So there it is, a public invitation to voice what we as fans want for the next Mass effect game. As it's a new game there are no restrictions to what can happen, it could be any time frame, Prothean's against the Reapers or decades after the reaper conflict and beyond. Seeing as there are planned future story dlc's for mass effect 3 id say we can rule out anything to do with Shepard and the characters we know at the moment thoguh.

So what do you want? I think something to do with the Prothean time but playing as the races that were enslaved and taken over by the Protheans, so Javik and his race are the bas guys.

But that's just me, what about you lot?

Why start now? Damage is done.

In all honesty, if Shepard isn't in it I won't be looking twice at it. I am still very disappointed with the way things turned out for my Shepard and dammit she deserves to fight on - as a human being - alive - and non-reaperized! The ME franchise is dead to me if I cannot continue her fight. I don't care what you come up with, some larger threat than the reapers/leviathans, whatever as long as its interesting and fits within the lore of the ME universe. Hell, I would play my Shepard until I'm eighty as long as the story and galaxy continue to expand and stay engaging. Start another run in another trilogy with another character? Meh - no thanks. And please, for the love of all that is sacred - NO MMO!

That is all.

I'm not going to touch upon plot ideas much. I feel that's better handled behind doors, as it were.

Suggestions/advice:

• Prequels are a bad idea. Once again, the conclusion of ME3 invalidates all stories before it. Do not go this route without adding (not replacing) a whole new ending for ME3. (But you should do that regardless if you expect success in another Mass Effect game.)

• Sequel is the way to go. If you're not sure where you're going with it because of your ending in ME3, then that needs to be addressed.

• We have a ton of events that have occurred over the course of three games. It'd be a shame to abandon that altogether. Some of those changes were interesting. For example: some people are interested in seeing the effects of the Krogan, based on curing them or not, and their rise in the galaxy. (Not to centralise them as the story, but to have an impact on some of the outcome.) That's a big event. The rachni is another.

• Less auto-dialogue, better interaction, and more consistent. (Why wasn't Chakwas given any real dialogue apart from three lines? It's always awkward, post-mission, when they have absolutely nothing to say.)

• You've done a good mix of cinematic storyboarding, involving the characters directly in what comes to pass and making them feel a part of what's going on. (Spacebar to jump, mouse to grab a hand, suddenly cutscene to being pulled out of an elevator shaft, etc.) Keep this up. It's effective.

• I'm less and less sold on the idea of playing aliens as our primary character. If it's convincing enough, I don't mind. But human is a strong default and very easy to identify with -- don't throw that away arbitrarily. If you go the alien route, give us something to empathise with and understand.

My personal interest? I honestly want another game about Shepard.

Oh Boy. I have lots of Ideas. These are teh features I want though. I'm not into MMo's or RTS, Mass Effect should be kept a RPG/Shooter.

0. Playing ANY SPECIES, ANY GENDER not just human.

1. A Storyline.

1a. Exploring everything, maybe Travel between Galaxies.

2. Vehicles. Sea, Air, Land, Water and Space vehicles.

3. Romancing.

4. Squads and crew members.

5. RPG Elelements.

6. A Survival, Horde and firefight mode and a Simulator of some type much better than Multiplayer and Pinnacle Station.

7. Side Missions.

8. World Hubs and Locations, your very own apartment.

9. Different backgrounds and Options for each character and species.

10. Make the game a Singleplayer Game, maybe add CoOP/MP but AD OFFLINE MODE!!!!

I think that's about it for now. I have many more ideas.

I'm thinking Krogan Rebellions or the Rachni War. It would be great to play as Krogans or as the Turians & Salarians against them.

Set it immediately after ME3 with synthesis canonized. No prequel or "500 years later" bull****.

Isn't synthesys a bull****?

Yes, but its the most interesting flavor of it they piled on our plates.

Alright, a more honest assessment of where I think they ought to go, if they really want to do this.

Whole new protagonist (obviously), whole new cast of characters, a more personal story set concurrently with the Shepard trilogy. That's the best way to give people more of the Mass Effect they're familiar with, without resorting to hokey prequels, or a sequel set in the far distant future.

There are plenty of ways to tell an engrossing story that don't have to involve galactic calamity. Shepard did a lot of exposition and exploration; that's great, but how about showing us what it's like for the 99% to actually live in Mass Effect's galaxy. There should of course be some elements of exploration and whatnot, but I'd really like to stop for a moment, and get a closer view of things.

The main point: clean break with the trilogy, but complete continuity with the players' sense of familiarity. There should be no save game importing (clarified: no saves from Shepard), and no character cameos. The galaxy is a big place, it's already too weird to see Shepard repeatedly encountering the same dozen or so minor characters in a galaxy populated by unknown trillions.

You have already done enough damage to my favorite game series.

And if you ignore this, and make one, I promise you, I will not buy it. Do not waste your time. Make another game. Any other game. Mass Effect has told it's story. Leave it alone.

Please, Casey, do not make another Mass Effect.

Meh.

So, I finished mass effect 3 this morning. Oh my god, did I cry inside. Thank you very much Bioware for creating an awesome video game. . no an awesome story. I hope that Mass effect 4 is just as great. Even though you say Shepherds story is done. Please let him/her make an appearance in the new one. (If they lived through the last choice.)

Anyways. . Like most people said here. A prequel might be nice.

HOnestly. The coherence of the series was destroyed at ME3.

Leave it be. The franchise cant be salvaged. And, at least for me, prequels are not attractive in this case. Unfortunelly, after ME3 destroyed the story, i dont see much future to the franchise. hnestly casey. If u wanna work on another ME game, just DONT. Make a new franchise. This one has sinked already.

for that u can just play MP.

I dont see the point in making a prequel of a game based on choices that will afect the future.

Mass Effect: Corsair

Begginning

Citadel during Sovereign's attack. Marines, one of them new hero, watching salvation/sacrifice of Destiny ascencion in the bar. Then broadcasting about geth on the board and marines are send to evacuate Udina. After successful, but bloody rescue operation is our hero transfered to Corsair program and get his own ship.

Plot

What about hunting down batarian slaver organization? No need to save galaxy everytime and as one cop once said: "Crime of one murderer can be more terrifying then whole Third reich, when you saw it on your own eyes." And maybe it can evolve in something bigger during time, who knows...

Timeframe

Shepard's two dead years

Squadmates

Completely new with one exception. One of first Corsair's missions would be rescue operation - one of escape pod from Normandy was taken by batarian before Alliance ships arrived. And inside was Virmire survivor. His/her appearance in Corsair's crew would nicely tied both series and also give more reasons why VS will become Spectre in ME3.

And what is the most important - some of Shepard choices would matter here.

Well and this should be enough for this little creative excercise... Posted Image

I think any Mass Effect game needs to start completely fresh, that way there is a clean break between the previous issues with all three games and any future title.

Avoid talking about the game as much as possible before the game has gone gold and if you are going to talk about the game avoid using specifics for that way people can't develop any preconceived expectations of the game before its being released and try to avoid major leaks of the game. The biggest problem with Mass Effect 3 is that with all the Twitter information and interviews people had an expectation of the game that would never be possible, add in the leaks by Microsoft and there is a huge problem.

Basically with they can cross Mass Effect with Firefly they should do that.

You should still have your own ship and a squad/crew to travel with.

This is what I want.

Set a few hundred years in the future. Or so? Mainly because I'd like to see it in a bit of a post-apocalyptic setting.

The Reapers ravaged the galaxy. In the EC we saw them rebuilding, etc. It was all very shiny, happy ppl. But we all know the reality of the situation would be far more dire.

Like after the fall of the Roman Empire. A dark age. Warlords wrangling for power. Gangs. Militia. Few resources readily available. Which would fit nicely with the idea of a PC being some type of smuggler, or pirate-y.

I'd like to not be attached at the hip to an Alliance, or even Cerberus. Or variations on those groups. It should be our own thing. We've got to find valuable resources that take us all over the place. Unexplored worlds. Undiscovered cultures. Especially the more primitive ones that weren't threatened by the Reapers this cycle.

We've got to deal with those warlords, etc. Maybe even watch out for the limited authority there is....which will be mind blowingly corrupt, I'm sure. I could see some type of Feudal system taking root. I could see a huge divide between the haves and have nots.

You know, someone's always gonna horde and find a way. Two completely diff. societies living side by side, and the turmoil that creates.

Oh, and I definitely see weird cults springing. Even one about Shepard. Cults always spring up.

Set us loose on the galaxy. A post apocalyptic galaxy.  I want to see the contrast to the ME universe I knew before.

Either way, I'm glad to hear that you all are thinking about the future. It's time to move onward and upward. This is good news to me. It's time to go Back to the Future!

I can tell him what I don't want.

No SP dependent on MP
No MMO
No Prequels
No FPS
No predefined protagonist
No auto-dialogue (or as little as possible)

As for what I do want, just take your time, please and don't rush it.

I want a prequel - the first contact war from the point of view of both a human alliance soldier and from a turian soldier... the morning war from the point of view of both a quarian and a geth... the krogan rebellions... etc. there is just so much potential in the history of the mass effect universe that I would LOVE to see in a game.

I'd like to be a Spectre, an actual Spectre with morally grey behind the scenes missions. I don't care if there is no 'main plot' or 'save the galaxy goal' I think that would be neat having a more personal story while still having impact on the galactic community. It also leaves open lots of room for branching story paths and what not.

The only acceptable prequel would be you playing as a human during the time when mankind discovers the mass relays. That would be pretty cool.

Probably won't happen though. Just give us something set a long time into the future, make it more of a role playing game and less of an action shooter and we'll be happy. If player picked control, the plot could be a war over which species takes control of the reapers. if synthesis then maybe the orgasynthetic species start to be discovered by organic species from other galaxies who start a war... and if destruction, other races from a nearby galaxy come and start ****.. or something. idk. these could be the three different backgrounds for the characters... and then of course let us pick whatever citadel race we want. asari, salarian, human, turian, krogan, etc. along the way we have to build a team... yada yada.

Alpha Protocol meets Mass Effect?

I've heard much worse ideas. A cloak-and-dagger spy thriller set in the Mass Effect universe could actually be really awesome.

It would also strike a chord with the trilogy's high points: chasing Saren around the galaxy trying to figure out what's going on, the entire arc of Lair of the Shadow Broker, many of the character vignettes from ME2.

With the way ME 3 ended it is pretty hard to make a sequel unless you make the destroy ending canon because Shep is a all knowing galactic guardian or the dna of all life and synthetics are changed to be the same.

-If destroy is made canon I would love to see a game were you work for C-sec trying to stop a threat to the council or a game where you're a merc trying to get back at a past employer who wronged you and you stumble onto a vast conspiracy that has galactic implications. Both of those ideas could easily have the renegade and paragon system in them.

-Another idea is you could be a marine that fights with a young David Anderson in many events leading to the end of the First Contact War.

It is the most logical choice, because:

1. If they chose form of inquel, fans would demand return of some old sqadmate. But Garrus became Archangel, Liara is plotting against Shadowbroker, Wrex is uniting tribes on Tuchanka (ot lying dead on Virmire) and Tali returned to Fleet.

2. It would be one of most visible results of Shepard choices in original series.

3. VS is offering the most "empty" history from all original squadmates. And TIM was suggesting at the beginning of ME2, that VS participated in some secret missions.

It has nothing to do with my personal taste, it's simply most fitting solution.

Call it "Mass Effect: Spectre". Human, Salarian and Asari are your starting race options. Each has an 'Act One' on their respective homeworlds. After they prove themselves, they are taken to the Council for Spectre testing and training.

Make it incredibly RPG'ish. Have different quest lines based on your species. Have the overarching plot be a bit more sneaky and have your character put in less of a spotlight. Start with a small 2-person ship and as you progress and gain allies, you get bigger ships.

Different companions for each race with a few of the same ones running through each Species Arc.

For some reason I really love this idea... Good job, sounds interesting
