Which is the unfortunate way of preserving it even in it's current state - broken, damaged by utter stupidity of ME3.
Just let it die. I bet EA has more ideas of making money. Let it go. Make big money on something else. Make terrible action games that do not fit in any game-classification cause it has to have "broader appeal" elsewhere, on other base.
Go away and...
Destroy something else.

- More in-depth character customization. Offer new races and appearance options. I'd like to also see more options as far as abilities: perhaps talent trees, or prestige classes, weapon specializations (any class should be able to use any gun, but some should have bonuses to certain weapons based on selected abilities)
- Non-human player characters. The Mass Effect universe has a lot of races in it, I should be able to play as some of them. Turians, asari, krogan, and quarians would all be great options here.
- Scale back the scope of the game, and pay more attention to individual stories. You shouldn't try to out-do the Reapers in terms of galactic threat. It would be cool to play something that pits you against, say, a big-time eezo smuggler versus galaxy-destroying threats.
- An option to opt-out of minigames. I sunk a lot of hours into harvesting planets in my first playthrough of Mass Effect 2. It's not an experience I'd care to repeat. Hacking minigames were okay, I guess, but they were still more of a drag and less of a 'oh, this is neat!' for me.
- A home base that's easy to navigate. Mass Effect 3's Normandy almost had it right, but that security checkpoint next to the war room was ridiculous.
- "Commander, you have unread messages at your private terminal." Please do away with this. I'd like to see that be something of a more subtle reminder - perhaps a holo ticker that pops up above your terminal when you have unread messages.
- On that note as well, make your player character actually able to reply to messages. Even if it's a pre-scripted dialog that does nothing for the game as a whole beyond netting you a few Paragon/Renegade points, it helps to connect with your character.
I think those are my big ideas. I can't wait for the next installment!

1. Big return of the Mako or another space vehicle. That was awsome, it's one of the very first things in ME universe that bought me instantly and I bought collector's edition of the game. I love the game from the get-go becouse of the feeling. Pioneer, Star Strek romance, going beyong borders, sun fighting through strange, even green sky... I wanna feel like a small human in a big and strange universe again, give me the soul of the great game back!
I really don't wanna play like yet again big guy with muscles and ego or a lady fighitng the stereotypes or something. I really, and I mean REALLY, think that ME universe is one of the best crafted in the entire XX-XXI century in terms of sci-fi. And sci-fi ALWAYS gives the human race, this squishy (hi Shale), funny creatures, opportunity to learn something about themselves. Simply by looking at the deep of the universe. You can't do it only by shotting anything that moves or talking the talk. First ME was truly MAGICAL because of the Mako, because of stepping out on part of the ground that was untoched by human feet before. Do you remember this moon (sorry, can't remember) that we were on in the first or the second DLC for ME? Those with stations and mine fields? Do you remember open, big, and black universe looking down on us? I just remember those times, this big WOW.
I want, I demand more space-romance in ME4. Humans isn't new in the galaxy anymore, they got spectre, hell maybe even two. But universe is damn big and I wanna feel it.
2. RPG mechanics in terms of inventory, consumables, etc. ME2 was poor, number of stuff to collect, to shoot from, to wear wasn't impresive. ME3 is a comeback but let's don't delude ourselves - it's because of the multiplayer. In ME4 I want to feel the great mechanics again and I wanna make some choices too - biotic force or meele strenght? Number of guns or just melee? Bigger clips or firepower? Multi mechanics from ME3 is needed in my opinion in singleplayer. And it would be fun to have loadouts too, like in Halo 4 or CoD series. Both in single and multiplayer.
3. Sorry for not being friendly here, but stop promote gay/lesbian romance. I have friends that are gay and bisexual, but this isn't funny in a game. I don't wanna hear about a husband from a guy. Get rid of those things, or at least put it to rest in the corner. People are changing, but not everyone. I don't want it to spoil the game
4. Don't use resources to make idiotic characters, like Vega. ME is rich, is mature and doesn't need plastic, empty and shallow characters. And there is vast areas for humor in a game without lowering yourself to this kind of level.
5. Think closely about new races and their potentials. If you wanna introduce to us some new sentient beings just to kill them almost instantly (Batarians) it could be fun... but not always. Respect your ideas and don't throw away a potential to make with those races something maybe big in the future (ME5, 6, etc).
6. If you make promises... then follow them, damn it! I would personally like to see the ability to load my save from ME4 to ME4 and ME6 and really feel the difference in the end of the second-maybe trilogy. I loved the basic ending of ME3 - it was absolutely brilliant (yeah, yeah, shoot me internet trolls). But even I have to admit - there is a difference about what you told us when ME1 was launched and in 2012, when we played ME3. Never again!
7. Options to play as non-human race. Yeah yeah, I think you have some plans for Vega (damn it) or you wanna create someone new. But ME universe is so reach! I'm tired to always see the point of view of fellow human. I wanna think and feel different! Make me a Volus, a Turian, introduce some new race, bake a rich background and throw this on me! I wanna build my assault party as I see fit, but why oh why should I still listen to this new-in-space-human-race? Booooring!
8. Make the main plot of ME4 not so obvious to us. Maybe we are some new spectre, maybe just some space-machanic (Dead Space... mechanic... riiiiight) that fips over some new and big space drama, but we don't see it right away? From the get go, ME1 told us that something big is going on. ME4 should tell us very little at first, but explode in the middle and leave us hanging at the end of the game. Just to wait for ME5.
9. Brand new and not so repetetive multiplayer like in ME3. Horde mode from Gears of War is fun, still even in ME3 but... emmm... it's 2012. Multiplayer MODES anyone?
10. Please... damn... not... so...much... bugs.... like in ME3 multiplayer and cheap PC porting, like ME2. Over and out.

1. I want more freedom in the galaxy. Like spaceship fighting, discovering and exploring new worlds, xenophilic loving and more choices that will deal greater consequences. Oh, and bar fights.
2. A whole different profession. The story of a soldier has been made, let's now try and explore the life of a mercenary/bounty hunter. Those type of profession has more freedom than a soldier does.
3. A more evolved interactions/relationships with the characters.
4. Expand the crew! Preferably with a rugged male Batarian with scars and a professional female Turian (thanks to the Omega-DLC, I want another Nyreen!).
5. Good story. Just double check your stories just in case it doesn't share the same "consequences" as the ME3's ending(s).
6. And of course, more new aliens! And no near-humans, please. Those are boring and uncreative as hell, we want unique and creativity.

Perhaps if they where bold to go beyond the standards of today's games for SP and MP. Do something unexpected and go out side the box. I'd like to see a MP system similar to Neverwinter nights. A quasi/mini mmo with social areas, but the storymode/quests/missions can only have up to 4 players. "What about dialogue?" Some may ask. Something akin to what SWTOR did for flashpoints. IMHO, one of the best parts in that game was the first flashpoints for each side.

If not, please set the game during Shepard's time line because how the future works is too up in the air. It would be great to play as a marginal figure with a more personal rather than epic story. It would be very interesting to play as another race as well.
Please just make the game very character and story driven. I have no problem with multiplayer being tacked on as an extra a la ME3 but don't make it a major thing.

Much, much less focus on a military or war theme, and ideally different gameplay elements that don't depend on combat all the time. Plenty of characterisation, exploring the universe, conversations, a character who isn't as tirelessly heroic as Shepard.
I'd really like a return to that ME1 sense of exploring the universe, with the retro sci-fi art style and aesthetic, it was fantastic.
(something just after First Contact would be interesting, in terms of exploring humanity's first steps into the galaxy and the impact our presence is having on the Council and existing structures)

I'd also like:
- Benefits and penalties from species (if there are multiple playable species)
- Benefits and penalties from backgrounds
- The return of ME 1's plantary exploration. Decrease the number of planets, increase the content on each planet and definitely decrease the amount of mountains on the planets
- MOAR CITADEL! MOAR OMEGA! Combine the Citadel from all three games: that's how much content the Citadel and Omega should each get.
- More non-combat centric missions
- Non-combat abilities
- More non-power class abilities
- Different damage types (fire, electric, cold, piercing, blunt, slashing, biotic) AND corresponding damage resistances AND powers, abilities and gear that improve said damage-types and/or resistances
- The return of different types of omni-tools and biotic amps. They could boost tech and/or biotics, and a new item could boost combat abilities
- Gear that improves specific powers and abilities i.e. a bio-amp that improves Throw's force or a.o.e. or an omni-tool that increases Cloak's duration
- Unique/"Named" gear and weapons.
- Hidden named bosses like Gaxkang from DA:O
- Crafting. I have no idea how it would work, but the ability to make weapons, armour pieces and weapon mods would be cool.
- Different types of consumables like medi-gel that increases biotic resistance instead of healing (bio-gel), or disposable shields that give a short-term shield boost, or one time use omni-tool programs that mimic tech powers

All the while you could wrap that in a beautiful storyline. That system would allow all kinds of subplots, small questlines, and plenty of deep characters, villans, and heroes to meet.

-The scene at the end of the credits, that child I would want to see Hudson write a sequel trilogy in the future of ME universe:
The first ship to explore a new galaxy, this way we could import our saaved files but the choices will change dialouge instead of huge plot parts, and the game will be possible to make.
There could be a Krogan, Turian, Salarian,Drell Quarian/Geth/both Maybe even a Vorcha (fighter) on the ship as either specialts (engineers, combat, scientists, weaps etc) and maybe some of them as squad mates
And our choices can change who is mad about what, but not which whole plantes exis
t, maybe some surges can go through our characters depending,
and this new galaxy could be afraid of Dark Matter from the second game.
for the record, I put one person of each person on the ship so each major race can have a representative who represents their general public.(So the Turian/Drell could be squadmates, while the Salarian is a scientist or doctor like Chakwas)
-but I don't think he should take too much of our advice, he and his team are great writers and I don't want to see fan input kill the series.

Have it with Mass Effect styled combat and with DA:O's customization features.
We should get to choose our race and origin story (and play it out). Races should be fully customizable (e.g. Turian's get war paint and Asari get skin tone)
Finaly the story NEEDS to be original.
Yes! This.

Make the character backgrounds matter. Even if its just "flavor chat" have people mention the main character's background to him or her, it really helps tie the MC to the story.
More Biotics.

I would like to see a non-epic game on an epic scale. I suppose I should elaborate. I want to start off as a nobody individual with hopes of becoming a mercenary. I find a partner and we find/"rent" a ship. We hire a small crew and become pirates preying on merchant ships. We get some money and buy our own ship. A few new rookies want to join up. We plunder some more, and our organization grows. We add more ships and soon our name has become infamous. Soon we are the most feared merc group in known space or perhaps in the pirate controlled areas of the galaxy. Soon you are making decisions not just for you and your small party but for many such ships and groups across your territory.
All the while you could wrap that in a beautiful storyline. That system would allow all kinds of subplots, small questlines, and plenty of deep characters, villans, and heroes to meet.
I like it. Allow for multiple races/characters/backgrounds to something like this.

Avoid:
-Nerfing classes for the sake of balance. Borderlands devs had the right idea; having a fun class is better than having a balanced class
Missions:
Both ME2 and ME3 had a pretty good mission ethic. They were detailed, varied and, for the most part, fun. Unfortunately that was not always the case. Too many were either lame fech quests or just weren't very compelling. Although, there were a few missions that broke that trend:
Grissom Academy:
-Nice variance between open and closed environments
- Open courtyard offered a few ways to approach the enemy
The first mission of Arrival:
-While overall the mission was just ok, Arrival had the right idea with stealth options
-Small puzzles can be fun break from combat
Virmire/Collector Base:
-Story-wise these two missions were great
-They changed depending on choices you made either in-mission or earlier in the game
Most important of all, remember what made Mass Effect so good. Story, always incorporate story. They don't have to be integral to the main plot but make them compelling in their own way.
Avoid:
-Blatant fetch quests. I'm fine if some guy asks me to grab the macguffin staff from the cave-o-doom as long as I have a nice mission based around it
-Reusing Multiplayer maps. This is a blatant time-saver that produces no real fun
Hubs:
Make them more RPG-ish and make more of them. Hve a handful of planets with different atmospheres. Make high class places like the citadel and illium, omega, or even rural colonies. They don't need to be massive but have a lot going on in the small place (Gambling mini-games, shooting ranges, small quests, maybe even some exploration). Maybe have some enemy spawns in certain places around the hub so I can have fun outside of missions. My only wish for hubs are to be a place a want to go to, not just a place I need to go to.
Enemies:
Simply, make them more varied. You could make more enemy types or just make more varried body structures (see paragraphs just above and below the pictues). Otherwise, the enemies are great.
Combat:
The combat has been great in both ME2 and ME3. The only thing that hasn't wroked too well is the "awesome button." I would recommend revising the button layout if at all possible. I would also like to recommend adding more interaction with the environment. As an adept I want to be able to throw rocks, as an engineer I wanto be able to hack machinery, and as a soldier I want to bust things up with explosives.
Story:
I'm not going to go into detail about how I want the story to play out who I want in it. I'm just going to recommend a few things to focus on and a few things to avoid.
Focus on:
-Characters, make them less archetypal and more dynamic
-Have more defined driving characters (think the Illusive man during ME2)
-Sci-fi noir feel, mystery and intrigue are always enjoyable
-More dialog choices for the player (instead of just paragon/renegade somethimes have a "witty" or a "stoic" choice). have enough dialog so that players can define themselves a bit more than good or bad.
-Politics are always interesting, use them (You have a near post-apocalyptic galaxy to work with, make it good)
-Use the Yahg (it's a nice "prime directive" dilema)
Avoid:
-"reaper" or "darkspawn" enemies. Bioware, you're a big boy now, you don't need to use huge evil dark things of doom and destruction as the main antagonist. As the geth/quarian and krogan/all conflics have shown, people can screw up the galaxy perfectly fine themselves.
-No indoctrination or anything like it, people don't need to be controlled by satan to do evil things. As I said before, people can inherently do evil things. No outside force of evil is necessary
-In fact, if you have any plot device or character that can be described as "Aincient Alien ______" just set it aside and only use it if is absolutely vital
Other notes:
-Don't make a lame "badass" cover for your next game with some chump holding a gun walking away from an explosion. Make a cool old fashioned one like ME1's or even this one
-If you release a demo, don't make it of the prologue or some other important mission. ME demos have consistently spoiled important parts of the game.
-DO NOT SKIMP ON ANIMATION
-Listen to the fans a bit more. I know a good majority of us can act rash and downright stupid at times but occasionally we do have good advice.
So there's my two cents.

However Mass Effect 3 has failed with it's core direction......Mass Effect (to me) can be summed up the moment you boot up Mass Effect1....the scene of planet earth, the haunting music makes the player feel small, child like, insignificant compared to the vastness of space.........so much we don't understand,so much to explore,so much to discover.
Players were then given the opportunity in Mass1 to meet new races, explore planets and forge alliances, even the odd romance........the universe was full of mystery, races that had passed, threats that we didn't understand.........this is what made Mass Effect great.
Mass2 built on this concept by delivering new enemies (collectors),new and varied locations, new and varied crew members, new hubs (omega) and a host of romance options of course....as well as maintaining an element of mystery and fear in the shape of the reapers/collectors.
Mass3 lost the spirit of what made Mass Effect great as it's void of mystery, exploration, new crew, new LI,etc.........the focus was on war, which ironically should have been the perfect environment to continue core game elements but instead the focus seems to favour war in it's literal sense.....shooting stuff comes first and everything else took second place or third even.
For what it's worth,Bioware knows how to make a game, they know how to deliver character and story,Mass 1 and 2 represent everything we loved about Mass Effect so simply continue using the same wining formula...restore the mystery and wonder of the Mass Universe and then simply let us explore it.
