My idea:

There are lots of unopened Mass Effect Relays right? What if during the initial exploration of the Relay network, a Human ship reactivates a dormant Mass Effect Relay and goes through, however the Turian's subsequently close the Relay fearing what could be on the other side. The Human ship is never heard from or seen again because they have entered a section of the Mass Relay Network that is completely cut off and isolated from the rest of the Galaxy. This would allow you to have a Human protagonist and a bunch of new alien races in an unfamiliar setting.  It could be kind of like Farscape, with the protaginist thrown into a completely unfamiliar setting and unexplored region of space.  There would still be Mass Effect Relays, and biotics, but it would allow the creative team to go wild in imagining a very different Galaxy to the one we are familiar with.

I... don't exactly see how they're going to do an ME4, a sequel runs the risk of, well, the simple fact that the end of ME3 with Destroy, Control and Synthesis is too varied and means too much to make a solid canon to go off of, not unless they choose for us, which would, let's face it, ****** a LOT of people off.

1)Mass Effect prequel would be silly, because you know how it ends. Any conflict you have in the game would pale in comparison to the conflict that the Reapers presented, and I am sure knowing Bioware there would be a few plot holes would make you wonder why you couldn't have done thise or that against the Reapers. Beside prequels are earned by creative people. George Lucas earned the right to do prequels. Most horror movie creators have not earned it, and looks like an ego trip when they do prequels.
2)A sequel. The galaxy is changed. Each of those changes are different, and it would be even bigger injustice to gloss over the decisions and move on. Lol, you can reduce Mass Effect 4 to just one location, but that would be a major fail on so many different levels.

Mr. Hudson, here's an idea: Mass Effect 3.

That's the game I want!

I hope he's only listening to the "fans" so he knows what not to put in the game.

I'm 100% serious.

What exactly is the point of giving him ideas anyways? He didn't listen with Mass Effect 2 and he didn't listen with Mass Effect 3, what makes anyone think that he will listen this time. As far as I'm concerned Mass Effect 4 will probably need to be the greatest game ever to get me interested which I doubt will happen due to BioWare's current record.

The game should be set in the distant future after the reaper threat, where details on it are severely lacking so no choices players made are deemed irrelevant. Keep the classic alien races we know and love, but also add some new ones. Smaller scale story, more RPG style like ME1 and 2; with lots of interesting characters and character interaction. I personally think a cop/spectre game would be cool.

Also like others have said, avoid the hero's journey element. Maybe make the main character more of an average guy/girl, makes him/her more relatable that way.

John Grissom VS Red Sand terrorist group. Then there's no need for awful space magic and we can still have sci-fi / space opera fun.

A prequel, for sure. Maybe set in the early to mid 2160s when humans are just entering the scene. The biggest thing I'd like to see is being able to choose your race, not just gender. Your character's race should also influence your character's origin and story (i.e. a Quarian starts on the Flotilla and goes on Pilgrimage). People should also have different attitudes and first impressions about your character based on your character's race. The variety in classes is perfect and should be kept.

We should also have more freedom in choosing our character's path and where the story goes. Does my young Quarian become a merc, join the Blue Suns, join C-Sec, work for a government or work for a criminal organization? Does he/she eventually betray them to help someone else?

We should also get to pick our own ship (shuttle, frigate or cruiser) and crew (permanent or temporary). It would be really neat to recruit random characters, too. Say we come across an Asari commando at the bar on Illium and can recruit her for one, two or as many missions as we'd like, even invite her to join the crew. Smaller side missions from NPCs could be more abundant, too.

Above all, keep a focus on developed, memorable characters and their stories. A lot of exploration in the first game was taken out in the second and even more in the third, especially when it came to hub worlds. It would be great to have exploration and many hub worlds reintroduced. Combine all of this and you've got the perfect start to a new chapter of Mass Effect.

Oh, and if Mordin is in the game, bring back Michael Beattie! Mordin just wasn't the same character, and not very funny, in ME3.

I can not get into how, but I would love to see you guys work a sequel, assuming you guys get to my post, I am hoping for

-A few major canon decisions, Such as the ending, and some things that were shown in the EC

-A few things we import, Shepards love interest, Shep's attitude, Maybe even the life/death of a Squaddie.

-The scene at the end of the credits, that child as new Main Character.

-New MC grew up hearing stories about Shep, referencing the original trilogy, for the newer players.

-A new galaxy to explore.

-Slightly evolved versions of our current races.

-A new galactic threat that may be even scarier than the Repears

-Javik/Aria Love child as new main Asari Squadmate.

-A vorcha test subject as a squadmate (vorcha love)

Kind of hard to see what they are going to do next. You already had galaxy purging super squids. Short of Galactus, I doubt anything can live up to the hype of the first 3 games.

The answer to that is obvious I would say: Don't. Make a good story on a smaller scale. It is possible you know. The hype can be just as big without massive squids and Galactus.

No prequels, no MMO, no pure FPS/action/action-adventure game.

I really want another ME RPG trilogy, set AFTER ME3 and with a new hero we can customize like Shep and transfer throughout 3 games.

Plz Bioware!

I agree with the above poster. I loved the gameplay in ME3 - continue to build on that for gameplay.

For story and what not, use completely new characters, maybe a new galaxy, change the focus from saving the universe to something - maybe make the new hero a Han Solo type character on the run from the Alliance or something. Increased choice and consequence.

Avoid the Hero's Journey - I don't care if you include other aspects commonly found in stories, but BioWare have heavily relied on the Hero's Journey in almost all of their games.

Prequel's are a bad idea and never turn out as well as you hoped - just look at the Star Wars Prequel Trilogy, we know too much of what happened before for a prequel to be a compelling game.

My thoughts for now anyways.

^^ ALL of this! {smilie} {smilie}

This + As long as we continue to uncover something new, surprising, and perhaps shocking about the universe. That's why I don't like the idea of a prequel, which be much more "seeing how this all played out," which is fine, but it doesn't include the real discovery/mystery/consequence draw that exists in the trilogy.

Well I would want either 1 of 2 things:

The one I least want (but still like the idea a lot) would be a space sim game of sorts. Basically something either during the ME trilogy or after, but you are a pilot (of any council race) and you start in fighters and bombers, and keep on ranking up through the story until you can reach a super high rank where you can command dreadnoughts. THAT WOULD BE AWESOME. I mean c'mon, commanding a gun that fires more powerful ordanance than little boy every 5 seconds? But it would also be sweet to pilot smaller ships like fighters or frigates....
Basically some awesome spacship game.

2nd game posibility (that I would want more) would be after ME3. Not as Shepard (like they said, the next game won't be about him), but still story based. Also, don't show Shepard on screen. Either mention him or put the game after he dies. It would just be too weird to see someone that you were able to play as, but not anymore.
The problem is though, of course, that it's after ME3. No spoilers, but it's just that there are just so many different ways that the galaxy could be like then.
But definitly not a game before the trilogy. I want the story to advance, not go backwards.
What you could do though, is put flashbacks to before the trilogy, while the main story is after the trilogy. That would still be OK.

I'll second that.

I'd like to see a "Final Fantasy" of the series based on how the last one ended.  Keep some basic elements (races, some tech, relays), but wipe the overall story.  Oh... and 100% less catalyst would be nice.

How about a choice between protagonists of different races that are fighting to defend the glaxy as it rebuilds after the best destroy ending of ME3?

Either let this poor horse die in peace and stop beating it to death or take a risk and do a reboot / alternate universe(Multiverse) of the universe/trilogy and pray that it ends up being like Nolan's Batman trilogy i.e. a success. Otherwise just let Mass Effect rest in peace, it deserves respect and dignity after everything that has happened. No sequels or prequels.

Make it thousands of years after the end of ME3. You have to go bigger and more spectacular, and bring in a military conflict between our galaxy and Andromeda.

I'd like to be able to choose from different species with full customization options.

I'd like co-op.

Fully voiced! NO silent protagonist.
