All I want this is to be fully RPG with good action, not this "RPG" we had on ME2 and ME3, I want RPG like in ME1 and action like in ME3 :D

@RainbowDazed Nah, I'm totally against the idea of Synthesis - it does no good. I think "Destruction" is the obvious decision (if you want the Reapers to be gone for good) - and BW easily can find a way to revive Geth & EDI if needed.

I did :)

Well if a sequel has all but been confirmed I'm guessing we'll have more Liara as Bioware made her such a pain to kill off.

I would honestly like to see more light cast on some of the cast who didn't have as much 'screentime'. With all due respect Mass Effect 1,2 and 3 were as much Garrus, Tali and Liara's story as they were Shepard's. I don't dislike any of the above characters I think they need to be left alone. I'd love to see them bring back some of the more interesting characters such as Kasumi and Samara. Chances are though they will be ignored in favour of the same old characters... such a shame...

THANK GOD!

It was also said that we should keep our save files.  That gives me hope and a reason to buy the DLC.

I would love to see some more time spent looking into the
intelligence/espionage organisations (STG, SPECTRE) and the criminal
underworld (mercs, smugglers etc).

I don't like the idea of a prequel, going back to the shiny and relatively stable universe of ME1 and before. Post ME3 would be interesting (esepciallydependning on the ending that you geo) as the universe has been decimated. You could help rebuild and shape the galaxy depending on how you see fit.

In an ideal world you would get to pick your race, background and class. Start of as a refugee, choose to volunteer with security forces or work for local crime gang and eventually work your way up the ranks of which ever order you choose.

I think a setting like that could offer different gameplay styles and mechanics, as well as a lot of moral conundrums to wrestle with.

Obviously don't mess with the core gameplay too much or it wouldn't be Mass Effect!

+1!

The Galaxy having dark enegry problem would make a new epic story line, which somehow could be tied back to the reapers and the decisions made in the first three games.

After I thought a long time about it, i have a few new ideas.

The new Mass Effect game will be far in the future. Maybe about thousand years. So the only one that you can visit will be Liara T'Soni, if it will be "only" thousand years in the future. It will be an intergalactic war. The Milky Way is united and they will remember Shepard who made the galaxy united since thousand years.

It the beginning of the game, before you start it, you will have the chance to choose Control, Destroy or Synthetis. So Shepard's decision will have consequences.  Or you can import your data from Mass Effect 3.

The war will be intergalactic, it means that the Milky Way will fight dark enemies in other galaxies. But some of your other decisions by Shepard will have consequences, too, not only the final one.

There will be possibilities with Shepard's decision:

-Curing the genophage or not will have consequences
-Geth/Quarians-War will have consequences
-And the decision by Shepard (Control/Destroy/Synthesis)

The trilogy of Shepard is the basic for the next Mass Effect games. But we have to create a new enemy and new things.

I prefer fights with the space ship.

I will now be hated by a lot of people, but I'll say it anyways:

Make ME4 a multiplayer only game. Improved in every way possible over ME3 MP, with a better unlocking system like good F2P games have (Tribes:Ascend for example), vast customization options (like Blacklight Retribution for example), more character creation options, Co-Op campaign missions and a competitive part with various game modes. Less bugs, a long beta phase and all that stuff... just a really really good and fun multiplayer game.

if they do make another masseffect game our last choices on the citadel better count, I don't want a green cannon story plot, I would like to know what happend to shepard and his/her crew I like to see if they rebuild starships and the Relays or make new possiblities of vas transport.

Dose the citadel stay in the sol system or will it go back to it's normal location?
Will we see more or less of the races, will it take place in another galaxey if so did the ast three games change anything in those other galaxey's.

I hope Casey Recalls that ME is a sci fi expiriance, maybe he should watch starwars and startreck so he can have a better feel for what a sci fi game can be like

To summarize my thoughts of how I believe the ME universe could be made better I'd like two list things........

..... One relating to game play mechanics,

.... the other relating to narrative

And yes, I know we have been told that we shall have no more Shep or soldier. However since we have not been told who or what the format of ME4 will be I'll go with what we all know and leave it to your imagination on how such suggestions can be implemented.

With ME4 being developed with a new graphics engine I'd like to see the vehicle mechanics put back in, in a way that seamlessly interacts with the main narrative. I want it to be a polished version of how we used the Mako in ME1, not a bolt on DLC like the hammerhead in ME2. The reason being that as a, then, soldier the tanks and gun ships should be an organic extension of Shep's arsenel. As an extension of adding the Mako the hacking games should also be returned as they bring variety to what would otherwise be a standard cover shooter with a fancy dialogue mechanic.

Removing vehicles and hacking is somewhat akin to having tennis players asking the net to be removed so the game can develop with the ball hitting it. It's a part of the game and removing it removed an important aspect of the game and the rules that govern it.

On the story line side. I'd like to see more RPG elements returned to how we tackle the narrative. (ok, still into mechanics, here's the narrative suggestion).

And also see a hero who has to deal with the aftermath of Shepard's future. So many people wanted blue babies and that little house on Rannoch. While the new hero may not have Shep's squadmates, he or she can at least be given a reason to visit them if the story relates to dealing with the fallout of Shep's victory. Thus giving us the peace of mind to know that some of them settled back from galaxy saving into living their lives.

And since Shep is not coming back and we won't have a solider character again, can I suggest a doctor character? The theme behind ME4 could be Heal what harm was done in the face of adversity. The character would naturally have to be capable of fighting leading to some interesting debates of extent of do no harm. But such a character with such a mission statement from the beginning would immediately set him/her apart from those that prevent harm by doing harm, to those that prevent harm and heal harm.

Hmm...I would like to see D Karpyshan back on board if at all possible...I really enjoyed his work in ME1 and the books he wrote.

I would like to see it post-Me3. It would be neat to have a choice or races to play, though I do see how that could beproblematic what with hiring voice actors and what not.

I think that the most powerful thing you could do for ME4 in a post ME3 world would be to have cameos of the various characters from the previous games. It could add to the story and perhaps put fans that are still disgruntled about the ending to rest. (ie liaramancers would visit the citadel/ other hub and see what happened to liara in the long haul) Or a memorial to Shepard, which seems almost necessary in any sort of post game where Shep died.

Exploration

Side quests

Less auto dialogue

I don't want a prequel... other then that what i wish to see is some references to Shepard and his team, preferrably i would like a game where Shepard is still around, but i doubt that will happen.

Also i would like more dialogue options, in depth story, and no MP, but thats just me.
If you guys are doing a complete workaround, it would be nice to have a Mass Effect strategy game, play Admiral Hackett and destroy the reapers ;)

Start by not letting Casey Hudson or Mac Walters anywhere near it.

Casey Hudson created Mass Effect, which is why we're here in the first place. Mac Walters wrote characters like Garrus and Wrex, the latter being your avatar.

not on ME3...

Casey and Walters flooded ME3. TO put it midly.. SO, im sorry if i dont trust neither of them anymore.

I really dont trust them as the "lead project designers and writters".

Make it set after the Shepard story. Add in closure of ME3 (EC helped a little, but still lacking imo), and return to the original concepts of it being a character/choice driven story.

Return to core concepts that were important to the original games, like a lot of the above posters, that means ME RPG. Also PLEASE don't change everything so it's a completely different unrecognizable world.

I think an interesting place to pick up from would be a new antagonist that has yet to appear. Maybe it was something biding it's time, waiting for the reapers to leave/be destroyed so it could appear, etc.

If totally changing everything/making the world crazy different is the plan for ME4, just start another space themed game, with a brand new lore. It irks me when lore and content is altered for the sake of making the game seem fresh. It doesn't. It's just annoying.
I think ME4 could really be a game that cleanses Bioware's ending fail AND helps Casey Hudson win brownie points with the fans.
TBH though, I'm just not that confident that Casey Hudson really gets fans. The fact he is lead on ME4 is making me really nervous. Nothing against the guy, he seems really intelligent and he has some crazy cool ideas...but those ideas might just be too out there for ME.

I mean, Starchild might have worked in another game, but it just was so random and out there and did not mesh with ME in my opinion.

He says one thing and we get/he does another. Really no offense to him personally, but what he was saying about ME3 pre-release, and what we got were two VERY different things, and that makes my faith in ME sort of shaky.

Mass Effect has the potential to satisfy all fans, if the choices we make as fans really matter in game. I think Casey should make a game he loves, but also leave room for us to love it too (those of us who didn't enjoy the ending that is).

Aww, no prequel? Was looking forward to playing the First Contact War, and maybe even the story of the Illusive Man according to the comics.

I won't be against a MMO, like EVE Online. With 3 servers for each of ME3's endings.

I think the next game should be like the Firefly series. You're a smuggler dude in the Terminus Systems and you have to fight against the Citadel which released a plague that wipes out entire planets. Of course you have to start off on some crappy rock planet with an open market and find a ship to buy/steal. Then you partner with someone to do your first smuggling job and as you do more smuggling missions you get more people. As you do these missions you hear about the plague on the news starting out with a couple people. While going through the story the plague gets larger and larger and eventually you find out that you were the one who is dropping off the plague. So then you go to stop it and kill a bunch of Citadel people.

I'm thinking it should be a 2 part series where the first game you have to stop the plague and the second game you have to go around trying to kill the people who set the plague up.

Maybe... you could even put in a third game in which the Terminus systems is truly recognized as a free and independent and makes peace with the council. But I think that might be a stretch.

I would really like to see 2 things:

1. Competitive Multiplayer (a la Gears of War)

2. A story that centers around 3 characters (one that is like a book that changes perspectives and ends up tying all 3 plot lines together in the end; something like Murakami's 1Q84). I could see a really cool story revolving around a Human criminal/mercenary, Asari Justicar, and Turian bounty hunter.

Please please do not bring a prequel, go forward with the series, i remember you guys where supposed to bring in that Virtual Race and uplift those birds type Aliens, bring in that:D explore that let the virtual people become the new enemy perhaps not as powerful as reapers, but if I am not mistaken that virtual race needed "live" bodies to come into the real world and they swapped let it be a takeover kind of thing can be one subplot :D

With the regards to how to get there, i would say canonize an ending perhaps destroy and from the remnants because geth die from that choice you can also have a subplot where races begin to revive the geth i am sure its possible and issues there. Alternatively an enemy from out of the Milky Way invading. Another subplot or major plot versed out into another 3 games:D can be awesome! Just NO PREQUEL I want to and i'm sure a lot others also want to play in the universe they spent hours trying to save regardless of the ending and to explore what has changed.

If the reapers still survive and you guys canonize one of the other 2 endings then it'l be to restrictive in the sense they will be like GODLIKE and block any other enemy/threat. But you have to find a way f you go with those endings  to eliminate the reapers completely from the game using some story twist perhaps can have remnants of them around like small quests.

Also if you guys are going to do more DLC's ME3 then perhaps build it up a to a high EMS where saying F** U to starchild becomes a viable option where every or most races survive. And thus all problem solved and you not going and changing endings just making something viable since you guys did put it there. And it will make people buy the next DLC's that get released more meaningful. Since i think majority a people wouldnt mind aconventional victory by saying stuff you to STAR Child. Perhaps as a sacrifice and compromise and to get bitter sweet ending to it you guys can make it so that it put all races having buggerall resources and halved populations. Starting up and then that also can lead to a ME 4 a plot build the future kind of thing and leading to the other plots i mentioned above.

I do not mind not having a Shepherd, or the squad mates that where in the same 3, but it will be a nice touch based on your choice from 3 games, to have like memorials or something in that sense where people talk about it how they saved the universe and their accomplishments. Just something to remind us that they where important in the galaxy and the universe just didnt forget about them :D Like a replica of the Normandy or statue of Sheppard like an acknowledgement.

Anyway that is my ideas! O one more thing that can be neat, allow them to have a choice in choosing the ship we command perhaps if you rank up you can choose a better ship larger perhaps, and even one where you can train your people on your ship the more trained they are the better you can escape and more efficient in terms of fuel etc you are. Also allow the freedom to choose who can be aboard like your ship staff. Maybe not all but some. Make the game also more open play like a GTA type form is also an idea.
