest in different research products; or a night club for people hang out; or manufacture different hardware products to be sold across the galaxy.

But I would really appreciate to see more integration of the galaxy in the actual gameplay of the next Mass Effect game. Not just in terms of more visitable systems or planets. I like the idea of having the opportunity to explore the galaxy by myself. Something similar to the experience in the game "Freelancer".

Please, bring back inventory, like in ME1, and make loot more enjoyable - a lot of armors and weapons, that player can equip or sell in shops. In ME3 loot was boring, and upgrading weapons with credits was bad. Bring back economy, so player would be able to sell the loot he doesn't use.
I second this. I missed the more overt rpg elements while playing ME2 and ME3.

I personally would love nothing more than to be able to play as either an asari or male quarian. One of the main reasons ME3 MP was great was because we got to play as the other species; made it all the more fun
I also agree with the comments suggesting to make the new mass effect game go back to a more rpg style. Many choices both in dialogue and missions, loot, more detailed leveling up system, that sort of thing. Also have characters like Cortez and Traynor from the beginning, please?
I'm not suggesting when the story should take place as I'm not sure what would work better myself. I think I'd be happy as long as the things I mentioned above happen XD.

No, Shepard's story as a Player Character is over, yes, but over? No. The ending was incomplete. First Matrix Ending. Breath scene. There was a reason they were adamant about not changing the endings. It has to start there, and this is going to ****** off a bunch of people.
* It is immediately after the Crucible fired. You're picking up a transponder signal from the Citadel. It's Shepard's. However, Shepard is in a coma but there's something wrong. There's a signal into Shepard's brain from another part of the Citadel. This is the AI itself. Shepard is lost in a virtual world.
When you find Shepard, the game pauses and goes to a character creation screen, and you make your character, and since there are pretty much different races on earth pick one, and your class, then ...
* You have to find the origin of the signal, go into that world (like the Geth Consensus except a lot more sophisticated and lifelike) and find him and get him out. Then when both of you are out, destroy the thing. It is the remnants of the AI that was controlling the reapers.
* Maybe while you're in there you find the plans on how to build mass relays and how they work? It would really help with the rebuilding. Have some way of whoever is monitoring you get this info. Okay it's an ass pull, but hey, there have been a number of them in the story already. Eezo is space magic. FTL is space magic. Mind melding was done in Star Trek. Phasers are space magic. Synthesis is space magic. Control is space magic. Destroy is space magic. I'm entitled to an ass pull.
After your first mission there's a cutscene that finishes this and Shepard alive and taken to a hospital for recovery. There will be news reports periodically about it, eventually retirement. You get your first accolades, and you get assigned with a team. The galaxy is wide open right now. Lots of rebuilding.
New Batarian government being formed. Old Hegemony faction doesn't want to give up power. You and your team get to find out what is going on. Aid rebels against Hegemony. No one likes the Hegemony, not even the Terminus Batarians. They used to be a proud people, a noble people. Let's see what they were like.
NOTE: You are NOT playing Shepard anymore.

Disagree. In a game like Dragon Age or something, this is important. In a TPS RPG hybrid like ME I think it should stick to the system ME3 built but improve upon. No mess like ME1 and not enough stuff like ME2. ME3 was pretty good, though there could of been more customization.Tumak wrote...

I would disagree. I would prefer a new trilogy without shepard. Shepard isn't needed in Mass Effect, he should be the very person that represents the orginal trilogy.darthoptimus003 wrote...

krogans- Depending on the time period, Krogans can still exist but slowly be dying off (or someone is trying to cure them, like how mordin seems to be after not doing it the first time around)
Rachni- We barely saw them anyways, they could just not appear.
Reapers- probably going to be dead if destroy is picked as canon, or not. Who knows.
As for the 4 choices,
Rachni queen doesn't live and become a husk, they make a fake one if I remember.
Udina, yeah he becomes councillor anyways.
That's a given
And Shepard doesn't kill batarians and get grounded for that if he doesn't play arrival, he just gets grounded for working for cerberus.
A sequal can work very well and choices can still matter, just one of the major final choices *might* be needed to be canon for it to work.

I agree, but I'd like to see Shepard's story get some proper closure. It didn't in 3. Kind of like a passing of the torch mission and once it's done Shepard is retired to wherever forever. Shepard is a NPC in the mission. I'd like to see a new team, new ship, and keep a few of the old people around.
* have Tali as Quarian councilor.
* Garrus as vice-Primarch -- yes it was hinted he was that high up the food chain.
* Wrex in charge on Tuchanka with Grunt as his second.
* Liara back as an information broker on Illium -- I think only Barla Von didn't know she was Shadow Broker.
Not much was done with Kasumi. I wouldn't mind seeing Kasumi as part of the new team. Everyone else new.

SAY NO TO A CANON STORYLINE
It's possible to integrate all 3 endings into ME4 if the main antagonist or plot point is something focused around something that is universal, such as new species coming through previously inactive relays, or even the Citadel relay if it links to another Galaxy.
*If its set somewhere between 20-50 years after the Reaper wars make Joker an Admiral,
* In Synthesis Storyline give Joker and EDI a child
* In Destroy have the Leviathans play a big role
* In Control make Shepard the villain becoming indoctrinated by his own form
*Also alter some squadmates depending on who your LI was in ME3, for example Garrus and Tali have a child who becomes a squadmate, however if you romanced either one of them that character's species changes.
* Keep Liara as a squadmate, given Asari live for thousands of years it would be nice to have at least some connection to the original trilogy, also she can't be romanced if she was in ME3.
The affects of weather or not species are still in the Galaxy play vital roles, for example if the Genophage wasn't cured the Yahg become a threat, if it was a separatist Krogan movement takes the Yahg's place,
You can only access Rannoch if you chose Control or Synthesis and only if you united the Quarians and the Geth, any other options and Rannoch will be inaccessible since the Quarians lack the resources and knowledge to repair the relays, whilst the Geth can repair them but will need the wisdom of the creators to understand why it should be repaired.
If the Racini survived they'll become a member of the council.
If you saved the Hanar homeworld in the fetch quest in ME3, there will be hanar around hub worlds, if you didn't they'll be extinct.
If you evacuated Elcor off Daccuna you'll see them in around hub worlds, if you didn't they'll be extinct.
The Drell will be extinct

If what you said happens due to possible choices (Like them being alive) then that would be great to seem them. Shepard being heard/talked about would be nice for those who picked destroy and lived. I just don't want to see him again as the main guy. I had fun, but his story lasted 3 games, a new enemy and protagonist is needed.sH0tgUn jUliA wrote...

And again about Shepard in destroy, anything that they do in ME4 to help the fans be happy(as long as it's not IT) is fine by me.
Just want a great new ME trilogy.

2. Not locked in to human. (i wanna be KROGAN! or Asari......or Drell........basically anything but Human........although considering its me, this isn't news to anyone)
3. i suppose some insanely Skilled, Smart Pirate or Psycho starts gathering a army to build some galactic Empire consisting of those who share his ideals (multi species to make it interesting).
4. Recruiting a army (and being able to actually USE them)
5. Steve Blum as male Main Character's voice. (there are other ones that'd do, but this is the one i want to see.)
6. A Redneck Biotic as a comic relief character.......just because of how Jarring it would be (it would amuse me)
7. Weapon Creation (choose barrel, material, gun type, appearance, color, etc. While being able to unlock parts as you do missions or buy them.)
8. Certain Upgrades having Visual changes.
9. More RPG, less Shooter. (Personal Preference here, so this doesn't matter)

Shepards position in the universe of Mass Effect if mentioned is esentally following suit of past PC's in Bioware games(or any RPG game for that matter..) and allows for the hero of another story, this new story to take place.
As a new story, i feel like the addition of "4" in the tittle should be skipped....its something that just seems odd and is a pet peeve of mine for sequels.
James Bond's dont have numbers, and Halo 4's title weirds me out. strangely i dont feel so othered by the way the Star Wars films are named? like i said it's weird.
I'm open to the idea's of prequels or sequels. First Contact war could be cool, but i think the excitement of playing that conflict would be lessened, mostly because it was such a "small" skirmish and much of the events/history have already been explained.
could it be possible to have a previous Cycle's history and conflicts (prior to their own conflict with the reapers?) ?
Post reaper war stuff would be cool too. the tricky part there however would be factoring in the many different outcomes for the state of the galaxy.
although Dragon Age had a clever way of sidestepping and including the various continuity challenges (DA 2 really felt like the same world that my warden lived in. and i really was seeing it from another perspective.)
So i do think Bioware is capable of doing a Post Reaper conflict story, which i think is greatly helped by the Star-Gazer credit scene. Definitely informs that there are more things to be seen and done in the ME universe.

Having said that, playing from a "Default" Character greatly enhances your experience for playing a character you have had from the beggining. I have had to do without my save files sometimes and the world of default shep/warden is no less interesting than one i spent more hours in.
If only for tradition than anything else really, because fan-bases seem to have gotten reeeeaaaally fractured over the Canon decisions for KOTOR's Revan and KOTOR 2's Exile, and players dont like the idea of being told their decisions were not the "truthful" way to play.
(of course Star Wars is it's own Canon that had to be followed by nature of it needing to match to the films, so im cool with that.)
Gotta love the compromises made there though in Default settings. very moderative, which means its a world without a staunch light/dark or renegade/paragon feel.
very ambiguous.
but please Bioware, If Shepards story is to affect the new one in anyway as a fan i would love to see how much (or how little) my own Shepard's contributed.
